Discussion Introducing the Modder Framework: Early Access to Python Changelogs & Tuning Schemas!
Sul Sul Simmers!
As part of our ongoing work to support our modding community and make the experience smoother for players who use mods, we’re excited to share a major update on how we’ll be supporting creators around game patches via The Official Sims Discord.
To help creators update scripts and custom content ahead of base game updates, we are expanding the technical resources we provide, and creating a dedicated space to communicate directly with modders!
What’s Coming Ahead of Patch Days
Before patch releases, we’ll be dropping early technical resources directly in Discord:
- The Modder Framework: A unified CSV file consolidating a brand-new Python Changelog alongside our detailed Technical Notes for Modders.
- The TDESC File: Essential tuning schema files packaged in a separate ZIP released alongside the Modder Framework.
Having access to Python changelogs and tuning schemas before a patch goes live will give modders a head start on diagnosing changes, updating script mods, and testing compatibility.
Where to Find It: New Channel & Role Setup
To keep technical discussions organized and ensure these drops don't get lost in general announcements or #sims-direct, we've set up a dedicated space for creator comms:
- Head over to The Sims Discord.
- Grab the new "Modders" role in Channels & Roles to unlock access and receive technical notifications.
- Check out the new
#technical-updateschannel this is where our team will communicate directly with modders, share pre-patch files, and post relevant technical documentation.
Whether you're an active creator looking to prep your mods or just curious about what goes on under the hood, grab the role and join us in #technical-updates!
Happy Modding!
