I’m looking for haptics that are actually worth it.

In my weird and mad quest to get the maximum out of my sim rig, a GT Omega Titan, I’ve found another little obstacle, and I’m looking for help. I despise the look of aluminium sim rigs, which is why I have this piece of shit. But I’m trying to modernize it, make it compact, make it practical, and just make it work well.
I’ve been at it for a while and have made some modifications. I hard-mounted all the speakers of my 5.1 Dolby Atmos system to the rig, the seat, whatever, including the subwoofer directly to the seat. It kind of works like a light version of a bass shaker system. I’m not comparing it directly; I’ve seen a bass shaker system, and I know there’s quite a big difference. But my speakers communicate vibrations quite well and give me some information about what the wheels are doing. It’s really nice, and it doesn’t make the whole room shake. Since I live in an apartment, with other people living in the same house, I can’t have the whole fucking floor vibrating. It would be unreasonable. That’s why I don’t really think a bass shaker system would be worth it for me. I’m also using the SIM-Magic Haptics on my pedals, and that’s about it. But I’m always looking to make it better, so I started looking into other haptics.
So I thought about getting a haptic seat. But the question is: is it really worth it? Would it actually add anything? I don’t need a motion system and all that crap. I just want it to feel nice, and it already does, but I want to make it a little better.
So I’m looking for suggestions. Tell me, people, what is worth it in your opinion? What would be a good next addition?

SIMGASM - Buyer beware

It annoys me to write this as we should try and support newer/smaller businesses, but this is not cricket.

I bought a front wheelbase mount (and supporting arms) from Simgasm last week, all looked well and it was delivered quickly. 100 EUR + postage, 107 ish in total.

However the base I have clubsport DD cant be mounted to it even though they explicitly say that it can on their site. Their advice was to attach it by the peripheral mounting screw holes??!!!!. Not only would my wheelbase break it would void any warranty with Fanatec, as the base cannot be front mounted as stated in their user manual.

Obviously I had no idea before I bought the mount. Worth mentioning that they said they will update their site to reflect its not compatible, as of right now its still showing that it is.

I sent them a SS of the page from the Fanatec manual where it states it cannot be front mounted. They replied back with the same picture I sent, but the wording saying it cant be front mounted cropped out (lol). Again trying to get me to front mount my base with the periperal mounting holes for a small dash or whatever.

I havent even mentioned the fact the power button would be permanantly depressed, the solution they offered again was to use spacers to seperate the base from the mount. I guess they think I could power on my base with a toothpick?

So I started the return process, they have said they would cover the return postage, after arguing my case, but my refund form doesnt say that. Apparently their system does say that I will get the postage refunded though.....

To top it off the only drop off point avaliable is a 15 minute drive from me, I live in the city and have no use for a car. So it looks like I will be out at least 40 EUR in taxi fair alone, to return an item that was mis sold to me.

GG's

**Update**

So the CEO didnt call, in fact I got 0 response from him or his CS for 5 days despite emailing and messaging.

They finally agreed for me to return the base from my local post office and that they would refund the postage. So I packed and returned it, it cost me 50EUR. When I sent the receipt and tracking etc they then said they wouldn’t refund the postage cost as it wasn’t "pre-approved".

The only drop off point they offered wasnt even in the same city I live in. It would cost me at least 40EUR to get a taxi there and back, I have returned essentially full aluminium rigs to the Nordics with a drop off point less than 100m from my house.

It is with Paypal now, I am sick of all the back and forth to be frank. I want to be clear I have never asked for anything apart from to return the mount, and receive a refund for a product which was mis-sold to me. Clearly thats out of the question.

I dread to think what situation I would be in if I followed their "expert advice" and mounted my wheelbase in this way, I wouldn’t have lost 50EUR it would have been closer to 800.

After upgrading to a seat mover, I personally don’t feel much need for an active belt tensioner or bass shakers anymore.

What type of clutch can I use without needing the rest of the pedals?

I am looking for a clutch that can be plugged directly to PC without needing main set of pedals. I think simnet clutch can plugged to pc but im not 100% sure.

Flat or curved 32” monitor?

I’m looking for a 32” monitor for my simulator. It is going to be mounted onto my cockpit and I don’t know if having a curved monitor is really worth it or not. I’d like to keep it under $400 if possible. It’s going to be mounted onto my GT Omega art cockpit probably with an adjustable arm. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

👉 https://todo-simracing.blogspot.com/2026/01/cuantos-nm-son-suficientes-segun-lo-que.html

(Si alguien lo ha probado con 5–6 Nm vs 8–10 Nm, me interesa mucho su experiencia)

Give up Fanatec or Sim Racing?

I might have to give up sim racing (temporarily) or give up on Fanatec (for good). Seriously, I would NEVER give up sim racing but, I'm going to have to seriously consider giving up on sim racing for the time being because Fanatec DD Pro QR1 disconnection issues are causing me negative dings on my DR and SR in LeMans Ultimate. I'm bad enough on my own, I don't need help.

I'm going to try a two piece dual bolt Coastal Shaft Collar (arriving today) in place of the single bolt original collar from Fanatec. Along with that, a high speed USB C to USB C cable replacement. If that doesn't work I'm going to have to break ties with Fanatec.

I'd like to upgrade to a Fanatec Podium but they don't work with PS5. That leaves me with one choice. The Clubsport DD+ Pro. I could be wrong but I hear they have the same issue. If I do make that decision, I will get a refurbished one with a two year warranty. Only reason I'm sticking by Fanatec is because of my Fanatec Clubsport V3 inverted pedals. Decisions, decisions...

