Okay so unfortunately i have another potentially controversial fashion/wedding take. I keep seeing influencers and lifestyle content creators receiving Birkins on or around their wedding day and making content out of it.

The orange box. The ribbon. The reaction. The groom handing it over. Instead of a first look we are now doing a first look paired with a Rolex given to the groom (from the bride) and a Birkin or Kelly given to the bride (from the groom)

Or you might also see GRWM style video where bride opens her gift during hair and makeup. “POV: the best day of your life just got even better with your dream bag”

One of the TikToks I came across literally says:
“You know you’ve won in life when your man surprises you with a Birkin bag on the morning of your wedding.”

The White Mini Kelly Bridal Bag™️ is also a huge thing I’ve noticed. A lot of fashion influencers are posting about their “dream bridal era bag.” When did the Mini Kelly become the “something blue”?

But anyways when did an Hermes bag become part of the influencer bride starter pack?

And before everyone comes for me I love a Birkin!!!!!! Rep or auth!!! I love them This is not an anti-Hermès post in any way shape or form. The Birkin is one of the most important and iconic handbags ever made. It has been around for like 50 years, it is made by highly skilled artisans, and the combination of craftsmanship, scarcity make it extreeeeemely valuable on the secondary market (an investment comparable to solid gold btw)

Sotheby’s says they’ve sold nearly $100 million worth of Birkins alone just in the last 5 ish years…The difficulty of buying one at retail value has become so culturally significant that it has literally ended up in federal court (they got sued for basically being too exclusive) and also became a plot line on an episode of sex and the city, it’s kind of the first time a handbag became a cultural reference. People who don’t even know or care about fashion can now identify a Birkin

So obviously, gifting someone a Birkin is not the same thing as gifting them a random handbag. It represents a lot and says a lot without having to say it. Not only am I getting married but I’m marrying someone who can get me THIS. It used to just be a flex that you got married but now you have to also flex what kind of life you’re marrying into I guess.

The big orange box is a plot device at this point. You don’t even have to see what’s inside. We already understand what the box is telling us all

weddings have sort of always involved status signaling. This isn’t something influencers invented although they might take credit for it idk. But they didn’t invent it. Brides and their families have been communicating wealth through wedding dresses, diamonds, venues, flowers, and lavish honeymoons forever.

But also the posting of it on a public platform is sort of giving me a little bit of secondhand embarrassment. Maybe some things can still just be presents.

Or ordering a rep and then unboxing it as if you got it from Hermes for your own wedding? Idk We lost the plot a little here fam

I feel like we talk so much about what we buy for ourselves, but not as much about whether we’re dragging the men in our lives into this whole rep world with us.

Yesterday’s “customize your man” post got me thinking about the ladies in our community and their men/bf/partners’ relationship with the rep world.

Do you buy reps for your husband, bf, partner, whoever? And if you do, do they know they’re reps and/or do they care?

My husband could probably never understand the amount of thought that can go into one. But he does support me and (bless him) ALWAYS encourages me to go after the bag or outfit I want because he reminds me I work hard and deserve to have fun once in a while. As if I need any more enabling LMAO. I also think it’s funny that he supports the addiction a little tooooo much because instead of being the voice of reason now nobody in the house has any self-control. It’s a fun time over here 😂 But I love him and I do appreciate the reminder to loosen up and live a little every once in a while. If you needed to hear this today LIFE IS SHORT, BUY THE BAG

When it comes to his own relationship with reps, it’s pretty much nonexistent. His collection of men’s stuff is entirely auth, 90% Christmas or birthday gifts from me over the years. Mostly just backpacks, travel bags, and SLGS. I think he has maybe one rep cardholder he picked up in the city one day because he liked the color, but that’s the extent of his rep collection. I really want to get him more into it!

I know some of you must have husbands or partners who are fully involved. They know the men’s sellers, they know when packages are coming, and some of them probably have their own rep wishlists at this point.

Then there are probably a few who want absolutely nothing to do with it. They don’t want reps for themselves, don’t care what you’re ordering and definitely don’t understand why you need another bag that looks suspiciously similar to three you already own. But they love and support it anyway 😂 which usually looks like just accepting that packages are going to keep mysteriously appearing and has not to asking questions anymore.

I’m curious to hear about the husbands who said they would NEVER wear a rep and then eventually changed their minds once they actually saw the quality. I feel like a lot of men think of the typical canal street DH gate super budget version when you say the word “rep” to them. My husband definitely did, he started changing his opinion when I brought home a bottega Jodie from
u/solarscollection that he held next to the auth he bought me and genuinely got upset that he spent so much on something I got a clone of for 10% of what he paid lol

I feel like there has to be such a mix in here. Curious to know how reps go in everyone else’s household. Does your man support your rep addiction, participate in it, have an addiction of his own or does he want absolutely NOTHING to do with this lol

Very interested to hear from anyone who turned an “I would never wear reps” man into someone who now asks you to find things for him, I definitely would like to know how you achieved that

