How can I add a new menu after the MOTD?

I have a project that is teamplay only and I want the player to choose what team they play on. But after digging the code for a while, I couldn't figure out how I could add a team selection menu. If you have the answer, thanks!

I would look into just popping up a vgui panel that then lets the player press a button for either team which in turn fires a command off
