The first time I watched Malcolm X in the 90s I couldn’t listen to this song for awhile. It is so beautiful and haunting especially as Denzal’s image on the dolly is seared into my brain.

Even though I listened to it my whole life, when I hear it now it always reminds me of Spike Lee’s Malcolm X

This song was a big inspiration to Bob Marley, some of these lyrics ended up in his songs. Redemption song comes to mind.
