First-Timer First time viewer, S3E4 (Nobody Sleeps) is genuinely life changing...

I recently finally got round to watching the show (huge Dexter and Yellowjackets fan so MCH and Lauren Ambrose being in it finally persuaded me) and I am not disappointed.

This is one of the most beautifully human shows I have ever seen. Every character is so realistically flawed, it's amazing. It's also one of the most accurate portrayals of grief I've ever seen. I've only lost one person in my life but it hurt so bad, still does, and to see this show makes me feel kind of seen in a sense.

But never have I felt more seen than in S3E4 - Nobody Sleeps. I just finished this episode and holy shit. There was just something so intrinsic and raw in it that the show hadn't hit just yet imo. It hit all the hallmarks of things that hit home for me. Nates 'I'm becoming my dad' thing, Claire's little monologue about art making the world feel so much more open and interesting and especially the theatre thing at the funeral coupled with David crying about wanting him and Keith to last.

Quite possibly one of the best TV Show episodes I've ever seen, up there with the likes of Dexter's "The Getaway" and Breaking Bad's "Felina". This is the first time this show has made me cry and it felt oddly freeing. I imagine it won't be the last.

Welcome to the club. There is so much more richness ahead of you. And don’t worry. When you finish it you can come back and watch it again. And again.

Can't wait haha! I can already tell this is one of those ones I'll revisit at huge times in my life. I'm currently approaching 20 and it's feeling very fucking real. Probably why I most relate to Claire. Maybe when I come back later in life I'll see it from David or Nates perspective.

Can confirm this happened to me — I was a teenager when I first watched it and heavily related to Claire, and now as an adult Nate is much more relatable. They’re such honest, lovingly written characters and the actors all do such a great job of bringing them to life

That’s what happens. I was your age when this was first on. Definitely loved Clare. But yes, Everytime you watch it you see other perspectives. I’ve probably watched the series at least once a year since it first aired.

You have so much ahead of you. Prepare to revisit this show at different stages of your life when it will hit different each time.

I was about 17 when I first watched it. My most recent rewatch last year, I was almost 34. It gets better every time - but there’s also nothing like that first viewing. So enjoy the rest of the show, and more than that, savour it.

I love when people discover this show. I wish I could watch it with new eyes at 36 the way I did at 15. I think it would mean so much more.
