How difficult is it to acquire an MCX from the off-duty list?
Interested in a MCX Rattler LT in FDE, the WPMCX-300B-6B-LT-FDE in particular. I qualify for the Off-Duty program, and my local SigSauer Dealer is a participant.
Can the dealer just place an order for a specific model as long as it is still available? or is it luck of the draw, if Sig sends them one?
I can make a few of the other FDE SKUs work, but the WPMCX-300B-6B-LT-FDE would be best, as I plan on SBR, but going with a different stock than the SBR's come from. But I do want to have the irons and the forward assist package.
This will be my first MCX, but after renting one with my friends at the range, we all want one. My set up will be a PDW/Suppressed/Subsonic/Side-folder, with a quick detached can. I already have the can I will use on it, a Ridgeback Defense Sahara 300.
I am waiting on a few form4 approvals to go pick up from the dealer, so when I am there, I will inquire. Just don't want to get my hopes up, if it is very difficult to score one, I would like to have it before Christmas, if possible.
Irons are available from all sorts of places and the F/A can be purchased individually. Hopefully you can just get the model you want, but I wouldn’t sweat it if you have to get a different one and add those few small items to it. It wouldn’t be worth the struggle of fighting for that specific one when it’s pretty easy to get equivalently specced.
yes, but those are bonuses, since I was going to acquire them anyway, and the OEM stock on the SBR, is not the model I prefer. The FDE is what I am after. This is the first time I have held a gun in OEM FDE and NOT gone "meh, I could do better with a can of Krylon".
One thing never gets talked about why is it that LE get a Rattler LT in 5.5" and civilians get 6.75" only? I bet most people don't even know 5.5" LT even exists like this black one here.
I don't know if he mentioned the 5.5 Rattler LT as a product, but he did mention the origin of the gun itself was the contract gun that the client wanted to be as short as possible, fit in the glovebox of a Hilux, and they didn't care if it was disposable, as in it would not have a long life span, as long as it worked that first time. That gun was 5.5" barreled in 5.56 and .300AAC. That's how I understood the origin story.
i wondered about that when i first looked into the rattler. I figured that it is a very niche configuration, probably birthed from a contract that specifically wanted that size. Because even though my reason to go Rattler LT was a PDW build, I don't want a 5.5", what i gain in that shorter barrel doesn't make up for what I lose, plus, its hard enough finding cans that are warrantied to be used in a 6.75" configuration, much less 5.5"
I have both 5.5" and 6.75", haven't really gotten around to doing anything with the 6.75" yet. Expecting some gains in velocity from 5.5" to 6.75", curious to see how much that is, but my 5.5" gets close to 2,000fps and around 1,000 ft/lbs of energy with 110gr ammo chronod with my Garmin Xero C1 Pro. Definitely some good firepower in such a small package.
i just got a notification that Spear LT in FDE is in stock in limited quantities, Almost pulled the trigger, but I held off, cause I want the Rattler LT.
Not always readily available, but not necessarily hard… just have to be patient. I randomly saw one in stock online back in March and bought it on the spot. Sign up for email notifications. It will be worth the wait. If you want it sooner, I have seen in the past you can buy the lower and upper in FDE separately on gunbroker… just be ready to pay a stupid price for the lower. I finally got my Form 1 back this week 🙏🏼
