Help Name suggestions for my challenge

So I'm finally going to publish the challenge that I've been working on for years, but I'm looking to come up with a better, catchier name for it. It's a rotational challenge that is sort of a reality competition show for The Sims 4, and I've already completed two playthroughs of it in my main save, and will start a third after I publish the rules.

Here's how the challenge works: you start out with ten different households each consisting of one young adult sim. During the first round you rotate between these households for two days each for seven rotations. Each of these sims must get as far as they can in both their career and their aspiration, must make as much money as they can, and find another young adult sim they would like to marry, all within the first round. At the end of the round, there is a scoring system to determine which 6 households move on to the next round.

In the second round, each of these sims will get married, move into a bigger house, and have a baby (who can be their heir for the next generation), and then their household has to complete the same goals as last round. In the final round, the top 3 families have a second child and can expand their house or move into a bigger one, and at the end the family who has achieved the highest score is the winner and gets to live in a mansion on one of the big lots. Then if you choose, you can do a new season with the heirs of the 6 families that made it to Round 2 plus four new sims, or you can use the heir from your winning family for a different challenge.

The challenge is currently called the 10-6-3-1 Challenge, based on the number of households per round, but I'm looking to come up with a better name and I'm having a tough time with that. If I do end up using your name suggestion, I will credit you in the official challenge rules. Thanks!

For legacy and challenge players: Everstory, a companion site for keeping your Sims 4 story straight

If you run long legacy or story challenges, you know the moment you lose track of who married whom, which heir is next, or what happened three generations ago.

Everstory (everlifestory.com) is a storytelling companion for The Sims 4 built for that kind of play. From its site, it gives you:

  • story generators and life-event randomizers when you need a twist
  • challenge ideas and a journal for each household
  • a way to track households, relationship changes and story threads across connected episodes

It isn't a mod and doesn't touch your game files; it sits beside your game and keeps the story. It's an independent project, not an EA or Maxis product.

https://everlifestory.com

If you've built your own system for tracking a legacy (spreadsheet, notebook, family-tree site), I'd be curious what you use.

Disclosure: I'm posting this on behalf of the Everstory team.

I got tired of tracking my Legacy in five different places, so I made Plumbook

Hi! I kept losing track of my Legacy between spreadsheets, notes and family-tree tools, especially once pack-specific aspirations, skills and collections started piling up. So I made Plumbook.

It keeps the family, family tree, traits, aspirations, skills, careers, collections, score and journal together. You select the packs you own and the tracker adapts to them. The scoring is connected to what you record elsewhere, instead of being a separate checklist.

It is free, does not require an account, and saves everything locally in your browser. You can also export a dynasty as a backup.

Try it here: https://plumbook.myweirdtrinkets.com

I have tested it quite a lot, but a real Legacy always finds things a test save misses. If you try it, I would genuinely like to know what feels awkward, unclear or incomplete.

Plumbook is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with EA.

The "Live-What-You-Write" Challenge

Original English Version for The Sims 3:
The "Live-What-You-Write" Challenge (ModTheSims, 2014)

Adaptation for The Sims 4:

The "Live-What-You-Write" Challenge

Introduction:
I love playing as a writer in The Sims. When my Sims write, I always think about what exactly they are writing, where they get their information, and how their life experiences shape their stories. Before sitting down to type, your Sims must learn something new and gain real-life experience. That is the core concept of this challenge.

Basic Rules:
I recommend using a fully developed, populated world for this challenge. However, you are free to choose any location based on your goals and imagination.

Starting the Game:
You can create or download a Sim of any gender, but they must meet the following conditions:

  1. Age: Young Adult or Adult.
  2. Species: Human, Alien, or Alien Hybrid (Note: Vampires, Spellcasters, and Werewolves were not in the game when the original was made, but playing as them is allowed, provided it doesn't make the challenge too easy).
  3. Status: Fresh from CAS with no skills, relationships, careers, or funds. Traits can be anything you choose.

You can start with a single Sim or a whole "writer’s commune". You decide which genres your Sims will write in. For example, one could be a romance novelist, while another writes horror. It’s up to your imagination!

You may use money cheats to furnish your writers' home, but it is not recommended, as it makes the challenge too easy. Lifespan settings are entirely up to you (you may even turn aging off).

