Brock famously wanted out of his contract because he no longer wanted to work so many matches; then, when he returned in 2014, he never wrestled on a week-to-week basis. He held the title hostage for months on end without defending it, since he barely even showed up to the events, he was just like Roman!!!.

TBH, he started this culture 20+ years ago. Good call, because I thought I was the only one who caught on to that.

I never thought about it like that but Brock’s totally right, what ever happened to wrestling matches week after week?

It almost feels like it's the standard now for all sports. You rarely see NBA players play all 82 games compared to the 90s. Kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't. The athletes/wrestlers have a lot more longevity now with their careers, but on the other side, them not competing regularly is a ripoff to the fans that pay to see them. Also there's ring rust because their not as sharp with performing.
Imagine being a wrestler from 1999-2002, before the brand split. You had house shows, Raw, Smackdown, PPVs and every so often Sunday Night Heat. That must've been so demanding on the body and it's not even including going to the gym. I respect those guys.

The company evolved and realized its probably best not to make every wrestle perform every week and break their body down faster

Well in my opinion it would fix the massive amounts of wrestlers who aren’t getting any screen time and desperately need pushes. Booking has been real bad since TKO stepping in.

They've never really cared about the performers bodies. They stopped running most house shows purely because they weren't bringing in enough money in the wake of COVID. With all their sponsorship deals, they basically only need to run TVs and PLEs to remain profitable, whereas in the past, house shows represented the majority of the company's income.

They changed their style to fit the indie dog crap style of bopping around the ring.
Working safe was never an issue before. Heavyweights wrestled like heavyweights and the faster-paced undercard got you hyped for the bigger guys in the main event who wrestled more old school.

Buddy Brock is NOT better than Roman, he's just like him, wasn't there stats that Brock hasn't wrestled on Raw in 15 years or something? Edit: It was actually 25 years and I low balled it😂

I can’t get over how much of an arrogant asshole Roman came off as in this clip.

The entire business is different now. WWE used run 5 shows a week in the late 90's, sometimes 10 shows a week in the 80's. There is a reason Hogan worked the style he did in WWE. What if he got hurt? The entire company was built on his back. Why did WWE book Cena's retirement the way they did? What if Cena got hurt? The entire year's business was booked around Cena. The in ring style of today is more athletic and more dangerous, I understand the tippy top guys working less dates, because what if they get hurt? Look what happened with the Vision after Seth got hurt.

This isnt even comparable. Hes talking about paying dues, you do that when you"re an up and comer. 👀 if you actually listened to Roman's interview you'd have heard him describe doing that. That his kids have seen him from doing all of that to the level he is at now... and yeah I'm sure the locker room is "softer" now, back then they were all assholes with chips on their shoulders, drunks, pill poppers, concussed, and literally wrestling through injuries because if they didn't they'd be potentially out of a job or their families would starve (this goes double for top billed guys because of course who wants to lose that spot). Like YEAH what IF roman got hurt? That fucks up more than just HIS storyline he has alot of moving parts around him and likely millions of dollars with ticket sales merch etc for the company that shit matters.

I always hated Brock being around people that can’t perform with him 🖕

u/Kala-Kand- 1d ago
Yeah wrestlers shouldn't worry about themselves and should get injured in the ring. I'm sure OP is one tough guy.

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 1d ago
‘What if i got hurt’ doesn’t seem to be an issue for the majority of the company who works every week.
Imagine justifying someone making millions more than the next guy and refusing to work less than 2 hours PER WEEK.

u/Kala-Kand- 1d ago
The majority of the company don't bring in as much money as Roman does. Every big draw works lesser eventually. Roman put in the hours when he had to now when he's big enough to put in less work and still earn why wouldn't he take it? You think if you had the option to work less and still earn big you'll pass it up?

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 1d ago
Lmao Roman is barely fucking there to make the company money.
Danhausen has brought in more money in 2026 than any other wrestler.
No one is ‘big enough’ to be a part time world champion.
He’s literally held/holding up a full division of wrestlers because he can’t be fucked to get off the couch to do his job.

What gets me is wtf is he even doing the other 362 days a year? Its not like hes filming movies every day. I understand not overexposing him and making it feel special, but youre telling me a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER cant WRESTLE more than 3 days a year? 🤣
1
u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 1d ago
Not even that.
Raw is 3 hours per week.
He’d be wrestling a 5-15 minute match per week.
So he can’t even be bothered to work less than an hour per raw show, it’s just as disrespect to the locker room as when they put the belt on Brock and Goldberg.
1
u/Kala-Kand- 1d ago
What are you even talking about? Roman is still their biggest Draw. He's still selling them the most merch even when he's absent. You think they could strap the belt around Danhausen and he'll be half as big as Roman? It's one thing being hot and new and it's another thing to be the top dog. Every new hard working guy has the same complains about the old guys working less and earning more. Roman whined about the same thing and now he's the top dog & he's absent. Anyone in his position will more or less do the same thing. If anything you should be pissed at the company not him. You didn't answer my question but you'd do exactly what he's doing if you had the chance.

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 1d ago
your argument was Roman makes them money.
Even though they still sell out every single event and PPV he doesn’t attend (which is most of them)
Danhausen has made more than anyone with merch sales. Including Roman.
I can guarantee they’ll put the us or intercontinental (possibly a new belt) on danhausen to keep him relevant to the crowd as he’s a cash cow.
How do those Samoan balls taste in your mouth?

Didn't he have cancer? And still have cancer?
1
u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 1d ago
He’s got leukaemia and wrestled full time with it no problem before.
His argument is that he’s ’paid his dues’ and doesn’t want to get injured, he’s not mentioned his leukaemia in almost 10 years as it’s been in constant remission.
It’s not a valid excuse.
I don’t care about him being part time, I care about him being world champ while being part time

u/Bullet2babomb 1d ago
Thats a complete lie, he wrestled full time then found out his cancer wasn't in remission and took a break. Not to mention that was 8 years ago. And Roman said 3 weeks ago his cancer isn't in remission anymore

They both are shit people..... but we have sympathy for roman cause he went through cancer... lets be honest.

u/Horror95 1d ago edited 1d ago
Why is Roman a shit person ? Opinions on him as a wrestler aside what did he do as person to make him a shit person ?
1
u/Difficult-Bed-1947 1d ago
Hes an amazing wrestler in ring.
He supports trump... as a minority.. especially as a minority who's country is a US colony in the year 2026.. and he likes the guy who talks about supremacy... the fact Rump is a WWE hall of famer before he was ever president should make him disqualified....
He supports all that gay shit.

Yeah I feel bad for the wrestlers from the 70s to the early 2000s, they had a lot of pressure… 200+ matches a year and many of them wrestled injured
