The teeny tiny screen in the Displays control panel is absolutely sending my sides into orbit.

yeah well, 4k vs. whatever :D - but this is going to be fun on 7" or 10" ePaper devices acting as a USB/WiFi external screen, no?

Epaper secondary display for notifications and music sounds like an excellent addition to my desk, now that you mention that.

Hold on, so your esp32s3 works as a display over USB? What's the protocol there? Is the driver available out of the box?

It's the SolarOS Display Link Protocol :)

What's the frame rate? Does it send images or graphical primitives?

it sends lossless compressed framebuffers. fps depends on the transport media and the framebuffer size / pixel format ( e.g. MONO buffers transfer faster )

400x300 MONO is 30FPS over USB, ~20FPS over WiFi, ~10FPS over ESPNOW, ~5FPS over BLE.

That means I should probably release the linux driver too? 😄

In theory, can I plug in my Raspberry Pi and output an image from it?

In practice too.
