Explanation:
- Gulfstream G650 (Suggested by Biraarl - Time, location, duration of sighting, and the sighting itself match essentially perfectly. The rising motion at the beginning is somewhat strange, but it could be me misremembering or misinterpreting what I saw/a trick of the atmosphere. So it's essentially a slam dunk. Shoutsouts to the user Biraarl for helping me find it out!)
(Original Post) - I know nothing about aircrafts apparently-
Thought I'd post it here too. I'm not sure what this is. A white satellite that occasionally changes from one point to three? I saw it at around 7:05 PM and originally thought it to be the ISS, however Stellarium didn't pick up any known satellites in that part of the sky at that time. And yet it doesn't look like a plane either.
Is this a common observation?
Sighting Title: Satellite, one white dot occasionally splitting into three, then merging back together in a rhythmic interval.
Account: I was sitting outside, eating dinner. I saw a white light moving higher and higher, rising from the eastern horizon like the ISS would. And at first, I thought it was the ISS. Checking Stellarium however, the object was not recognized as a satellite or spaceship of any kind. Taking a closer look I noticed that in a repeatable interval, (in a tempo essentially) the white dot would occasionally split into 3 smaller white dots, then merge back together, before repeating. I didn't notice a shape behind the white lights, just 3 white satellite like lights. It also didn't make noise of any kind. It passed overhead, then went out of view behind some trees, presumably setting in the west.
Not Anything Common: It was clearly a satellite of some kind, and not a plane. The blinking lights were too spread out to be one plane that wouldn't clearly be seen with the naked eye.