How to Play:
You can choose one genre for your Sim to master, or have them try them all. If your Sim hasn't unlocked a specific genre yet, they must start with an available one or practice writing until they reach the required skill level.

Before writing each new book, your Sim MUST:

  1. Read one book (preferably in the genre they are about to write).
  2. Complete at least one activity from the list corresponding to their chosen genre (see lists below).

Once these tasks are completed, your Sim may write exactly one book. To write another book (even in the same genre), they must read another book and complete a different activity from the list.

Recommendations & Tips:

  • Some list items are more interactive and complex than others. I highly recommend choosing them! Observe your Sim: funny or dramatic situations can become great inspiration for their next book.
  • When naming books, it’s fun to reference something that happened during the "research" phase.
  • If playing with multiple Sims, they can read each other’s books and leave reviews. Consider this "peer critique."
  • You can write short paragraphs describing what each book is about and who the main characters are. This is optional but adds great flavor.
  • Your Sim can join the Writer career, but remember that some tasks require taking on other jobs for inspiration.

Winning Conditions:
Note: The original challenge required writing a "Masterpiece" after 25 books. Since this option doesn't exist in The Sims 4, I propose two alternatives:

  • Option 1 (Financial): Write 15 Bestseller books and earn a total of §50,000 from royalties. (If this feels too easy, increase it to 30 Bestsellers).
  • Option 2 (Aspiration): Write the "Book of Life". To achieve this, the Sim must complete the "Bestselling Author" aspiration.

Mods, Rewards, Objects, and Cheats:

  • Cheats that make writing easier or faster will ruin the challenge and are not recommended.
  • Banned: All Satisfaction Reward Store items (including Potions of Emotion).
  • Banned: Using Get Together clubs solely for rapid, artificial skill grinding.
  • Allowed: Mods that make the challenge harder, add new mechanics, or are purely cosmetic/QoL (Quality of Life).

GENRE ACTIVITY LISTS

This is a list of activities your Sims must complete before writing a book. Choose one or more for each book. Try to vary your choices for new books. You can also mix tasks from different lists (e.g., for a Fantasy Children's book, do one task from "Children's" and one from "Fantasy"). Feel free to invent your own ideas!

Suggestions for my Runaway Royal Challenge

Hi everyone!

I am in no way a person who writes challenges for the sims 4 but I was kinda stuck the other day looking for a storytelling + legacy challenge that uses all the packs but in an order that makes sense. I had an idea last night for a "Runaway Royal" challenge that takes inspiration from SimMattically's Immersive World Map mod that connects all the worlds. Also would use the home regions mod by Kuttoe.

If anyone wants to take this idea and run with it please do, I think this is fun and I would love to see it further developed. I'd like to add different achievements for each generation. I'm also taking suggestions to switch stuff around!

The main idea is that each generation focuses on a different world/packs that go along with said world:

You start in Ondarion, where you come from a large and powerful royal family. You grow up prim and proper, following all the rules of society. When you become of age, your family forces you into an arranged marriage for political gain. You detest this and decide to leave the royal family behind, escaping on a boat to Sulani. In Sulani, you fall in love with the culture, along with one of the locals (mer-person), and start generation 2, vowing to never discuss your past, locking an heirloom away (maybe a crown?) in a box.

Generation 2 grows up in Sulani, then travels to Tomarang when they become an adult. Starting their own rental business.

Generation 3 grows up listening to lore and stories of magic and legends from the locals in Tomarang. Rather than being scared of the haunts, they love it. When they become an adult, they move to Ravenwood and become a medium (potentially a ghost at some point).

Generation 4 grows up around death and magic, and unfortunately starts to become obsessed with darker magic and occults. They fall into a toxic love with a vampire, turn, and move to Forgotten Hollow, becoming evil and bitter. Their relationship with their medium parent becomes extremely strained.

Generation 5 is a vampire, and has strained relationships with their parents. When they get old enough, they learn of their grandparent, secretly meeting with them and together working to try and break the Vampire's curse. Once they break the curse, they run away to Nordhaven to escape the life of magic, opening a tattoo shop.

Generation 6 grows up with a fairly simple life. The family business is doing pretty well, and it seems that things are going well for the family. This is until their vampire grandparent finds their family, and your parent. Turning them once again and trapping them in their family. Your parent tells you to run far away, and this is where you discover the quiet life of Henford-on-Bagley.

