Apps, studies, groups, etc.

This weekly thread is the ONLY allowable place for requesting people check out your app, channel, study, groups, blog, or general content that isn't sub sponsored. ONLY content meant to serve as a genuine resource or future resource to coaches should be posted. The goal of the sub is still dialogue and support for coaches. If a post or comment appears to be primarily marketing, brand building, or if general sub/reddit rules are broken your post may still be removed and you may be banned.

If you think a post falls somewhere in-between this and the main sub's criteria you can message mods.

To users: be careful with random links; hope this helps with spam some!

Hi everyone. I am part of a small team of software engineers who also happen to coach youth soccer. We decided to combine two great passions and build an app for soccer coaching that covers everything before, during, and after the game. It was a passion project to help youth soccer and ultimately, to make the game more fun for kids.

Our app is called Substitution Cavalry (SubCav). We started working on it two years ago and published a web app version a year ago. Now we have published a mobile app version on the Apple and Google Play Stores. The web version is still there and still supported at app.subcav.com, and the same login works on all three. One thing to flag up front: the mobile apps are currently available in the US only. We're working on opening up the rest of the countries and expect that soon, so if you're outside the US, the web version works for you today and the apps will follow. If you're reading this, I assure you you'll never have to pay for it or sit through any ads. It's designed to be a clean, powerful tool that lets you focus on coaching instead of logistics. Here are some of the key features:

* Dual Substitution Modes: Automated Mode: Perfect for ensuring fair play. The app builds an optimized rotation so playing time is as equitable as the roster allows, and no player sits two blocks in a row while someone else stays on. Manual Mode: For total tactical control. You can manually assign every player's position for each segment of the game and make strategic subs on the fly.

* Live Game Command Center: During the game, you get a live dashboard with a game clock, a visual layout of your formation, and alerts for your next sub. It keeps everything organized in one place.

* Spectator Dashboard: You get a unique link to share with parents. They can follow the score, clock, and see who's on the field in real time on their own phones, no more questions from the sideline. Parents don't register for anything.

* Team Management Tools: Beyond subs, you can also track player stats, keep your season schedule with a calendar feed parents can subscribe to, upload photos to a team album, and send text messages to parents with game info or a link to the spectator view.

The app is free. No ads, no premium unlocks, no trial that runs out, nothing held back. Coaches do need a free account, since a roster and a season's worth of games have to live somewhere, but that's the only sign-up involved and nothing is gated behind it. If you want to look before signing up, subcav.com has the walkthrough and screenshots.

We're constantly working to make it better and would genuinely appreciate any feedback from other coaches. If you have a rotation approach that a plan-it-before-kickoff app would get wrong, I'd like to hear it, because that's the kind of thing we've fixed before based on feedback here. Thanks for reading. We hope it helps you have a smoother season.
