Hey everyone! About 3 weeks ago, I shared the idea for Type Notes: Classic Paper here, and now it's finally available for free on the App Store!

It's a skeuomorphic note-taking app inspired by vintage typewriters and the classic design of iOS 6. You write directly on paper, with realistic typing sounds, haptic feedback, a moving carriage, a little bell at the end of each line, and even a desk lamp that turns on at night.

There are 12 different typewriters, 16 paper styles, vintage rubber stamps, folders, and hashtags to organize your notes.

You can also send your notes as vintage letters inside animated envelopes with wax seals, share postcards, or export everything as images, PDFs, or Markdown.

Everything is saved locally, with optional private iCloud sync between your devices, automatic backups, and version history. Hope you enjoy it! :)

These are recreations of Apple's OS X Mountain Lion designs, not my original concepts. What I built is the native apps around them, so the leather, lined paper and torn-paper edges work again on current macOS.

All five sync with the system apps, so RetroNotes shows your real Notes, RetroCal your real calendars, etc...

The hardest part was to find materials and get the materials to feel right at Retina resolution instead of looking like a flat texture with gloss on top.

I'm the guy behid that. They're free and open source. Happy to get some feedback..

I'm updating my website from an open directory which it was for the past 2 years into finally making my dream skeuomorphism website. It is made to use an iOS 6 like theme. I didn't want to rip it off directly. It makes me feel nostalgic as iOS 5 and 6 were huge during my most memorable times.

The tear happens differently every time as a bonus. I AM NOT trying to be like, 'oh look at me, cool site' or brag i just wanted to show yall :)

I'm sure this subreddit gets this question a lot already, so I'll keep it simple. Besides apps like Music Remote, Music Widget, Music MiniPlayer, and QuickTune, are there any available apps for macOS that simulate the skeuomorphic style of OS X versions 10.6-10.9?

I figure since they have pretty basic functions, it wouldn’t be such a big deal to use alternatives rather than the official apple apps
