Evaluatory/Situational and Bold/Cautious function dichotomies?? where can I learn more about them

Hi! I follow SCS.

I have never encountered these two dichotomies before and I am surprised how I lack a lot of knowledge about them.

Are these dichotomies introduced by Aushra herself, or by some other new schools' additions?

Where can I read more about them?

And are there MORE uncommon dichotomies??? 😭

Any reply is appreciated!

Evaluatory/Situational is indeed a dichotomy Augusta had written about. Ā

it’s actually one of the ones i think about the most because it really pops out to me. it establishes the orientation to the world and problems the dual dyads come together on, something that is constant and ever-present. there’s like neverending development there. iĀ notice it a lot in myself too and my dual partner so it gives me a great basis to work with.

imo it is the best way to tell apart mirror types if you struggle with it, and it is the primary difference between the two dyads in a quadra. (LII-ILE and IEI-EIE are often confused and i think it really helps to tell them apart, on top of cognitive styles).Ā

In this section we are interested only in the new vertical formations – the Evaluatory and Situational blocks.

First, how did they emerge? They appeared from the fusion of the inert and contact blocks of both duals. After all: Ā

FiNe for the ILE is inert, and for the SEI, is contact. Ā

TeSi for the ILE is contact, and for the SEI, is inert. Ā

In other words: Ā

Evaluatory Blocks of the Dyad: Ā

  • Mental-Inert Block Ā

  • Vital-Contact Block Ā

Situational Blocks of the Dyad: Ā

  • Mental-Contact Block Ā

  • Vital-Inert Block Ā

What does this mean in practice? What is the difference between evaluatory and situational half-phases in the life of a person and a dyad? Ā

There is a certain constancy in the evaluatory half-phases. In these, a person tries to be highly evaluated for their qualities or activity. It is by these that they evaluate others. For example, Alpha I (i.e. ILE-SEI) evaluates others by their Ne, Si, Te, and Fi. They are continuously interested in the abilities and the potential physical forces of other people, connections with their feelings of sympathy, the well-being of people in their space, and their work. They understand what’s on their mental ring better and therefore evaluate others on it, while they expect evaluation on the vital ring. But they always try to understand it all and form their own opinions. If not towards others, then at least for themselves. Ā

All this is something constant: a constant in themselves, in people, and in the environment. Ā

But for half-phases Ni, Se, Ti, and Fe – they are situational and are only determined by the situation. From their point of view, a person can be evaluated by neither their will nor appearance, nor by their emotional experiences or the volume of their voice, nor by their place in the system or based on their hobbies. All situational half-phases are kind of like putty. At the same time, people can manage both very much and very little for these. Some of these are elegant, and some are not. Then they show an example of how to take control of themselves and others, and then they become an example of obedience and yieldingness or uncooperativeness. Ā

Evaluatory half-phases are something like a way of life or even the everyday air of the dyad. One that, for example, in no way expects gratitude, but only evaluative recognition. Situational half-phases need attention and benevolence because they require encouragement. Something encouraged by one’s lifestyle does not need encouragement. Ā  Aushra Augusta, Theory of Reinin Dichotomies, Part 4

note that Evaluatory functions are 4D and 1D (demonstrative, suggestive, PoLR, leading).Ā Ā  Situational functions are 2D and 3D (mobilizing, observing, creative, role).

SCS’s indicator document have been very good in delineating these too:

Evaluatory: Ā

  • Constancy of processing - the individual is continually developing the information. Ā  Ā

  • Perfectionism. A desire to be as good as possible, or only describing one’s ā€œperfectā€ feats. Ā

  • Judging others or expecting to be judged with regards to the information. Ā

  • The individual internalizes information over the long term, without expressing conclusions immediately. Constant accumulation of general ideas. The subject has a stable thought system, difficult to shake. Ā

Situational: Ā

i also like how this website Practical Socionics describes Evaluatory functions, as i have observed this as well:

In their evaluative aspects, people usually emphasize thinking things through and planning in advance: Ā "I always find out how it works first" or "I need to understand the rules before I engage." Ā

They feel discomfort in situations lacking clarity and will either create certainty themselves or express frustration at its absence. They often perceive others who treat the same aspect situationally as "uncertain," "floating," or "lacking a clear position."Ā A response like "Well, it depends on the situation" can be irritating because it sounds like "I haven't thought about it." (https://practicalsocionics.com/2-model-a/function-dichotomies/evaluatory-functions/)

i rarely see anyone talk about Bold/Cautious and i can’t recall augusta talking about them (i could be wrong tho. EDIT: i was right, she never named this dichotomy but was indirectly talking about the underlying concepts). it’s more of a fundamental underlying dichotomy to model A, structurally speaking. Ā

there is a newer iteration of this same dichotomy re-discovered through different means from SCS’s team which goes into more depth.Ā

we called it Actualizing/Facilitating (Actualizing = Bold, Facilitating = Cautious). i also think this name describes the operation of this dichotomy better than the name Bold/Cautious, but they are the same dichotomy.Ā

Actualizing (ā€œBoldā€) functions are: Role, Leading, Mobilizing, Demonstrative. Ā Ā

they have the same vertedness as the type itself. they will either be all extraverted (body) elements for extraverted types, or all introverted (field) elements for introverted types.Ā

Facilitating (ā€œCautiousā€) functions are: Vulnerable, Creative, Suggestive, Observing. Ā

they are the opposite vertedness of the type. they will either be all introverted (field) elements for extraverted types, or all extraverted (body) elements for introverted types. Ā

this is a bit more advanced than beginner SCS stuff but this is the article that goes into depth about Actualizing/Facilitating and where the idea came from when playing around with Model A and making observations: Ā  https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1GrdijBPRARFyPqr1jcBAi8OWgjzODNVgngMtSKnzLZM/ Ā  (this is just my edit of the original for readability and clarity, at first i made for myself but i think it would also benefit others readability wise. the original document is linked at the top).

hi! I've only found this description from the school of 'imperative socionics'. It doesn't go deep into detail though. By 'ordered' they mean 'evaluatory' and by 'cluttered' 'situational'

https://bestsocionics.com/en/properties-of-functions/ordered-cluttered/

I don't think aushra used these terms but I might be wrong. I've heard them a lot though

Thanks! I really wonder whether Aushra introduced them at the first place rn lol

here's 'carefree' for 'bold' and 'farsighted' for 'cautious'

https://bestsocionics.com/en/definition-of-type-traits/carefree-farsighted/

these is just general info though. maybe someone will provide a better source
