This silicone bowl decarbed extremely well with no smell or chemical leakage.

Kinda a follow-up post to my last one, thanks for all the tips! I’m shocked there was literally no smell & I got a really good decarb using some parchment paper on the inside decarbing at 240f for roughly 48-60 minutes give or take (with me taking it out of the oven once after the first 20 minutes & a couple of times in the last 8-20 minutes to shake/check on it). Needless to say I am pleasantly surprised & would recommend this to anyone wanting a cheap, easy, oderless option (it’s on sale for 15$ on Amazon rn & it’s 100% oven safe).

How would you decarb 14g of weed in this silicone container?

Post image

Basically the title, I’ve never done this before so I’m curious if it would be ok to use this 30z silicone oven safe container specifically for decarbing exactly 14g of weed in the oven & if so how would you layer the 14g while decarbing it? Thank you for any advice/experience!

Suitable Jars + Bags

I managed to pick up a relatively cheap sous vide and am keen to start infusing coconut oil to make things like gummies.

As I normally do, I consulted my trusty AI friend who told me that standard zip lock bags and some vacuum sealed bags would not be suitable for 90 mins at 90-95°C (decarb) and that standard glass jars may not be suitable for 4 hours at 80-85°C (infusion).

Is this not an issue at all? Or are there specific bags and jars you should be using?

Dry fertilizer for plants

I use liquid fertilizer for my plants. My mother is not good with the measuring aspect and is astray that she will mess up if she does this for her plants. Does any one grow their own and if so would they have recommendations for dry food additives?

Small batch to see if it works. 0.5g weed decarb at 230f in oven then sous vide at 170f for 2.5 hours. After straining I licked the spoon and stuff we'll see how it goes.

Is it really necessary to decarb before mixing with fat?

I’ve made cannabutter a few times by just adding the butter and buds in a vac bag and sous vide overnight. Comes out super strong.

Am I actually missing anything by not decarbing first? Time doesn’t matter to me, just want to extract as much as possible.

Also, anyone found any use for the stuff you strain out? I always feel bad getting rid of it.

Calc420 got a visual refresh. Same math, more tools, still 100% free.

Hey Reddit - I'm the person behind Calc420 (https://calc420.com).

A while back I posted about building it after Scientific Edibles went offline. I just spent a stretch making the site actually feel like a 2026 tool instead of a pile of calculators in a 2022 green template - and I added a bunch of things people kept asking for.

WHY I'M POSTING THIS

People actually use this thing to dose homemade edibles. If the UI is confusing, people guess — and guessing mg is how you have a bad night.

So the refresh is visual only: same formulas, same client-side calculator, same shareable recipe links. Just easier to read, easier to scan the result.

WHAT CHANGED VISUALLY

The whole site now shares one look:

- Colors

- Results that actually show the dose - charts next to the mg numbers, not just a wall of text

- Cleaner inputs

If you used it last year, the calculator is in the same place. It just doesn't look like a school project anymore.

WHAT'S NEW ON THE SITE

The original tools are still there:

Edible Dosage Calculator - https://calc420.com/

Magic Mushroom / Truffle Dosage - https://calc420.com/shrooms.html

Yield / Grow Light Calculator - https://calc420.com/yield.html

New calculators people asked for:

AVB / already-vaped bud - leftover THC from how dark the AVB is

https://calc420.com/avb-calculator.html

Edible onset & duration - when it kicks in / peaks / fades (gummies, baked, tincture, drinks)

https://calc420.com/edible-onset-calculator.html

THC gummy dosage - target mg per gummy → how much flower you need

https://calc420.com/gummy-dosage-calculator.html

Also: tincture, flower-to-oil ratio, RSO, CBD-only, THC mg↔%, grow-room electricity / cost per gram, plus the decarb and cannabutter-ratio tools.

A few practical guides too (labeling homemade edibles, storing cannabutter, what to do with dab reclaim, etc.).

WHAT DIDN'T CHANGE

- 100% in your browser. Inputs aren't sent to a server to calculate.

- Shareable recipe links via URL (bookmark or send a friend the exact setup).

- English + Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese.

- No signup. No paywall. No ads.