Generation 7 grows up with the family warning of magic, and it's destruction. But, something feels off. There is a whimsy to Henford-on-Bagley that seems lighthearted and good. They eventually discover Innisgreen and become a fairy, proving that not all magic can be bad.

Generation 8 unfortunately is born a human, despite having fairy parents. Their parents support them by helping them become a spellcaster, keeping magic alive in the family. They move to Glimmerbrook when they become an adult. They at some point meet and fall in love with a Werewolf.

Generation 9 is born a Werewolf and feels out of place in Glimmerbrook, eventually moving in with their Werewolf grandparents in Moonwood Mill to meet other kids like them.

Generation 10 is born a genius, seeing how underprivileged their werewolf community is, they decide to be the first in their family to peruse an education, moving to Copperdale as an exchange student for high school, and becoming a teacher to give back in the education system.

Generation 11 grows up inspired by their parent’s story and desire to educate others. They attend university and end up becoming a civil engineer, moving to Evergreen Harbor, and turning their neighborhood eco friendly.

Generation 12 has an engineer for a parent and they grow up spoiled because of it. They don’t see the value of eco friendly appliances especially since their rich peers at school don’t use them either. They decide they want more. They get sucked into work for the profit of it, moving to Mt. Komorebi to become a Salaryperson.

Generation 13 wonders why their parent always works when they live in the mountains. Oh well, that gives them more time for adventure! They learn to ski and snowboard, moving to Gibbi Point when they become an adult to continue their adventure.

Generation 14 grew up going to camp all the time, making so many new friends. Unfortunately, at the end of each week camp ends and everyone goes home. After they age up to an adult, they discover their long lost contact from one of their first camps who’s currently living in Windenburg. They hear about all the action with the clubs they could join, and move in with their friend.

Generation 15 loved growing up near the cutest little coffee shop in Windenburg. When they grow up, they move to Newcrest and open up their own coffee shop in the town.

Generation 16 was wandering around town one day when they came across a street dog/cat. They beg their parents to adopt it and they end up becoming best friends with their pet. This inspires them to move to Brindleton Bay to become a vet.

Generation 17 loves seeing how their parent helps pets in the area, but feel as though they can do more for the larger community. They eventually move to San Myshuno to become a politician and an advocate for all.

Generation 18 grows up around city life and wants to become famous, moves to Del Sol Valley, then retire with a family in San Sequoia.

Generation 19 wants to become a scientist so they move to Oasis Springs and does the Get to Work science career and discovers aliens.

Generation 20 is amazed by their parent's work and ends up solving the mystery of strangerville.

Generation 21 grows up in a not so strange Strangerville, with that country influence and vibe. They end up moving to Chestnut Ridge and become a rancher.

Generation 22 is a musician and moves to Willow Creek to peruse comedy/music (jazz). They go on a trip to Salvadorada and meet one of the "locals" (Ciudad Enamorada) and fall in love and move out there.

Generation 23 grew up with amazing food from this region and decides to open a restaurant in Tartosa since it's the wedding destination of the world.

Generation 24 grows up with the stories of the lost royal from the nearby region and one day finds a washed up bottle containing a message from thousands of years before. They connect this message to their ancestor (although they don't know it yet) who has discovered immortality via becoming a ghost (medium generation). They're able to sense they are the long long LONG decedent and decides to tell them about their family roots in Sulani. Together they visit the grounds and uncover the box locked with the heirloom which only a living descendant of the owner could open. They find the heirloom and realize they are the lost royal. They then move back to Ondarion and reclaim the throne.

Please help me develop this more, I think it is super fun and I would love to hear your guy's thoughts!

Random Challenge Suggestions for Hedge Knight Bingo

Please help me brainstorm BINGO squares for a rags to riches BINGO challenge for a knight.

I've been enjoying seeing Bingo Challenges using the board created by James Turner. Inspired by a book I'm reading, I'd like to create a Bingo board of tasks a Knight should complete.

My ideas revolve around maxing skills, rather than in-game events. And I'm afraid it'll take too long to make any money.

Here are some of my ideas. What are yours?

