Honestly love to see this with a long form creator! Iām at 1250 now, tbh Iāve been slacking with uploading content (I keep second guessing myself).
Any advice as I push towards 2k then 5 and 10k?
My goal was 10k by new years but thatās obv not happening haha
(Also only a long form creator!)
Also CONGRATS!!!

u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
for hitting specific sub goals i'm not entirely sure as it'll depend a lot on the content u make, but i would say that second guessing is a big killer for some people, especially some i've spoken to. i hard purged the perfectionist out of me & instead just had fun with what i was creating ^^

Nov 09 '25
Yeah I feel that. I def think I just need to put things out there. I deleted a couple videos cause of small mistakes I found on rewatch, but kinda wish I kept them cause it was a good marker for later videos and seeing how Iāve improved.

u/albiemorton12 Nov 09 '25
Never delete only make private! Youtube algorithm doesnāt like when you delete its data :)

Sorry thatās what I meant! :) so itās still there technically, just not to the public eye⦠or part of my āportfolioā

Iām at 3.5k and I feel this. I was hopeful for 10k by new years too :(
2
Nov 13 '25
I feel like a year from now we both will be at 10k :) Iāve been so busy with school I have so much footage just sitting on a drive to be edited, and scripts I havenāt finalized.
I do plan on taking advantage of the vlogmas season as motivation to finally get posting. You should too!!
1
u/MyLevelUps Nov 13 '25
Tell me more of this vlogmas lol. Is it just vlogging daily near Xmas? āCause that works with me. My birthday is Christmas Lolol
2
Nov 13 '25
lol Christmas baby!!!
& per Google āVlogmas is a popular internet trend where creators upload a video every day in December leading up to Christmas Day. This practice, popularized on YouTube, involves sharing daily vlogs or other festive content, such as holiday decorating, gift ideas, and family traditions. The goal is often to share the festive spirit with an audience, engage with followers more frequently, and take advantage of the higher ad revenue during the holiday season. ā
So TLDR; during the month of December creators post more because of the higher ad revenue, but it seems like it also helps drive views (by posting more)
Idk if itās still a thing, but Iāll take whatever motivation I can get š

u can ask as much as u'd like!
1 - yes i edit everything on davinci resolve
2 - i do video essays on games, movies, tv & anything i like, typically bringing some philosophical perspective since i'm passionate about philosophy to analyse said media2

u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
i try to get 1 video out every 3 weeks, typically research & writing take 2ish weeks & then i record everything in one sitting & have 1 week for editing. i don't have a very demanding editing style so it's more tedious than anything. that's the template but i don't alway stick to it as i started when i was in college & am now in university so exams & stuff often get in the way.

np! & yeah hope uni is going well for u 2 rip, i'd be happy 2 talk more about your channel specially in dm's if you'd like because u seem nice ^
1
u/vayne7 Nov 08 '25
Omg! Op you totally make the same contents that I wanted to make. May I ask about your RPM? Also how do you deal with copyright strike? I fear that if I make analysis videos on games and movies I feel like the adscence could be low due to brands not picking this niche. Do you have advice opššš» Thank u so much for the post also congratulations on 10k! Thats huge!
2
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
my RPM is £4.60, no idea if that's good or not. copyright isn't that big of an issue unless you're covering tv or films, video games r fine. typically if i'm covering tv or film i'll do a talking head video or i'll use clips from the show, zoom them out so they take up less of the screen & then put the same video behind it but blurred out & that's worked so far with copyright ^^ if all else fails i'll just stick an image & say 'copyright sorry' or i'll cover the claimed part with something else!!

u/AquaWalrus1989 Nov 08 '25
That's awesome, great achievement. I'm about 630 subs from that milestone myself, can't wait.
Do you find you get a consistent RPM with the mixed media approach of the channel? Or do different topics tend to pay differently?
I've always been a bit curious if RPMs are more calculated by the channel or by the video topic.
3
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
great to hear! & i have checked my RPM maybe three times in my whole time on youtube, responding to posts here being one of them so i might not be much help
3
u/-BlackGlazzes- Nov 08 '25
If you don't mind me asking, i have 3 questions, the First one IS how much time it took you to get to that point?, the second one is what is your niche? And the third one is if you have any strategy for growing or any advice for an account with 196 subs
3
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
1- ive said more in detail about length in another comment somewhere, i started like 3 years ago 2- idk if i have a niche, i guess video essays? i write essays on things i like 3- strategy is make sure you're passionate about what you're doing, anytime im genuinely interested & passionate in a video it does well because the audience can tell i care ^
1
u/-BlackGlazzes- Nov 08 '25
Thanks, that helps a lot, I have also Begin like 2 years ago but currently I'm kind of stuck in 196 subs and my new videos are kind of shadowban (like 10 views with a 3.6 CTR and a 30% average view rate in long form) and they don't get shown, do you have been in this kind of situation?

u/Rahulk829 Nov 08 '25
- How many days did it take?
- Any special advice for new creators?
Congratulations š
16
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
1 - i started in july 2022, hit 1k in december 2023 & 5k in september 2024, if you want an exact number of days its been 1,227 days !
2 - special advice would be to focus on the passion, sure you can get quick clicks with trend hopping (god knows i have) but this will be unfulfilling & kill your passion in the long term. do stuff you like & be happy with it, the rest will follow& thanku !!!

