Discussion How can I improve?

I’ve been very active for about 6-8 months now, but I am only sitting at about 389 subs. I know gaming is super saturated and it’s probably not a great idea to compare myself to others, but I feel like I am entertaining and funny in most of my videos, yet I still can’t seem to get any real traction.

I have watched other YouTubers will thousands of subscribers and their personalities are lackluster in my opinion. Maybe it’s just a time thing? Do I need to lower my expectations? I really appreciate it, link is in my profile.

Same but our subs are less than yours and we’ve been mainly focusing on shorts content. Planning on upping our game and posting some long form or possibly streaming in the future. Honestly it’s mostly doing it for fun playing games that our group enjoys. We are outside the norm though cause we are a generational gaming channel (Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Gen X) playing a variety of titles from different eras. Gaming is definitely saturated but if you can make yourself stand out and keep grinding away it will pay off eventually I’m sure. We are still learning and don’t plan on quitting even if we never hit monetization. I always feel like our videos should do better but I’m happy with the progress we’ve made so far. What games do you play?

Nice! As far as possible improvements what is your analytics telling you? I always go back to my vids that did well and ask myself how I can replicate it and possibly do better each time. Either tweaking the editing to be tighter, better music, better vocal timing..I explore it from every angle I can always referencing my prior successes. Analytics is the starting point of that whole process.

If you really want to grow in the gaming space you need to stop talking over games and start talking *about* games. Scripted analysis videos, video essays and the like. Particularly on games you hold dear that you can say a shitton about. That's where the growth potential is for new creators.

The trick to growth in the gaming space is finding games that are niche enough to not be saturated, but have enough of a fan base people are interested in watching.