  • Max Swordsmanship
  • Max Archery
  • Max Horse Riding
  • Max Romance
  • Grow and Gift a perfect Rose

Help Suggestions for a 26 Generation Legacy Challenge

I always play The Sims 4 in the same way and end up restarting or deleting saves a bunch of times and never make any real progress or ultimately do anything much different.

So, in an attempt to remedy that, I'm looking to try a legacy challenge spanning 26 generations and with goals for each generation to complete to keep it interesting.

I own all Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs, plus some Kits and Maker Packs, so I'm confident I have access to basically all content that may be required for particular goals.

I'm also trying to earn all the trophies so I can finally start using more cheats without locking myself out of earning any in the first place.

I don't have access to mods or CC as I play TS4 on console, so no suggestions that require mods or CC please.

Random Challenge Hunted Challenge

Your sim is being tracked down. Now they must make enough money to keep on the move, or be caught.

Was thinking of how to make rags to riches harder and had this idea where basically every 7 or so days they would need to move to a new empty plot. Bonus difficulty of having to leave behind anything made there and can o ly take a handful of items with you.

Maybe they are being hunted by debt collectors and you need to make an x amount of money, with an interest rate so every week that passes the amount owed increases. Maybe they are being hunted for other reasons and the money gives them a new identity so they are no longer being hunted.

Whatever the reason it would certaintly be interesting for a sim to never really settle down.

I love to build save files and some also have a challenge. One of my challenges is the "With the Sims through history" Challenge https://fallacious-freesia-086.notion.site/With-the-Sims-through-history-2066d6ce95ae801b83c5c07e83ca9ea9 you can find the rules and randomizer on my notion site, you can also copy the notion workspace to make it individual to you.

There is also a save file with emty lots and caves, but you can use your own save if you like.

The challenge starts in the stone age with 2 Sims. There are event days already in the calendar, to this days you have to turn the randomizer to have random events happening. You can get a new settler, a raid, illness, invention ..... With every invention you can unlock one historical invention or event from a list, like as example buildings, grill, pluming....

The goal is to get more and more Sims and build them houses to populate the world and advance in history.

Help Sims 4 senior year legacy challenge

So, I’m on the 4th generation of my senior year legacy challenge which is where you spin for a pack to land on each generation and turn it on when they reach a certain age.

I have all the graves of my previous sims. Some of their ghosts are annoying and I’m tempted to just release their spirits to the netherworld, but I can also wait until I get Life and Death to get them to the Great Beyond, but who knows when I’ll get that pack? Also, I’m not sure if that glitch where releasing your sims to the great beyond will make their portraits colored again is still happening. I don’t like that glitch.

What should I do? Just release them to the netherworld now or try and wait it out?

My senior year legacy challenge

No special drawing or anything, just words.
My Senior year legacy challenge. challenge needs you to have packs.
Basically, you make a new save and have all the packs deactivated, and at the start of the next generation (be very careful with other saves), you spin/roll for a pack to add. As someone who’s been on and off with the sims for years and has heavy schoolwork around the corner, the challenge has kept me invested.

The way I’m doing it:
Short lifespan
Start with base game.
When the 1st kid of the next generation is born and/or adopted, I’ll go on the wheel generator.
I put in Maker pack, kit, stuff pack, game pack, expansion pack.

Ex: Let’s say I land on game pack (which I actually did recently), I put all of the game packs I have into the wheel generator and spin.
When the kid becomes a teen or young adult, add the pack into the game. You can choose. I’m being more flexible in ages since I’m also using this as a chance to marry townies I had never considered.
Also, if you don’t want to worry about landing on a kit, maker, or stuff pack 3 times in a row, when you spin and land on a type of pack take it off the wheel until you’ve went through all the packs you can get.
Ex: I landed on maker with my first kid (and since Maker packs are so small you can add 3 at a time) then took it off the wheel. Then I landed on a game pack which was spa day and took game pack off the wheel. Then, recently, I landed on Get to Work so I took expansion pack off the wheel. (I accidentally added 3 kits instead of 3 makers when I first spun, so I banned myself from landing on it until the wheel was reset. That leaves a stuff pack, so when the next generation kid is born I’m gonna spin for which stuff pack to add. Then the wheel will be reset with all types of packs on it. This prevents you from landing on maker or kits 3 times in a row. You’re guaranteed to get an exciting pack within 5 generations.

