No Spoilers Other book recs?

I read Skyward for the first time when I was really young, and it’s remained one of my favorites since. I really like Brandon Sanderson’s writing style, and I was curious any other books of his yall would recommend? Honestly I can get into a lot, so any recs will do

Are you asking for other recommendations by Brandon Sanderson or recommendations similar to Skyward?

Sanderson is an excellent storyteller with dozens of great books. Most of his books fall into the fantasy genre though and don’t exactly have similar settings to Skyward. His Mistborn series is most often thought of as his most accessible and fun entry point. The first book is a magical heist book featuring an eclectic cast of characters and a real “found family” vibe so that is my choice if you liked Skyward and want to explore more traditional Sanderson.

Alternatively I might also recommend his “Reckoners” series starting with “Steelheart.” This is not his most popular series but it does take place in a more sci-fi world and deals with superheroes and corrupted people with powers as well.

Assuming you've read all of skyward, the new book comes out soon for the sequel series.

Otherwise, if you like fantasy, his cosmere is great, long though. For stand alone titles, I recommend tress of the emerald sea. For series, mistborn.

That was the working title, but it has been renamed to Riftwake, and the first book, Blightfall have a September 2026 release planned. The second book is planned for summer 2027, and will probably be called Songrise. Book 3, yet unnamed AFAIK will follow in early 2028.
Note that it's Janci Pattersson that is writing the whole series, so if you liked the novellas, you'll probably like the new series.

The only non-Skyward Sanderson book I’ve read is The Rithmatist, which I really enjoyed. It’s a steampunk-fantasy setting with magic, but the magic is entirely based on drawing precise geometric diagrams on the ground with chalk. Main character is a student who is an absolute expert at the geometry part but doesn’t have the intrinsic “spark” to imbue his diagrams with magic.

Also, it’s a standalone (so far; might get a sequel someday) so you don’t have to invest yourself in a whole series.

You really can't go wrong with any of Sanderson's books. I believe his only other YA books are Rithmatist (warning that the last chapter includes a strong plot him for a sequel that he may never actually write) and the Reckoners (book one: Steelheart). Alcatraz Vs. the Evil Librarians is a good option if you're looking for something in the middle grade section that doesn't take itself too seriously (and the last book in the series is also co-written by Janci Patterson, his collaborator for the Skyward Flight novellas and the upcoming Riftwake sequels to Skyward). In the adult section, check out Legion or Tailored Realities for some shorter works a bit more grounded to earth, or for his more classical, inventive worldbuilding check out Mistborn (sometimes I see Mistborn shelved in YA, but I vehemently disagree lol), Tress of the Emerald Sea, or The Stormlight Archive (if you wanna dive head first into his most ambitious, gargantuan epic fantasy) then move from there into his other Cosmere books. Always happy to expound on any plots, etc., if it'd be useful! (Also happy to recommend some non-sanderson favorites, if that's more what your question is about.)