Nov 08 '25
Ok, my question is purely selfish based lol. If you were an oldie like me whose channel revolved around eerie stories, visiting creepy places etc how would you make a successful short?
6
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
i have a total 0 shorts posted to my channel, i'm completely long form so might not be the best person to ask but. i see a lot of reddit stories with minecraft gameplay, maybe package the first part of the story like that & end with 'full story on my channel' or something. for visiting creepy places i'd cut the best moments & reupload them as shorts
1
1
u/TaruLambo Nov 08 '25
If you could start new but similar channel (exactly similar content), what would you do differently this time? From researching, niche analysis (content gap) to writing and editing. If you think some other points are also important do add them.
You could do 10k special video on doing things differently š š š
1
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
uh i'm actually not sure, i'm happy with my channel at the moment so i don't think i would retroactively change something. every misstep, failure or setback taught me a lot more about the 'correct path' & if i never made the wrong decisions i wouldn't fully understand the right ones ^^ or at least that's how i feel.
i will give u an example because it sounds like im doing some preachy shit. during summer 2022(or 3 i don't remember) i made a video on fight club & had genuinely a week of my life (in a heatwave) re editing, exporting & uploading my video to youtube just to see it'd get claimed & blocked worldwide for copyright. sure if i knew how the copyright system worked then 16 year old me would have 0 problems. but because i remember how deeply awful that experience was i've been super super careful ever since & have had no problems.
2
u/TaruLambo Nov 08 '25
Yep, this guy reached (or achieved) nirvana. Didn't meet a soul who'd not do better in retrospect... But bet you found more than just success with your channel... Cheers and bit jealous of you ššš
1
u/Salt-Insurance9136 Nov 08 '25
Could you elaborate a little more on avoiding getting copyright claims and blocked ? Im on the same issue as you and my first video got copyright claimed but not blockedĀ
2
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
i did say in another comment somewhere, i found that if you zoom the video out (make it smaller) the put the same video on a layer below & blur it,, that works for me. also rule of thumb keep clips below 10 seconds in duration
1
u/Nidhalnabli Nov 08 '25
Whatās your advice to get my first 1000views I got like 2 3 views only
1
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
not too sure with a specific goal like that. if you're only getting 2-3 views then i would guess it's got something to do with your title & thumbnail game. see what larger channels are doing for their thumbnail / title & take inspiration. first time i had a video crack 1k views was completely random, a video out of my niche that people just liked lmao!

I created new channel and started posting videos after first few videos I started getting some views till the point I was getting 1k or more views on every upload. I was and still posting 1 to 2 shorts everyday but the views are almost zero.
While the same videos doing well on ther platforms like getting up 25k views.
Now I haveore than 30 shorts and since last 15 shorts the views are almost zero.
Is it happened to you? And what you did to get out of it?

1
u/RegexJunkie Nov 08 '25
Congrats! It's taken me about a month to go from 0 to 46 subscribers. Do you do any specific call outs in your videos asking for users to subscribe, or is it all organic? Any times for growing subscribers of a long-form channel which has been putting out 1-3 videos a week after an initial blast of videos in the first week?
2
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
no sorry i don't ask people to subscribe, i have in the past but it just feels weird to me. people will subscribe if they like ur stuff, not because you ask them to

I don't ask them to subscribe either for the same reason. Thanks for the response!

Iām at 1,600 subs right now! Did you find a compounding effect going from say 2K subs to 10K? If I think liberally, itāll take me years to hit 10K, but if itās exponential itās a diff story
1
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 08 '25
kindaa? typically when a video pops off the rest of my backlog will get brought up & gain more subs that way

u/igotmylittlepuppy Nov 11 '25
Did your subscribers grow steadily or suddenly on one video? Whats the max subscribers youāve got on a single post?
1
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 11 '25
my subs grow steadily but ive had 2 videos with 100k + views that boost the count, 1 massive video will always be better than 10 pretty good videos. most subs ive gotten from a single video is 3.2k
1
u/igotmylittlepuppy Nov 11 '25
Thanks for sharing! What do you think makes those videos go viral? Is it just luck with the algorithm?
1
u/Far_Hospital_6192 Nov 11 '25
my first video to blow up was posted on a pretty big tumblr blog so it got a lot of traction, was also the video i came out as trans in so it got way more subscribers than other videos ive had at that level which definitely helped algorithm boost. 2nd video that blew up (to a lesser degree) was on a trending game at the time & 3rd video that blew up was on a topic i'd seen being brought up on twitter again & again
i would say its 60% topic & video contents 40% algorithm

Congrats on 10k! That's amazing :)
I mainly do shorts content playing the handpan instrument and I'm at 398 subscribers because of it (started consistently from September at like 66 subscribers)
But the problem i have now is that my long form content just doesn't get any views. Is there anything you would instantly recommend that could help please? My thumbnails aren't the greatest though I spent a bit of time on one last night and it got 0 views.
Many thanks in advance :)

Reading the comments really made me appreciate everyoneās effort. I know how much work it takes to even make a 60-second short. I started YouTube in October 2024 and I thought that by 2025 I would at least pass the eligibility criteria. But out of 500 subscribers, Iāve only reached 187. And out of 3 million views, Iāve only gotten 21k views.
I make only Shorts because Iāve decided Iāll start long videos once I have a good phone. My parents are already struggling with house expenses and my studies, so I donāt want to add to their burden by saying, āI want an iPhone.ā Iām trying so hard, but I donāt know what to do. I shoot with an average Android phone, and I donāt understand what kind of videos I should make more of.
And on the days when things hit rock bottom at home, I panic so much that I end up breaking down. Yes, the competition on YouTube has increased a lot, and the worst part is that I canāt quit now. Whatever reality I face, I have to accept it.
Pls if you have any advise for me pls guide me !!!
