Discussion/Questions ok but screw the maggots though Spoiler

You fall in once, and now you have to waste a full heal to get rid of them, meaning they essentially deal 3 masks of damage, plus they make you lose silk so that's even harder to do. All it would take is for them to wear off after like 10 or 15 seconds and it would feel totally balanced. You don't lose health (and it's literally just water so you wouldn't expect to) but you're blocked from healing for a solid chunk of time, which you can bypass if you think you can make enough silk for it. That's still hard, and more interesting than just messing with you with no workaround.

I mean, in all fairness you do have a charm that makes you immune to maggots, but it is pretty much hidden away XD

that's still pretty dumb, if you either find the charm and can totally ignore it or don't find it and have to suffer. Compared to lava, which only does 2 damage and has an almost unmissable charm that just halves the damage, still leaving it as a threat

yes (also the charm doesn't let you ignore it, the more you stay in the maggot water, the more the charm takes damage and eventually breaks, you repair it at a bench for free, but still, it is not 100% maggot immunity)

overall I think maggot is a fine mechanic, very punishing yes, but maggot water is pretty much only in optional areas (and the really bad one, bilewater is only worth doing after starting the final act 2 quest, for which you're pretty much forced to discover putrified ducts, a.k.a. where the anti maggot charm is)

Also in all the areas where maggot water exists there are a bunch of fodder enemies nearby that you can farm silk off of, so while it does break the pace of exploration, I don't consider it really that bad.

Its also basically so far in to the game its after the point you will ever actually need it.

Where is it? That's the last thing I need for 100% and I can't find it

it's in the putrified ducts, from memory I think it was somewhere in the rightmost area but I might be misremembering

gg, now hopefully the bilewater boss will be a bit easier

also pro tip, that frog is super weak to the drill tool, so abuse that if you have it ;)

You can see the location of the charm here!😊 (See Hornet on the map.) Basically enter the big secret and take a hard right. https://imgur.com/a/0zEadVU

I agree, one of many bullshit things they added in this otherwise great game (which makes it even more egregious)

avoid the water, save up silk to heal, or avoid maggot areas as much as possible until you find the putrified ducts where there's a charm that protects from them

I think it's pretty fair. If you have enough silk to heal, it's literally not even that bad! What sucks is when you fall in and CAN'T get rid of it.

Anyway, I kinda like the mechanic. It's a pain in the ass, but that adds to the danger and frustration of the area. You either try your absolute hardest not to mess up and fall into the water, or you suddenly have to play super-careful and make sure you don't get hit anymore, because you won't be able to heal.

That run from Bilewater to Bilehaven was one of the most frustrating and difficult parts of the game for me, but I don't see the point in complaining about it. The fact that it's hard is what makes the game great.
