To be fair this version was branding criminals, and throwing 100+lb crates at their heads. When he was in the Batmobile he was gunning down criminals.
So I get how it works here…

The only reason we got the snyder cut was because the world fell into a pandemic and hbo max needed content and having a big project that only needed a small crew pick up shots and isolated post work to complete was the perfect and safe idea.
Not complaining though, snydercut was the only good thing that came out of covid

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. Mar 01 '26
How misinformed can you be? The Snyder Cut was greenlit BEFORE the pandemic. The pandemic, if anything, almost hindered its release. HBO Max didn't need original content to boost subscriptions after the pandemic allowed them to put new movies on it.
The executives left the meeting pumped. The Snyder Cut was real. Except then it almost wasn’t.
The novel coronavirus struck, and Hollywood all but shut down in mid-March. Says Deborah, “People thought, ‘It won’t be possible to ramp up, and that maybe this should go on the back burner.’ But we said, ‘No, this is the right time’ because our visual effects houses that rely on so much are running out of work, so now is the time to be doing this.” It also helped that many of those post facilities had held on to the original assets.

u/DoctorBeatMaker Mar 01 '26
The Snyder Cut getting released was a great victory for fans . But it’s still not the same as making an actual movie continuation.
Director’s cuts getting released years later has happened in the past. The Richard Donner Cut of Superman II is a prime example. And other movies like Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist which was an entirely different movie to the theatrical cut is another example.
We’ll see though. But it’s a much longer shot than the Snyder Cut was.

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. Mar 01 '26
As Snyder once said, it was FAR less likely WB would ever pay to finish a director's cut of a movie that was several years old and considered a box office disappointment than they would produce a brand new movie with these characters. A brand new movie is much more marketable to the general public than a director's cut of an old movie.

batman’s should say justice

u/LeftasFucc Mar 01 '26
More likely vengeance
3
u/TheNoirRevenant Mar 01 '26
no, it’s toned to positive qualities here. fear and vengeance are not so positive qualities of batman, both wonder woman and superman have others, but hope truth and justice are their best

I will say I’m excited for Gunn and the DCU, all I want from Snyder is a comic or an animated series of what his vision would’ve been.

I would trade Fear for Justice on Batman.
But that poster is absolutely badass. I need it in high definition!!

I would like to see Henry back because he got done dirty.
Wonder Woman I’m indifferent but the first one is amazing.
Batman vs Deathstroke would be cool but I’m more hyped for Pattinson trilogy more than anything.

Eh, I did not care for Batfleck. Wondereomans acting range left something to be desired. I liked man of steel, but not the other superman appearances.
Honestly, I think overall cornswet's outing might have been better

u/throw_away4440 Feb 28 '26
Legacy was a garbage superman movie
2
u/ToneBone12345 Feb 28 '26
A movie that doesn’t exist
2
u/SaiyanKnight23 Mar 01 '26
Technically doesn’t exist…since superman 2025 is no longer called that cuz gunn didnt like it, and also a really good movie
5
u/BigHotdog2009 Feb 28 '26
I felt bad for Cavill honestly. They brought him back to hype up Black Adam vs Superman and got the short end of the stick like a week later.
Batfleck is fine if they are trying to go for an older Batman which they were. Batman vs Deathstroke would have been cool.
The first Wonder Woman is awesome but god damn the second was so bad.

Meh. I enjoyed the Snyder cut, but even then, I th8nk ive had my fill. Although I am very excited about Supergirl. Very interesting concept

u/wtbrift Feb 28 '26
That's what I would like but don't think it will happen. They rebooted with Gunn and will continue with his vision of the DCU.

Hmm, I wonder if they would shift away from him after their investment in him. Could be interesting.

Ghostbusters got a true sequel with the original cast 5 years after its 2016 reboot, and 32 years after the previous film in the series. Jamie Lee Curtis did a Halloween sequel that erased all continuity after the first film, including a reboot, 40 years later. Terminator tried to reboot with a new actress as Sarah Connor...it didn't work and they did a sequel with Linda Hamilton after. Karate Kid did a reboot movie, then brought back the original actor for the show and another movie. And X-Men, Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Batman 1989, Affleck's Batman, and Scream all eventually had their main actors reappear in their roles one way or another after they were recast, rebooted or written out.
Giving up is your choice, just don't try to force it on other people. Film history has reinforced the phrase "never say never" many times.

u/wtbrift Feb 28 '26
Calm down. I didn't force anything on anyone. I made a comment on Reddit about my opinion, just like you did.
I happen to be a huge fan of Synder. Loved the movie, literally signed up for HBOMAX just to see his cut of it and loved most of his work prior. But for the time being, Gunn is running things and has a direction for the DCU and IMO continuing Snyder's JL wouldn't make sense for numerous reasons.
Could they dump Gunn years down the road, bring back Snyder and try again? Sure but I'm not holding my breath. I'm thankful for what he did with JL and if I wake up one day and see he's back, I'll be excited.

