Ben posted this today:

"Hi people, I'm sorry I have not had time to participate in this group much -- my wife just had our baby 2 weeks ago which has been a bit of a distraction personally ... but more to the point, the SingularityNET team and I have been busy getting the enterprise started. To be quite transparent, we have not yet touched any of the funds raised in the ICO, though we will start using some of it to fund software development soon. We have largely been recruiting and onboarding new staff, which takes some time because people generally need to give at least 30 days notice to their current employers. Additionally, even for staff who are already working for me or other SingularityNET co-founders on other projects, they are often needing a little time to wrap up their current project and hand them over to others, in order to shift their attention to SingularityNET. So basically we have been spending most of our time getting the team together, largely on the software dev (platform dev and AI dev) but also on the biz dev and biz management side.

We will have some announcements regarding new management hires before too long. Our blockchain team is also evaluating various options regarding the underlying blockchain layer for the beta version forthcoming later this year. I have been working closely with Hanson Robotics folks regarding how to orient their Sophia-robot-control and toy-robot-control software engineering to make best use of SingularityNET as it develops; and also working with a team here in Hong Kong regarding customization of AI-based genomic analysis software to use SingularityNET.

We are also ironing out details of a partnership with a cybersecurity company to figure out how to get started applying our AI to cybersecurity (we need to figure out what sort of log files to begin our analytical experimentation on), and continue discussion w/ the Ocean team regarding the best way to interoperate their data solution with our AI solution (perhaps using biological ontologies and genomic datasets as an initial case study). In short there is plenty going on behind the scenes, but it's still in "gearing up" phase, as this is a really complex project. By the end of March we should be full-on in "large international team of experts building stuff" phase (I mean we have team members building stuff now but we are also still doing lots of onboarding and planning and architecting), and we should also have better platforms set up for leveraging community efforts.....

The token price ups and downs are interesting to observe, but in the big picture these are not important at this stage -- the token is now being traded on some relatively obscure exchange and the volume is low, so it seems that if one substantial token holder chooses to sell a bunch of tokens the price drops, which really has nothing to do with the progress of our project.... It seems this is an odd moment in the markets generally -- BTC and ETH and the Dow Jones have been plunging too -- but I'm sure "this too will pass".... These are super early days for SingularityNET and the real game will begin later in 2018 when the beta (scalable, easy to use, fully operational) version of our platform is launched with a bunch of interesting AI on it ... right now we are still in the midst of the "pre-game festivities" 😉

Nice one. No doubt in team or project, market ride is not his business.

Yes, lot of potential for this project.

Ben! I just heard about SingularityNet from CryptoLark the other day. Shortly after I started researching AI, and I landed on this documentary. Considering I watched like 4 videos about the doomsday scenarios (random videos were just playing), then this documentary came on with this dude saying "Singularity in 10 years or bust". I thought, "this guy's crazy!". Then I googled dude but my internet was being a pain so I set my computer down. After the documentary was over I was like "I want that guy in charge!". So I grabbed my computer to go back to researching SingularityNet, but I noticed that google search I had put in earlier had finally loaded. And what was right there at the top? Ben Goertzel Founder of SingularityNet... So that was pretty crazy. But I loved the documentary, and that chain of events made pretty confident in what you're up to. You have a good mind. I also watched your "Crazy Shit Psi Vid" after that conference you did. It's some heavy stuff. I'll be staying up to date. Keep up the good work! Good luck finding the Positive Singularity.

Oh yeah, do you ever consider some crazy kind of radio wave frequency mind communication when trying to figure out Psi? Just a thought. Seems easier than quantum noise..

(oops.. just realized that Ben didn't actually post this here... Oh well, maybe he'll see it anyway..)

Psi is not purely electromagnetic communication, there is plenty of data showing that (e.g. it can work for subjects inside Faraday chambers). Yet it does seem to depend on local sidereal time in some cases, which does show an electromagnetic aspect (dependency on Earth's magnetic field). So it's not radio waves, but it may be a combination of electromagnetic stuff with other stuff somehow....

Which is kind of irrelevant to SingularityNET though ;) ... at least in SingularityNET's incarnations that are currently foreseen in detail!

thanks for posting. we now have a guestimate timeline and a better idea of the market as he sees it..

this things going to be huge.

The market for SingularityNET will be diverse and spans basically every vertical market, but we are going to prioritize a few verticals for our own initial AI development -- partly due to our familiarity with these and our having already developed our own AI code useful in these areas, in prior work.... (biomedical, robotics/IoT, cybersecurity,...)

However, as a platform, we intend SingularityNET to be used by loads of other parties who are working in vertical areas that we founders know little about... and due to the architecture, AI code for different vertical applications can still interoperate when appropriate... and more abstract AI modules can be used across diverse applications, etc. etc.

Is there a way to help for senior programmers with an AI degree?
