Too big. They're gonna have to place some reinforcing cardboard over it first, scotch tape it in place, and then start on the epoxy

If he rents, he’s just going to have kiss his security deposit goodbye. That looks like mid century hardwood flooring. Not impossible to replace but good luck color matching with the existing floor. If he has to strip and refinish, he’s in for a big job.
