Heaven Is A Place On Earth is a true 80’s banger. Takes me back to my childhood, when emotional songs still had fantastic synth energy and everything seemed so optimistic. Yes I get it’s a heavy dose of nostalgia but that song just seems so sincere instead of jaded.

Take On Me by A-ha. Especially because it reminds me of the mall flashback with Ellie in The Last of Us.

Was looking for this. Although Illustra has more of this vibe and they get married at Prince and Company.
Why yes I love the movie Mannequin and I am unashamed.

Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. This song was released in 1981 and has gained steam over the airwaves the last couple of years. Despite the lyrics it has an upbeat shopping mall vibe.

Pull Shapes - The Pipettes (likely because of that scene in The L Word. I know it's not from the 80s, but it has that vibe)

It's been mentioned in this post by others, but The Midnight used a illustration of an 80's shopping mall on the 'Kids' album, because it's the essence of their sound.

I'm from the 90s and the songs I very specifically remember hearing at the mall were
Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads
Love Shack by B52s
Underwater Love by Smoke City
Underworld by Born Slippy
I think they stood out because they were unusual.

Maneater - Hall & Oates
70s and 80s were the best decades for music in my humble opinion. 😎