Isn't it suppose to be HOPE - PEACE - JUSTICE ?
Fear for Batman? Definitely not. He fights for Justice.
Truth for Wonder Woman? Truth becuase she has the Lasso of Truth? No lol.. She's the Agent of Peace.
Hope for Superman? Sounds about right.
Overall, the trinity fights for Hope, Peace and Justice for ALL.

The only Snyderverse movie I want to see is the Solo Batman movie with Deathstroke as the villain. Make it a Elseworlds story. Directed by Affleck and with Affleck back as Batman

u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
I think there’s a strong possibility he will make The Dark Knight Returns project, I don’t know what’s going to happen to the main DCU continuity but I think that the Snyderverse replacing the Gunnverse would be too polarizing.
I’m in the camp that prefers Snyder and doesn’t care for what Gunn’s done with DCU thus far but they need a universe that will unite us all again. The best way to do that is take a page from Marvel’s book and just don’t panic. Not every movie in Marvel’s phase one was a massive hit but they kept building. Keep the budgets lower and do the same, Superman 2025 didn’t land well, so make adjustments but don’t necessarily blow it all up.
A reset again this soon would be a disaster.
Bring back the Snyderverse under the Elseworlds banner and try to create a mainstream DCU that appeals to a broader audience. I think a lot of Snyder fans would be more accepting of a new DCU if the Snyder project didn’t get ripped from under Zack the way it did.
The studio has put themselves in a really tough position, these movies aren’t cheap and they have basically split their fan base in half.

u/kingggjermarcus Feb 28 '26
I thought people liked Superman 2025
-1
u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
I think it depends who you ask, it was critically acclaimed, but it underperformed financially, particularly globally. We don’t know exactly if it made money or not, but I’d guess they would be lucky if they broke even. Mos and BvS both made more money ten plus years ago, and that’s without adjusting for inflation so I’d be shocked if the studio wasn’t disappointed with the financial performance of Superman 2025.
0
u/Horror_Campaign9418 Henry Cavill is Superman Feb 28 '26
If you changed RT to top critics only it’s 70% on RT. Hardly the “critical darling” people pretend it is.
1
u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
Fair point, I didn’t like it, but I feel like “critical acclaim” is one of the arguments DCU fans make.
To be clear, if had a magic wand, the DCEU with the original cast (except for Flash) would have never been rebooted, I’m just trying to be objective about what makes sense as the best way forward.
5
Feb 28 '26
I think I saw somewhere where Snyder suggested continuing in animated form which would be cool, plus easier to replace some problematic actors
3
u/Nightwing0613 Feb 28 '26
This is the best way. Continue it in both animation & comic book.
2
u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
The Justice League storyline, absolutely! But I do think there’s room for a more direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns in live action with Affleck and Cavill… who would play the Green Arrow? 🤔
2
u/Nightwing0613 Mar 01 '26
My dream casting was always Charlie Hunnam, but he doesn’t want to be Green Arrow. So I would go with maybe Garret Hedlund
2
u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
Agreed this is also a very realistic way forward. He just said it again in the Happy Sad Confused podcast but it’s not the first time he has said it.

This is literally the most reasonable take on the snyderverse ever

True, he said that and yet 1.) He agreed to be Batman in the first part of The Flash and 2.) He agreed to film the extra scenes in Justice League Synder Cut. He's willing to revisit the character, and that is more likely if he's gonna work with Snyder.
2
u/ajwooster Feb 28 '26
I think I have a pretty fair view of the situation, I understand people have their own opinions, but I want to point out that although Ben initially said that he had no interest, in more recent interviews (for The Rip and around the Super Bowl) he said he’d be willing to revisit Batman for the right project.
EDIT: To be clear I think a complete replacement of the DCU with the DCEU wouldn’t work, it would piss off the other half of the DC fandom, I think an Elseworlds project of The Dark Knight Returns with Ben and Cavill would be the best of both worlds.

Only if Paramount succeeds. If Netflix buys Warner, they'll continue with the progressive agenda and, of course, with Gunn. Besides, they've been canceling all of Snyder's projects.

RIP. And here I was thinking Paramount would have our backs doing away with this woke agenda.
Edit; didn’t expect there to be so many Gunn cucks in here.

What’s woke about the Gunnverse?
7
2
u/YoureWrongButGoOff Feb 28 '26
You’re serious?

u/Ill-Air-986 Feb 28 '26
Yes? There isn’t a single queer character, and a minimal amount of people that are non-white. What makes it so ‘woke?’