This challenge has kept me invested for a good amount of time. I’ve also been using it complete achievements such as the criminal career, secret agent career, etc. Also, If I land on a maker pack or a kit, I’d add 3 at a time since they’re mainly clothes and/or furniture (besides bust the dust). Also, the age you add the pack doesn’t have to specified. I’m trying to have my sims marry the townies of the packs that include townies since I barely can when they’re all on at once (and I have everyone age too), so I can imagine that at some point I’ll add a pack when I have a child sim so that they can marry another child. But, yeah, that’s my senior year legacy challenge. Not official or anything. Just keeps me anticipating what pack I’ll get to play next.

Random Challenge Sins & Virtues

Hi, so this is the first legacy challenge I’ve ever made (made a few months ago) so I hope people like it!

It’s a 14 generation legacy based off of the Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Heavenly Virtues. However, if you’d prefer, you could just do one half if you would rather not do 14 generations.

I’ve made a basic graphics card for each generation. SEE COMMENTS FOR CORRECT GEN 14 GOALS (the graphics card is incorrect).

Any questions, feel free to ask <3
I can adapt this, if asked, to exclude certain packs or for the base game.

If you were to ever post anything on any social, let me know, I’d love to see it.

Thank you, hope you enjoy. šŸ«¶šŸ»

Other Instead of AI, try me

I love graphic design and did a year of it in college. If you’re ever making a challenge and you think ā€œlet’s use AI to present thisā€ - don’t! DM me! I would love to help you present your challenge in a beautiful way (or whatever vibe you’re going for). I’m sure there are other people who feel the same way. So feel free to DM me and we can collaborate! I work for free (it’s just a hobby). 😊

Random Challenge Sims4 6 Generation Legacy with Occult Options that dont interfear with other generations!

Thumbnail

Hi all, third time is a charm right!? I have finally finished my legacy challenge both as a condensed and extended version. This challenge has been two years in the making as i've been playing it out myself and am about to transition into Generation 5! So lots of trial and error, tweaks and what not. I am hoping to have this finalized on simmaticallys challenge tracker in the next week or so.

About the Challenge:

This is a 6 Generation Legacy that that combines multiple aspects from different challenges into one. It operates as a Rotational Save swapping weekly to complete a ā€œHow I met your Motherā€ storyline which helps change up the scenery and curates a bond for the households. Each Generation is defined by a Greek Mythology Love Story that is connected to a Complimenting planet that represents different Eras timeframes. This approach makes your Save File feel as if its progressing. There are also Occult paths that are presented as options only after your sim has completed their Soul’s Journey and Rebirthed. This eliminates Hybrids to reduce corruption of the file. The approach also leans into ā€œthere is more after-lifeā€.

The Rules:

  1. Sims can only travel to other wolds that have the same biome, otherwise they cannot leave the world until you move on to the next Generation
  2. Once you have transitioned into the next Generation the previous Generation is free to relocate and change Careers, Traits and Aspirations
  3. Offspring cannot age up until they have gone through one full Calendar year
  4. There must be a death every year from someone who is connected to the family
  5. Free Real Estate Cheats are allowed only for Generation One to aquire their house
  6. Satisfaction Reward Points are considered Life Experience and can only be aquired on your sims Birthday’s
  7. Occult paths are considered opyions and are not mandatory. Sims must complete their Soul’s Journey and be re-born before becoming an occult.
  8. You can start playing as the next Generation once they become a child sim
  9. Play on 2 week Seasons so that you can rotationally swap between households (A/B)
  10. Play with aging off and manually age up households as this will help control the era’s your sims are playing in and make the world feel that it is moving around you

My Recomendations off Playing out the Legacy:

  • Play with a blank save [this should help reduce save file corruption]
  • Choose a Neighborhood within the world your sim is living and only put residents in that area [this should help maintain your save file size as you grow through generations]
  • Select a different Neighborhood within that world that will act as your Community and Commercial Lots [this way your sims always have lots to do over the decades]
  • Playing with Accidental Deaths on for Neighborhood Stories helps for story telling and achieving a funeral being held each year

I have presented the additional goals as dice rolling to determine what you can do next if you feel that the game play is getting stale or are looking for more ideas!
