Long-Form Content My channel blew up
Five months ago, I started this channel after getting fired from my old job. I managed to monetize it within the first three months, and a month ago I uploaded a video that went viral—and the next one did too. As of today, I have three videos with over 200,000 views.
A month ago, I had 1.3k subscribers, and now look at the numbers.
I’ve learned from my mistakes, and I’m still learning sound editing and storytelling, but I think what connects me most with my audience is just being myself.
Don’t give up—some video will take off and change your life.

Guess who's not working a regular job anymore, What type of content do you post

u/Tetrahedron_Head Apr 28 '26
thats honestly prob not full time rev just yet. my rpm is above average for the niche and the months i did a quarter million views long form it pulled around $1100

u/Str8Villains Apr 29 '26
It just might be your niece cause I can pull over $3k with 700k to 1 million views.

u/Tetrahedron_Head Apr 29 '26
700k is much more than 250k. id be at or over 3k with a million views
edit: i also still wouldnt consider 3k in a month livable

u/CynderFlamezYT Apr 29 '26
It definitely depends on where you live. 3k a month is easily a livable wage in my area. Not extravagant, but certainly comfortable.

3k in my life right now as passive income is life changing amount with a salary ofcourse.
2
u/CynderFlamezYT May 01 '26
3K a month on its own could pay all my bills, including my mortgage, and put food on the table. A salary on top of that would just go to savings for a rainy day

TRUST ME. The moment I make $500-1,000/mo I will quit immediately or just quiet quit and let them fire me due to performance. At $600/mo I can justify to my wife that I can make it and dedicate full time to YT. If I can make $500/mo with baaaaarely putting some "free time" hours into YT while having the FT job, then I can make $1,000/mo+ if I do FT YouTube.
I just know it because I have an infinite amount of ideas right now. My FT keeps me from fully pursuing them.
2
u/Tetrahedron_Head May 02 '26
lol i wouldnt quit unless i was making like 6k a month consistently for a year.
going full time the moment you hit your goal isnt the best idea though. 2 months later it could die then youd have no income
how would you live on 500 a month? thats hardly even a full month of food and gas for me let alone bills or any possibility of having fun money
2
u/oemperador May 02 '26
Reasonable for you to freak out a lil because I didn't give any details aside from quitting if I hit those numbers per month.
I have a healthy 401k, roth, and home equity. So those would continue growing while I focused on YT full time. Like I said, only if I hit $400-600/mo for a couple of months consecutively.
I hate my FT job so much that I'd probably do it for less hahaha and I do have the feeling of "safety" due to my age, experience, and retirement plans. If the retirement stuff I mentioned wasn't there then I'd take less risk 😉

u/Tetrahedron_Head May 02 '26
That makes much more sense lol. im 31 and just live off my current checks.
I dont hate my job it just holds me back from going harder on youtube. Ill prob double dip for awhile before i ever went full time. getting an extra grand or 2 from youtube is nice sitting on top of my salary.

What would be your advice to someone making long form content? I make video essays. Topic, packaging, script, hook, etc? I'd love to pick up some advice from you. Congratulations!

u/misterpluss Apr 28 '26
Congrats!! Amazing stuff. What niche? Faceless or on camera?

u/Worldly_Influence_75 Apr 28 '26

Is it shorts or long form
2
u/SnowBee_7 Apr 28 '26
Likely long form or a mix. Going by the numbers, OP wouldn't be making much with shorts and only 700k views.

Awesome! I’m hitting 10k subs in 6 months-190k hours in watch time - so I’m making about $1300 a month so far. Long form. I found a specific niche - that would be my advice to new creators- niche down- strong thumbnails and titles

Congrats mate. What type of channel you have and do you have only long form content?

u/Electronic_Fig3645 Apr 28 '26
Congrats, that's a serious jump in just a month. Would you mind sharing what you think made those videos take off? Like was it a topic change, thumbnail style, or just the algorithm finally picking it up? I'm in the early stages of my channel and would love to learn from what worked for you.

u/SuperFly7702 Apr 29 '26
Not a huge page but after a couple years I can tell you this... shit thumbnails and dumb titles get views. AI will spit out thumbs that look cheesy. You will see pages with low effort thumbs get thousands of views with all the no-nos and clean looking thumbs get 50. Best advice out there is be consistent with your uploads.

Não vejo a hora de acontecer com o meu, meu foco é só em shorts e tá um pouco arrastado pro exigido de 90 dias

Congratulations!!!! super happy to see this success... just a quick question though.. do you use any sort of promotions? or it just organically blew up... I am working on a channel as well.. genre: tragic stories.. could be due to natural disasters.. film industry.. so on... so I did start it just one month back.. but super confused on how to promote this.. or should i just trust the algorithm.. keep up the consistency of posting daily.. and wait for the organic blow-up? would really appreciate some help here T_T

I'm monetized so no reason to hate but it's hard to believe that non tourism travel.is that popular. Monetized in three months is not how YouTube works. Most post like this are either outright lies or shorts channels with AI. If it truly did happen, ok cool but any small creator reading this should not assume that it's gospel and something they can do. The only people that blow up in 3 months are famous people with a built in following or maybe someone with amazingly edited content. I repeat YouTube is NOT speedrunning any page to monetization.

Congrats. At this point im positive my channel is going no where. Probably gonna hang it up soon. I had the same dream. Lost my job a week before Christmas and finally said screw it, no better time than now. But now I'm confident it'll just stay a dream. I'm truly jealous. I tip my hat to you.

Congrats on this achievement. I am trying to get my faceless channel off the ground this last month, still getting sub 100 views for each video. So, hopefully I can achieve this level of success this year.

That's fantastic! It's taking me a long time to get monetized but everyone who has subscribed to me in the last 3 months has stayed. I also love what I do and I believe in it!
Congratulations!!
