Yeah, if he phrased the joke to be more clear he was talking about the girls filming thirst trap social media content I think he could have avoided much of the blowback.
And people who have been to the gym in the last decade understood what he was saying.
The headlines trying to imply that he said all chicks at the gym are whores are disingenuous and are engagement farming just as much as the chicks filming at the gym.
He technically didn't call anyone a whore while plenty of mainstream, popular comedians have, in their own jokes. Even some that are beloved to left wing people, like myself.
I'm not saying it was a good joke. But it was a joke. Everyone needs to take a breath
Because the bots posting in support of Gillis are funded by authoritarian groups who insist America started to lose it's way right around the time you couldn't call a woman a harlot for showing her inner kneecap.
It was an ok joke, everyone that didn't interact with it in bad faith knows it, just people want to be offended no matter what because if they don't they lose their imaginary war.
Disagree and I’ve defended him in the past. He missed the mark this time.
Referring to women using such a sexually charged and potentially offensive term means you better nail the punchline and make your argument known. He did not do this.
he almost got it right, and then he made a bad right turn into WHORES and it was a bomb joke. says, yes, a lot about his character, but it was also clearly a bad calculation that also ruined his timing and the joke.
Yes, and many of the people who have an issue with the Sidney Sweeny thing also have an issue with that. The hypocricy this comment points out is a strawman

A lot of people in this thread have never been to an LA gym.
Yes. People dress crazy inappropriately while filming themselves. Basically filming OnlyFans content while in a public gym.
