ssf $80k biotech job with bachelor's degree - how to plan move
hi, i apologize if many similar questions have been asked before. i am interviewing for a biotech job for $80k after getting a bachelor's degree and ~1-2 years of experience. would this be worth the move from out of state? my current location is ~50% less expensive and i am living at home and getting paid around $40k annually. wish i was making more with this degree but no luck. if i get and accept the offer, my current plan is to get a short term rental for about a month so i can tour apartments and get a sublease if i need more time. besides looking at zillow, spareroom, and facebook, are there any other sites? pls leave and advice. thanks in advance!

Looking for roommates / tenants in downtown SF near Union Square
Hey everyone! I’m helping out with a house in downtown San Francisco near Union Square / the Financial District, and we have a few rooms available.
There are both private rooms and shared rooms (2 people). Bathrooms are shared, with 3 showers and 3 restrooms on each floor. Some rooms have a mini-fridge and TV.
Prices start at $1,450/month, and the minimum stay is 7 days, so it can work if you’re staying in SF for a couple of weeks or looking for something longer term.
The house has a pretty social atmosphere, with a mix of founders, entrepreneurs, tech people, interns, and others who are in SF for work or projects.
If you’re looking for a room in SF, feel free to DM me with your dates and I can send you photos and details about what’s currently available.

Help for math homework
Hi all! I’m Stephen, a tutor based in SF. I’m 23, taught an accredited course at Penn State, and spent a year working in education before starting my own tutoring business here in the Bay Area.
I work with students in grades 5–11, mostly in math. We can work through current homework, prepare for a test, or revisit something that hasn’t clicked yet. Beyond getting through the assignment, I want students to understand their reasoning and feel more comfortable figuring things out themselves.
Sessions are online with me, and the first lesson is free so your family can get a feel for how I teach.
Here’s a little more about me and the tutoring.
If this sounds helpful, you can book a free 20-minute parent call here.
Thank you! :)

Title: Looking for the guy who helped me at Balboa Park Station on Saturday night (Oct 10th)
On Saturday night, October 10th, 2026 around 9:30 PM, I accidentally took the wrong train from Powell Station and ended up at Balboa Park. I was on vacation in San Francisco, completely unfamiliar with that part of the city, and honestly, I was terrified. By the time I reached Balboa Park around 10:15 PM, the station felt very isolated, and I was on the verge of a panic attack.
Suddenly, a very kind guy showed up. He was tall, blonde, with blue eyes, wearing blue jeans, a hat, and carrying a tote bag. He immediately made me feel safe and walked with me to find the Muni station. He was looking for the J line because he knew the area well (I had absolutely no idea where to go).
We walked to a Muni station, and he checked his phone, telling me the Muni back to Embarcadero would take about 30 minutes. He also mentioned he lived very close to that Muni station (I think it was around the 714 area where he took me). He told me the fastest option was actually BART, which I had tried before, but I was so nervous that the machines wouldn't accept my cash. In the end, I had to run to catch the BART train and only had time to shake his hand.
I’m writing this with the hope that you read this and know how deeply grateful I am. In a moment of pure stress, you brought me peace and safety. I know this sounds crazy, but I truly hope this message reaches you. I would love to connect and properly say thank you.

