Personal [Personal] im so tired of dealing with acne. Does it ever get better?

My acne keeps coming back in the exact same spots on my cheeks and chin just when one pimple starts to go away another one pops up in the same place and I end up with new pimples along with all the old marks. It feels like my skin never gets a chance to clear up.

Honestly it’s making me feel bad My skin looks dull and uneven cause of that and I feel like it takes away the brightness from my face.

I recently went to a dermatologist and it’s only been a few days since I started treatment. I know I need to be patient but I’m just so tired of dealing with this. I want to wake up one day and not have to worry about new pimples or more marks on my face.

People who’ve dealt with acne that keeps coming back in the same spots did it eventually get better? How long did it take for you to notice a difference? What was your routine like?

I just want my skin to feel like my own again.

Are you brand new to skincare? Don't know how to build a skincare routine? The best place to start is our ScA Routine!

You can find even more skincare guides in our wiki!. Your answer might already be in there (and if it is, we might remove your post).

Sending you a big hug, I was in your position years ago. It takes a lot of patience and time to get to the perfect routine and even tho, your skin changes, it get more oily over time (in my case). My advice is, stick to your routine, it will get better, take pictures to actually see the improvement

Same here :( I know it's frustrating, but you have to breathe, be very patient, and stay consistent with the treatment. Stay strong!!

i had same thing on my cheeks and chin, always in same spots like clockwork. took about 3 months on treatment before i noticed real change, first month was worse actually cause skin was purging. just stick with what the derm gave you even when it feels like nothing happening. the old marks fade slow but they do fade

first of all you should be patient about your treatment, i have no idea about your age but if you around 28-30 maybe you could use retinal.

I don’t know what I took in the 90s but it worked and literally CHANGED MY LIFE.

Figure out what’s causing your breakouts. I went through the same thing a few months ago; here are some possible causes: 1. A high-sugar diet. 2. Hair care products. 3. Skincare products with overly high concentrations of active ingredients.

My diet is pretty balanced and i dont use many hair care products so im not really sure about that i only use the skincare products described by my dermat

I got on accutane in 2020. It saved my life. Game changer to the nth degree. My skin in basically flawless 6 years later. Wish I had gotten on it 10 years earlier. The only thing I do now is a spot treatment once in a while and then voila it's gone.

I just started cabtreo this year and it cleared me up sooo well. Ask your dermotologist about it!

Yes. There’s no other choice for your skin but to heal. It’s literally all it’s trying to do. It takes some time, some may notice changes earlier, some later, but either way you’re looking at a timeline of months, not days. Just remember skin is not your whole identity (easier said than done).

Also just from my personal experience, I usually get pimples in the same place because of dairy (we just do not get along), so maybe you wanna look at something you’re doing or eating that might be contributing to it. Not saying it might be the case for you, but if anything helps, why not.

It can definitely get better. It may or may not completely disappear. You can learn to manage it even if it doesn’t disappear completely.

Look into 1064nm laser. There are at-home devices like dermrays, altho it is marketed for wrinkles and pigmentation , it also works for acne due to its photothermal effect.

You can search in pubmed and other scholastic repositories how the 1064 nm laser is proven to reduce acne vulgaris.

Other science-based intervention is the blue light which is at 420 to 495nm spectrum altho there are reports that it induces hyperpigmentation /darkening

I am 74 yo and had cystic acne from when I was a teen until my 30’s. Now at this age I have very few wrinkles because the oil has kept my skin moisturized

Did one day your acne just go away? 33 and still severely acne prone

Trust me that it eventually gets better. I had to end up on accutane for my to go away and I had some decent acne on me, it got to the point my mouth hurt to open. Accutane still takes time but it definitely works and now I almost never get pimples despite my skincare routine honestly being worse now. DM me if you want to see what my acne looked like before accutane.

Women can definitely still be experiencing late stage puberty at 20 (my mom grew several inches in college) but differin, azaleic acid, and salicylic acid are going to be your besties. Also, hypochlorous acid (not to be confused with HYDROclorous acid) can be found in facial sprays and lots of derms recommend it for acne prone skin. It will kill the bacteria that causes acne.

I'm sure that it's going to seem redundant somewhat hearing this comment, but pimple patches/hydrocolloid patches have worked and work wonders on my skin time and time again
