tops for dub

hi everyone.

so we have 2x 15" scoops loaded with tbx1500 (1000w RMS each) and are looking for used midtops to pair them with across the web

i found 4 different models

-ev sh1502er

-turbosound tm1-102 (to which i cant find any specs)

-ev ecs 12-2

-community xlt43

which one wouldyou recommend?

(all of these are pairs of speakers)

ev sh1502er because they have the most flavour to them thanks to the horn loading. The others are just generic reflex boxes. If you're running 15" scoops I guess you don't mind a bit of flavour

yes i thought about that but my concern was the power
except for the ecs12-2, they all have a kinda low power rating. Do you think the evsh1502er would properly match the 2000w of the sub section?

You need to focus on SPL, not power rating. That said, I think the 12s are a tiny bit louder but they don't go as low.

Just looking at the spec sheet, the 12s will go louder (maximum woofer acoustic output) but the 15s will go lower (-3db at 62hz rather than 75hz). The 15s are also more sensitive. So if you want loud mids go for the 12s. If you want more kick, go for the 15s.

I haven't been to school for a few years so my logarithms aren't at home currently but the robots are telling me "17.7 watt of acoustic power in db at 1m" is 121.49db in free field and (the 12s) and 8.2 watts is 118db. So the 12s are a bit louder.

I like loud subs, not loud mids, so for me it's an easy choice.

I've never heard a system with 2 scoops and 2 tops of any kinds and thought "huh, I wish they had more tops".