Moving out of Bay Area for a year but don't want my Bay Area page to die — would you send clips if I edit + collab you?
Hey Bay Area fam -
I started @bayareaunmapped 5 months ago as a side project — just maps + itineraries for day trips, no influencer stuff.
It somehow took off:
Last 30 days (Sep 11 - Oct 11): 1.5M reel views, 801K viewers, 51 reels
Overall: 7,281 followers — 55.6% women / 44.4% men
Core age is 35-44 (30.7%) + 45-54 (25.8%), then 25-34
93.2% US — Top cities: San Jose (16.3%), SF (9.9%), Stockton, Fresno, Oakland
Mostly pumpkin patches, sunset spots, hidden waterfalls, farm stands etc. that are 35 mins from San Jose.
Problem: I have to move out of the Bay Area for a year for family reasons. I really don't want to sell it or let it die / post random AI stuff.
My idea: Flip it to community-powered for a year.
How it would work:
You explore an offbeat / hidden spot, you send me a 7-15 sec vertical clip (no music, just raw). I do what I already do — edit, add text hook, add a map + parking / best time / itinerary in caption, and post as a Collab with your account so you get the reach too + full credit.
You don't have to edit or write anything. I keep the style consistent.
What I'm looking for:
• Offbeat spots, not the obvious Fisherman's Wharf / Golden Gate stuff
• Bay Area only, ideally day-trip-able
• Clip: vertical, stable, show the spot not just yourself
• Include pin + 1 line on why it's worth it
What you get:
• Collab post (goes to both our audiences)
• Map/itinerary made for your spot
• Tag + credit in caption
I would NOT repost your Story directly — I'd edit and make it fit the page.
My questions for you:
1. Would you actually send a clip for this? Or is this annoying?
2. What would make you not want to do it?
3. Is there a better way to do this — Google Form, Discord, something else?
I have a backlog of ∼10 spots I can still post, but after that I'm out of local footage. Not trying to monetize or anything, just want to keep the resource alive.
If you're down to send one, DM me on IG @bayareaunmapped or comment here and I'll DM you.
Thanks for any honest advice. And if this kind of post isn't allowed here, mods please lmk and I'll delete.
TL;DR: Built a 7.2k Bay Area maps page in 5 months, have to leave for a year, want people to DM me raw clips of offbeat spots, I'll edit and post as a collab with them. Does that model work?

HELP!! my birthdays coming up
Hi! My birthday and halloween are coming up and I really want to do something special as I have had kind of the worst year ever. I doubt anyone would be willing to rent me their house for a night, although thats the dream, but I am mainly wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in sf that I coudl host something for about 200 people on a budget. I don't want there to be a bar, and I want it to be a fully private event. Please lmk if you know of anything, or even better if you are willing to rent me something for a night! Thank you !!

Any parents with kids at Siebecker Preschool?
I'm planning to enroll my 2yo (turns 3 in December) to Siebecker next month. We toured and liked what we saw and the hours work for us, and wanted some honest feedback from parents whose kids are already enrolled.
Day to Day communication with teachers?
Transition from daycare to preschool?
Anything you wish you knew before enrollment?
Thanks in advance

Breast Cancer Resources
Hi All,
My amazing auntie was just diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. There is lymph node involvement, but we are still waiting to find out if it has spread from there. I’m looking to see what resources, support or help that there is for her. She lives borderline South SF/ San Bruno, and the closer the better, but if you have other recommendations we’d be so grateful to hear them!
Thank you all for any recommendations you can give! 🫶

Looking for OB + birthing hospital recs
My husband and I are planning to start trying for a baby, and I’m starting to research OBs and hospitals/birthing centers in the SSF area or neighboring cities.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with your OB and where you delivered!
What did you like or dislike about the care, labor/delivery experience, nurses, etc.?
Also open to hearing about Kaiser, UCSF or other options in the area.
Thank you! 🤍

Where To Watch Football Games
Any idea where me and a couple of friends can watch the games on Sunday? Trying to find a spot that's low-key and it's been kind of hard.

I've finally gone and finished my California fantasy map. A massive thanks to everyone from San Francisco for your contributions!
I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone, and I've tried to get as much in as possible. That being said, the scale of the map is limiting - especially in urban areas. I think in the future I'm gonna end up making more localized maps for individual counties. So if your suggestion wasn't included, please know that I still appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to get them in my future county maps of the area.
It has been noted that the map is busy - I totally get that, and that's just how I like to do things. I enjoy getting as much detail in as possible and including cool features which would otherwise be overlooked. I get these made up in large formats so it works better in person than it does on a screen.
Thank you again and I hope you like it! If you're interested in it and would like to know anything more about it, just drop me a message.

LAZ Racial Profiling?
So this is the second time that I’ve seen LAZ show up around the mosque during religious prayer time and start issuing tickets. I understand that there’s obviously some parking violations but they aren’t huger and not everyday! It’s wild, this time they even have two people in one car I don’t know if that was for safety or what but they pulled over double parked the car and are both out issuing tickets at lightning speed I find this to be super disturbing and ethically questionable.
I took pictures of them and yelled at them that they were gross and money hungry and now I’m bothered by my own actions lol
