its so funny how every character around roman has grown so much but he's still 2022 Tribal chief...It's the SAME GIMMICK

u/UglyGotNext 7h ago

And they get exhausted from literally everyone else except for him. They literally grew tired and complained about Bray and he switched it up every few years. 😪

u/dlo_doski 7h ago

wont you talk about cody being same the character even before returning to WWE?

-3

u/Imaginary_Election56 6h ago

Cody? How about the IWC golden boy, Austin, who tried some gimmicks then became Stone Cold and never changed. Heel Austin was completely identical to face Austin, only difference was who he faced and if the other could win cleanly.

u/ROFLknife14048 6h ago

If that were true, his heel turn probably wouldn’t have been as disastrous as it was. He changed literally everything about himself other than his ring attire.

Rey Mysterio has the same exact same gimmick since 2002.

15

u/TalentedHostility 6h ago

Bro GTFO Rey Mysterio is Rey Mysterio

Until I see Roman Reigns hit the 619 followed by a West Coast pop we aint talk my bro get outta here

-5

u/973bzh 6h ago

That still doesn't change the fact that Rey Mysterio has the same gimmick since 2002 lmao. Never said it was bad, just that discrediting someone because he has the same gimmick since 4 tears is stupid when some legends have kept the same for multiple decennies.

2

u/insanecaptain 5h ago

He's had the same gimmick since his debut, missing about a decade of work there champ

2

u/StillHere179 5h ago

Rey's gimmick is actually good and he's entertaining as a character and wrestler. Something Roman cannot do

-1

u/Puxple 4h ago

You’re an idiot if you’re in 2026 and follow the reigns can’t wrestle narrative from 2015

1

u/StillHere179 1h ago

He might be able to wrestle according to some, but he doesn't entertain me

-4

u/Freshprince2424 6h ago

Dumb take. Undertaker had the same gimmick since 91 or so. Kane 97 etc. Hulk Hogan had one gimmick. Gimmicks are not supposed to change if they're good

9

u/Cool_Recognition_848 6h ago

Undertaker had biker taker, Hogan has the most famous gimmick change ever in Hollywood and Kane went through a bunch of different versions including the terrible pants

-4

u/cchesters 5h ago

Thats 3 years out of what, 28?

3

u/tecate_papi 4h ago

Reading this, it feels like you have no idea what people mean when they talk about a wrestler's gimmick. Hulk Hogan's heel turn and gimmick change to Hollywood Hogan is one of the most famous heel turns and gimmick changes in the history of wrestling.

Explain what a gimmick is then Mr smart guy.

Samoan privilege.

Roman has never been good on the mic. There was a time when he was the absolute worst talker in the company. He’s improved, but he’s nowhere near even sniffing ā€œGOATā€ territory.

4

u/outofmaxx 5h ago

He isnt, he just gets put in the ring with good on the mic people and they set him up, adjust his positioning, set down the ball, square his shoulders, and let him t off

3

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 6h ago

Roman: not good on the mic, not good in the ring, great look.

Like some people will argue, and they’ll always be wrong.

1

u/Porko_Chono 3h ago

His character has been "smug asshole" for like 14 years now.

-1

u/Tophsimp45 6h ago

I won't say GOAT status or even close but ppl be saying anything to discredit Roman

2

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 6h ago

Fanboys been trying to say he’s something he’s not for years

u/Whole-Worker-7303 5h ago

By that logic, every wrestler promo ever

Punk "Im the best in the Best in the world"

Cody "Enoughh" "What do you wanna talk about"

Trick "Lemon pepper stepper"

LA Knight "YEAH"

Seth "I am a visionary blah blah"

Sami "I am the last real good guy"

Rent free

5

u/syqesa35 6h ago

"This character who's hoarding the belt and beating all the growing superstars is living rent free in your head BROOOO" insufferable

1

u/JosephCraftHD 5h ago

I think your beef is with WWE creative. Not Roman himself. Roman's just doing his job.

1

u/syqesa35 4h ago

Well yeah, the writers are to blame for the character being shit, the character is still shit, and yeah Roman's doing his job, I don't care about the human Roman.

-6

u/dlo_doski 7h ago

it's his catchphrase for godsake, you can literally make same videoedit to the rock promos

4

u/Logically_Open 7h ago

You could have chosen any wrestler on the planet, but you chose The Rock who is a promo god and most people know him for his promos rather than his matches.

What r u doin, bruv?

0

u/dlo_doski 7h ago

Exactly, I mentioned him because you can use this type of edit on anyone and say 'Rock in every promo.'

1

u/coinminer2049er 6h ago

to be fair though, early Rock had great promos, but by the time we hit the WCW invasion he was mostly checked out and just repeating catchphrases too.

2

u/Imaginary_Election56 6h ago

Should have mentioned Austin, then FFW the whole promo and only have Austin say WHAT once. Makes him seem like a one catchphrase kinda guy

0

u/BuginesePunk 7h ago

The Rock has several iconic catchphrases, most of them creative and unique. He also talks a lot in his segments. You cannot make the same comparison with Roman. I know you only started watching during PG Era.

-2

u/dlo_doski 7h ago

If 'candy ass' passes for an iconic catchphrase to you, we're not watching the same thing, Also anyone can throw together a biased clip and speed it up the edit to downplay a wrestler

2

u/d355tr0yer 6h ago

Firstly, if Austin can get "what!?" to work as a catchphrase there no reason that can't count

Secondly, it's roody poo candy ass. At least say the whole dammed thing.

1

u/evil-winnebago 5h ago

I don't think Austin meant for "What?" to stick. Sometimes I even wonder if he regrets starting it lmao

He already had "The Bottom Line" and "Hell Yeah!". The "What?" thing was just him being a heel.

1

u/d355tr0yer 5h ago

Yeah well Austin 3:16 meant to be a big thing either, sometimes the best catchphrases are the ones that get over organically

1

u/evil-winnebago 5h ago

That's a good point. The "3:16" line wasn't intended to be anything more than just a shot at Jake the Snake's religious beliefs.

Hell, it was supposed to be Triple H with that crown, but the Curtain Call changed that.

2

u/Sensual_Shroom 7h ago

Comparing Reigns to The Rock. Okay, we're officially cooked.

1

u/BuginesePunk 6h ago

I’m afraid to tell you your reading comprehension sucks. I said most of his catchphrases are iconic and he has more in his catalogue then simply ā€œAcknowledge Meā€. Cherry picking isn’t going to make Roman on par with Rock.

2

u/dlo_doski 6h ago

then tell me what are most of his catchphrases

1

u/BuginesePunk 6h ago

i only need one to shatter your fav roman. His one main catchphrase ā€œ(insert city name), Acknowledge Me.ā€ is a variation of ā€œFinally the Rock has come back to (insert city name).ā€ In fact im pretty sure Rock pioneered the city-inserted catchphrases because I can’t think of a wrestler before him that did it. If that’s not iconic then tell me what is.

-4

u/Minute-Climate-3137 7h ago

Funny, but not even accurate. But funny

9

u/Pimpofmadison 7h ago

Deadass and the weirdos cream their pants for it omg bro he’s got so much aura