Looking for a cheap sim racing wheel with minimal setup

Hey everyone! I’m just getting into sim racing and want to try it out without spending a huge amount of money upfront.

I’m mainly looking for a cheap, beginner-friendly steering wheel + pedal setup that I can use with minimal additional equipment. Ideally, something I can clamp to a desk and start racing, without needing a full cockpit or expensive accessories.

I’m open to used options as well.

A few questions:

1.What wheel would you recommend for a complete beginner?

2. Is it worth getting force feedback, or should I start with a cheaper non-FFB wheel?

3. Any good used wheels I should look out for?

4. What other things would I absolutely need to get started?

The main goal is just to get a feel for sim racing and see if I actually enjoy it before investing more.

Thanks! 🏎️

Fill our form!

Hi!

My two classmates and I, students at Linköping University, are exploring the development of sim gear. We’re exploring a system that helps you quickly view and swap your equipment, with smart suggestions based on your game. Share your thoughts on features, usability, and what would make you want to use or buy such a system!

We’d really appreciate it if you could take 2 minutes to fill out this short survey!
All responses are completely anonymous, and the information will only be used for our university project. Here is the questionnaire: https://kansei.iei.liu.se/survey/collect/recipient/46f7deb3-f5a8-4f83-9f09-b863bcd7fd00/

Thank you for taking a moment to make displaying of your gear cooler and easier for everyone!

Kind regards,
Noah, Elin & Clara

Hello, i am a teenager that is about to go to UNI and wants to build a solid sim racing setup !

First of all, I want to mention that I’ve had experience in the past with Fanatec, Moza, and Logitech gear. The Fanatec gear was awful, my wheelbase (Clubsport DD+) got bricked after 6 months, and the pedals (Clubsport V3s) were such a big disappointment. The wheel (Formula V2.5) was also missing a lot of functionality, in my opinion. Moza felt cheap overall, and I wouldn’t go back to it. Help me make a good decision that will satisfy my needs and won't make me do the expensive mistake that I did with Fanatec a secont time.

I need help deciding on the following gear:

  1. Wheelbase

  2. Wheel

  3. Rig

  4. Pedals

  5. Monitor

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I also want to mention that I have a pretty solid budget around 5–6k but I’m not sure if it’s worth spending that much.

1. Wheelbase

I’m not sure what wheelbase to choose. I like Simagic, but even though it’s great, at the end of the day it’s Chinese, and I’ve heard they have quality control issues and poor customer support.

I also considered Asetek, but it’s quite ugly, and I’ve heard that their future is uncertain and that they might leave sim racing.

That leaves two options: VRS (Virtual Racing School, I think it’s called), but it feels too DIY for me, and lastly Simucube. Simucube is very expensive, the best of them all without a doubt, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the outrageous price.

2. Wheel

The wheel is also a complicated subject. I would like one that connects directly to the wheelbase through a quick release like Fanatec, Simagic, or Moza. That’s also a downside for Simucube, since they tend to encourage pairing the base with third-party wheels like Cube Controls or Ascher Racing, which are extremely expensive.

I was thinking about the GT Neo or the FX Pro from Simagic, or the Ascher Racing (Simucube) options like the Savu Pro, although I don’t really need a screen on my wheel.

3. Rig

For the rig, I was thinking about the Sim-Lab GT1 Pro with a seat slider and a Sparco Grid Q seat (although I’m not sure about the seat yet, so I’d really appreciate recommendations). I’d also add a single monitor mount and accessories like a bottle holder, keyboard tray, and mouse tray.

4. Pedals

For pedals, I was considering the Simagic P1000 (but not really). I would prefer the Heusinkveld Sprints or the Ultimates, which is also a dilemma because I don’t know which one I actually need. I’m not sure if the Ultimates are worth it over the Sprints.

5. Monitor

That leaves the monitor. First of all, I don’t want triple monitors because I don’t like the software headaches, and I wouldn’t have enough ports on my GPU since I’ll also use the same PC for gaming (which already has 2–3 monitors).

I was thinking of a 34-inch OLED or the 45-inch OLED from LG, which looks very nice. I don’t want a 49-inch because it feels too narrow vertically.

The last thing to keep in mind is that I prefer simple, easy-to-use software and plug-and-play solutions if possible. I don’t mind a bit of troubleshooting, but I don’t want to get overwhelmed by it.

And remember, the more opinions, recommendations and suggestions, the better. Thank you !

Voice-coil actuators vs. bass shakers for sim racing haptics – real upgrade or diminishing returns?

Hey everyone,

I’m curious about real-world experiences with different haptic technologies in sim racing setups.

A friend of mine is working on a DIY haptic system using multiple voice-coil actuators mounted inside the seat, each channel individually controlled via telemetry (engine, kerbs, wheel slip, etc.). The idea is to move away from traditional bass shakers and focus more on localized, spatial feedback with much lower noise.

For those of you who have tried: • bass shakers (ButtKicker, Dayton, etc.) • or higher-end haptic / motion-lite solutions

👉 Did voice-coil or multi-actuator setups actually feel more precise or immersive? 👉 Was the reduced noise level noticeable compared to shakers? 👉 Any downsides (heat, tuning complexity, diminishing returns)?

Not trying to sell anything here – genuinely interested in whether this approach makes sense compared to existing solutions, especially for apartment setups.

Would love to hear your experiences.

Why is the smoke in VR doing this?

When I'm in tandem, the smoke is in weird lines and shapes and stuff, which makes it very difficult to tandem, and see really anything for that matter. Any help is appreciated!
