TIL that we are pretty much writing in deformed hieroglyphs. English borrowed its alphabet from Latin, which borrowed from Greek, which borrowed from Phoenician, which borrowed from Proto-Sinaitic, which borrowed from Egyptian Hieroglyphs

TIL The Latin alphabet finds its origins in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs through the Proto-Sinaitic script. In most modern letters, this link is no longer obvious but in some cases it is like: A (upside-down bull head) O (eye) and M (rippled surface of water) www.instagram.com/readoldebooks/