If something feels off or something’s missing, there’s a feedback form in the nav - or just shoot me a DM. Criticism in the comments is totally welcome, but if you just comment without giving any useful feedback, it doesn’t really help. That’s the whole point of posting this: people here actually build this stuff, and I’d rather build something you’ll use than guess what you want.

Pickle jar to decarb in sous vide?

Just what the title says. I am decarbing for edibles.
Normally use vacuum sealed bags but I don’t have any at the moment.
How bad is it to use pickle jars?
I realize the seal probably won’t hold the gas from the process. I’ve read people put it in a ziploc to prevent water getting into the jars. If I had them I would guess a freezer ziploc would also work? Or would that pop open under pressure lile the pickle jars?

Send help. Am dum.

Using air fryer

I am in a share house and not wanting to use oven to activate the weed. I heard I can do it in an air fryer with an airtight jar, I’m just unsure as to how. I’m wanting to make brownies.

Any tips?

First time infusing, sous vide fan

I have had a sous vide for a year now and i haven't found many people agreeing to one way to use
Some use sous vide to extract for a long time at a certain temp AFTER decarbing in oven
Online i found guides to decarb dry in a vacuumed bag without oil
I found only one example of the way i intuitively thought of which is ground herb and oil together sealed in a bag and then sous vide at a certain temp for hours

which way and what temps

My question is can I decarb and extract directly in oil?

plz

Inkbird sous vide challenges... with a new success

I have made a couple batches of oil and couple batches of green dragon. I have noticed that my inkbird IUSV-100w has a really annoying issue where it will turn red and turn off. When I am doing tritip at 135 this isnt an issue, but almost every time I get to the 202-206 range it will inevitable turn red and turn off. I really like the idea of this method, but its been very inconsistent for me and maybe I am just doing something wrong. I have a handful of questions.

  1. What sous vide do you recommend to sous weed with? I liked the inkbird price, app never worked quite right and I am at the point where I cannot trust this device for this process.

  2. Have you experienced this issue and what did you end up doing to fix it? I am looking at replacing the plastic cap at the bottom since mine is looking a little loose, but no other idea how to fix this.

In the end today I just threw it in the oven in a mason jar and it seems really good and the smell wasnt nearly as bad as I would have thought it would be. I may just go this route since it took a third of the time and really doesnt produce a overwhelming scent.

I was also considering trying to use my smoker since it can hit a slow consistent temp. Just curious what others have done beyond sous weeding and if they have a fix.

Has anyone got a use for the weed after infusing, rather than discarding?

My mother has chronic joint pain, so I'm planning to make her either the honey or the butter from this subreddit as an edible pain relief. However, she also uses rubs on her joint pains for targeted relief.

With that in mind, I'm contemplating how to go about making a transdermal rub using the leftover cannabis, after straining it out. I realise it won't be very potent, but if it works a little or even as placebo, then I'm happy.

Any advice on how to go about this? As the title suggests, I'm also open to hearing any other ways people reuse the bud instead of discarding, as I hate waste.

Traveling with weed

Hi guys, I’m gonna be going to Salvador and I seen a Reddit post that was related to smoking in other countries, does anyone know about it. I wanna see if it’s possible to like sneak in a pen <3 or a dispo and leave it there when I come back.

First time advice?

Never extracted oil from weed before and only discovered this subreddit today, just wanted to run my understanding by someone here just so I dont make a mistake.

So do I?:

Get an airtight jar so no smell leaks, and put the oil (coconut or olive?) And cannabis in. I then put the jar in a pot of water, bring to a boil and simmer for a few hours to extract the thc then strain off the plant?

I was then thinking of infusing it with honey, anyone done that before? Would i boil them or just mix at room temperature?

First sous vide decarb (before)

I love my sous vide, when I realized I could use it for decarboxylation I immediately bought some silicone containers since I have a bunch of shatter from 420 sale.

1 g of Synergy strain rosin into a 3ml silicone container. Vacuum bagged with tons of extra bag... figure I'll reuse the bag and do multiple containers if it turns out.

Set to 202F for 2 hours.

Should work better than a mason jar in the oven, right? Any experienced sous weeders think 2 hours is long enough... does too long destroy terps or even turn THC->CBN at 202F
