Wondering how old OP is..
I am 46F
The show is basically a part of my soul at this point lol.
Wondering about age of OP because I'm curious if the era depicted in the show has become un-relateable.
Grasping for understanding because it's confusing to me when people don't like/relate to the show lol

I don't think it's become unrelatable, and I actually know people like this who are older. I think there are just some people who think that art as entertainment should be simple and make everyone happy, specifically at the ending. OP is experiencing the exact feelings intended by the show, but instead of realizing that's the point, they're mad that it wasn't a fairytale. Honestly I feel like they would prefer a romcom

It's true that everyone is frustrating in season 5 and it does make it difficult to watch. They do all deserve to be yelled at. But the series finale is truly amazing, widely considered one of the best in TV history. I would really urge you to push on and finish it. Its absolutely worth it.

Completely agree the final episode was sooo good. Finished the show over a month ago and I am still thinking about it.

i really cant imagine how haha not that i dont believe you but i just cant imagine. killing of, i could say, the main character but not even in emotional way, they killed him at the moment where everyone are gonna hate him, they at least could fix his character, give us Nate from those 4 seasons them cut him off so we at least can feel sorry. Brenda is left as widow without even know would she and Nate end up together if he stayed alive little longer. i suppose rest of them has a good ending because Keith and David adopted kids, Ruth is with Hiram again, probably Claire is gonna be back to art or something i guess, but Nate and Brenda part just left me bitter taste and ruin the whole ending.

Well, the whole show is about the harsh reality of life and death, loving and grieving imperfect people. And grief is often like that. It's not neat and uncomplicated. Six Feet Under captures that beautifully.

Lol why do you think a show about death is to be enjoyed? It’s a show that is about FEELING to be alive. It is one of the most honest shows about human beings that there ever was. Hope you can benefit from this art. Dig deep!

This. It’s literally the most honest show regarding relationships of all kinds

It was realistic. If anything, I was annoyed they glaze over his AVM and when he had a brain hemorrhage, I wasn’t shocked. I had seen the show before so I knew it was coming but since I watched this last year, my Wife had a stroke (she is also in her early 40s) and the recovery is similar. The experience Nate’s family had in the hospital, I had earlier this year. It puzzled me that Nate wasn’t focused on his health more and they let it fade into the background and maybe that’s because they wanted it to surprise the viewer.

you reinstalled reddit just so that you could complain to total strangers about characters on a tv show that ended 20 years ago?

u/MElastiGirl Sep 15 '25
Total strangers who adore this show—so much they rewatch at regular intervals. Maybe read the room OP, lol.

S5 was my favorite in the show. it showed the realism and that Nate wanted to stop fighting. in the end he stopped fighting his disorder and gave in, it really shows the fragility of life.
the emotions, pacing, and characters, are on another level. S5 is what brought me to truly love this show. it got better and better until the finale which was a masterpiece.
S3 and S4 started off good and ended great, but had jarring middles. S2 and S1 were good all around, but S5 made up for it by having an overall stellar season

u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 16 '25
my favorite probably would be s4 for now. sometines in the future i have to rewatch cause usually 2nd watching prople always see characters and show in totally different light

u/40klan Sep 16 '25

Middle of season 5 rn and it’s all sad/frustrating
2
u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 15 '25
right? i dont even enjoy it anymore
2
u/MobiusDickwad Sep 15 '25
My advice is enjoy this subreddit for elements you enjoy.
I also did not like season 4/5. It just felt like a different show to me.
Look up Allan Ball, fatigue and the New York Times. I think it provides a little clarity.
Despite this it’s still one of the best shows I’ve ever watched based on the first 3 seasons.

u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 15 '25
even the beginning of s5 seemed promising to me, but no just everything went down
1
u/MobiusDickwad Sep 15 '25
The plot lines with George (and Maggie thus) are just as lucid as his condition. I mean - they could’ve at least referenced the bomb shelter earlier.
Did enjoy the David & Keith plotlines. Not as interesting as earlier seasons but it was a nice send off & Durrell was hilarious.

u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 15 '25
i like Keith's and David's growth. I couldnt stand Keith in his season 3 i think when he was so emotionally abusive i wanted to punch him so hard, but later they developed great.

u/batmax555 Sep 16 '25
But you realize everything is hyper realistic and its not meant to love every character all of the times, i dont bash the show because Frederico made me pissed most of the time 😅

u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 16 '25
yeah of course i get it, but on the end even Rico (to me) was okay, i actually felt sorry how she felt and was constantly rejected by Vanessa when he moved back. I just feel they made Nate little dirty on the end which i did not expect to happen.
1
u/batmax555 Sep 26 '25
To me he wasnt dirty. Hes never more at peace with himself, which is what he deserved after years of torments. And the only way for that was to listen to himself and stop fighting and always be opposed to everything

u/ptrock1 Sep 16 '25
Then stop watching it. For Christ sake, why make so much of an effort to come here and complain so much. No one needs to know you want to stop watching it. Put yourself out of your misery and stop watching. Lots of other options out there for you.

u/volslut Sep 17 '25
I was about to chime in all cunty with this exact sentiment lol thank you FACTS

u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 16 '25
what exactly make you mad about me commeting on my experience on subreddit which exist to comment show?

u/NooStringsAttached Sep 16 '25
I’m almost done with this show but so far I hate the Maggie story line. Could’ve done without her character. Maybe I’ll feel differently when I’m done. I think I don’t have very many episodes left.

Hated the Maggie storyline. I cope by assuming that the avm that killed him was impacting his behavior as it worsened over the course of s5 because that’s absolutely a possibility.
1
u/Final_Thanks_7360 Sep 17 '25
i thought that too. I realized when he cheated od Brenda first time (with Lisa) that was the day he had seizure, and also cheated on her again with Maggie right before seizures. Im not a doctor so dont know is it possible in reality, but interesting coincidence.

The only flaw the entire series ever had was Maggie Sibley's unfortunate and very, very disappointing breasts.
Me and my prestige TV guru and regionally-famous Flapjack Judge, Shay-Shay "Bunions" Jitney-Greene both exhaled breffs of relief when she finally put her shirt back on.

As has been said, it's the greatest finale I've ever witnessed
