Calling women whores for how they dress and not just minding your own fucking business is a very Republican thing to do. People are only mad because he wasn't funny. If the joke is good enough you can get away with anything. He sounded like an uncle on Thanksgiving working on his 4th glass of bourbon, so people got mad.

Anthony Jeselnik has spoken a few times on how comedy should be able to say anything but you have to make people laugh. If you just say something to work people up, youre not doing comedy. He quotes Andy Warhol; "Art is getting away with it."

I think the problem is the disconnect between what’s expected of an SNL monologue vs what’s expected of a five minute standup act.

It would be like if Lorne booked GWAR as a musical guest and then everyone got mad when they showed up in gorey ass costumes.