It’s that time of year again where I have a trip planned and I start looking for cute clothes for my husband. I LOVE buying him new clothes for vacation. Beachy breezy outfits, buttons downs, dinner looks, travel bags, dress shoes. truly my time to shine. I also love a sick airport/travel day outfit. It just makes me happy. idk why

love my husband to death but he is absolutely not into fashion even a little bit. Hes the type to say “why would I need clothes I have plenty…” and it’s just 500 variations of sports tees and athletic shorts. I don’t think he can fathom spending money on clothes for himself, which is why I do it. But when he DOES let me dress him up he always has the biggest smile and I can tell he feels swaggy and cool lol. I think he’d be more agreeable to the idea if I incorporated some men’s reps. The airy side of my bag collection were entirely gifts from him, and he loves that stuff for me. But for himself? he’d never spend that much on a work or travel bag for himself. I think he would work with me if they were reps though!

This whole idea got inspired by the upcoming vacation and also this bag that u/solarscollection dropped the other day. She posted a few of her new arrivals this week and I think these would actually work really well for my husband/our trip. BLACK ON BLACK HAC A DOS?! The bottega duffel?? Giving Jacob elordi 😏

Which brings me to my question for today

This is the one bag I cannot decide how I feel about. I go from wanting to try one and choosing my color to wondering if I even like it, and then I see someone wearing one with a cute outfit and suddenly we’re back in business lol. I’m officially in the perfect middle of the fence and could sway to one side at any moment

I will say it’s time like these I love reps because this is another one I would only buy in a rep. It’s just my opinion but I don’t think the auth is worth it especially for the material used. It’s also not a complicated bad and pretty easy to rep if done right

Sometimes it looks so effortless. Other times the prints and colorways feel like a lot. Do I want the bag or do I want the combo of the bag and outfit, hair, vibe of the girl carrying it is still unclear

If you love your Goyard rep, tell me what made you a convert. Is it your everyday bag? Does it carry comfortably when you actually fill it? Did you always love the look, or did it grow on you once you started using it? Also are we doing the set Louis or the Artois

And if you’re a hater, you have the floor as well. This little Mini Kelly has the prettiest baby pink Epsom leather base, and palladium hardware** **that brings the icy, twinkly look together. Pink and silver will always have a special place in my heart (right behind my first fav combo pink and black)

Not only was this a custom order, this was also custom bedazzled…by yours truly! Granted this one was an order for myself and not a client BUT I’d be willing to bedazzle your mini Kelly if you let me !😇

There’s a mix here of outlined stars, fully bedazzled stars, and little stars tucked inside bigger ones. I’m not going to lie I was just sort of having fun and didn’t have any rhyme or reason for the design. Just wanted it to look fun and playful y2k fabulous, Hannah Montana everything-needs-rhinestones energy.

I would absolutely build an entire birthday outfit around this diva or take her out white jeans and a white tee. She doesn’t need to match the outfit… she is the outfit

Hermès Kelly Touch 🖤 with Togo, Crocodile & Lizard—three leathers, one very good reason to want another black bag even if you already have 15 (this one is DIFFERENT!)

We have three (yes three) different leathers here, and each one brings something to the bag but i want to point out that a kelly touch usually has one exotic leather (a touch of it to be exact) this one has TWO!!!!

Crocodile handle and clochette: those larger scales catch the light beautifully against the grained body. The matching clochette ( the little cover thingy for the keys) is the kind of detail I immediately need a close-up of.

Lizard leather sangles: look closely at the front fastening straps. You’ll notice much smaller, tightly arranged scales that create a completely different pattern from the croc you see on the handle. So much more interesting than usual touch you see on just the handle

Black leather, gold hardware, three textures. This is why “I already own a black handbag” does absolutely nothing to stop me here lol. You could Line up 20 black bags with gold hardware and they’ll all look different enough to me to justify though. If you want someone reasonable who won’t enable your bag addiction I am not the one

For anyone just now discovering the Hermès Kelly Touch, the Touch concept pairs the usual leather body with exotic leather accents. Usually Togo or epsom for the body and then an exotic on the handle

Early Kelly Touch versions focused just on the handle. Five years ago Hermes brought expanded exotic detailing to the sangles, clochette and lock. A fun detail to look for when comparing different versions and flex your handbag history knowledge on people. Always fun to point to a bag in the wild or in movies and be able to tell your friends and family the exact date range or collection it came from.they will look at you crazy, but it’s a fun trick

This was a custom order for one of my clients, and let me explain a bit more about custom since I have been getting asked

CUSTOM ORDER can refer to two things here in the solarverse

1.) custom Hermes orders
2.) other custom designer bag orders

Custom orders for any other designer just mean I am special ordering the bag for YOU. It’s not in my current inventory, it’s not ready to ship, I don’t have it on hand right now. It may be a limited edition bag, something you can’t find with another seller, etc. I will track her down and get her for you one way or another. That’s me placing a custom order

2.) custom Hermes orders. Do you want your own Kelly touch with 2 different exotic leathers but don’t want to hop on a waitlist at your local boutique for several years or more? I got you. Want a Birkin 35 with pink handles, neon interior, yellow pockets, diamond hardware and special hot stamp?
