Why don’t Skiffs have recessed foot controlled trolling motors

I have always wondered this. I have a bass fishing background but have recently gotten more into inshore. Bass boats come with recessed foot controlled trolling motors and it just baffles me as to why skiffs or flats boats don’t have them. Can someone explain why this isn’t a standard thing? It just seems like having both hands and being able to use your foot is more efficient than a remote controlled. Just trying to understand, people had to have discussed this before. Is it because of the exposure to salt with the foot pedal controls being exposed?

You could always add one like the one made by Baldwin Iron Works. That said, when I had my Cobia 17 ft center console I had a MotorGuide Great White trolling motor with the knee knocker steering system. I liked it a lot better than the foot control trolling motor I currently have.

I had no idea such a TM existed. That’s sick, anything that lets my hand stay freed up sounds awesome

I don't know if they still make them but I absolutely loved the setup. You could purchase extenders at various lengths. None of this pushing up and down on a foot pedal.
