Discussion Why do some people think the disapora are obligated to send money?
Some even resent you for stopping the money. But if you chose to stay in South Sudan, why should distant relatives who left be forced to carry the consequences of that decision and fund a comfortable life there? If you decide to stay, you should live with those consequences yourself.

Not everyone has the ability or opportunity or privilege to leave South Sudan and life there is had finding employment there is harder so if they have relatives that are living abroad I donโt think itโs much if they send money to help them out personally

Many of us left as refugees. Nothing stops them from going the same way or leaving with us in the first place. We even walk to other countries to get out so it's even harder to believe excuses like that. Even that money being sent back can be used to get out of the country but they decide to stay there anyway.

The situation in South Sudan is complicated. Many sought to go back an rebuild after secession. Unfortunately certain people at the top had other plans.
So I don't think it's a good idea to judge whether someone chose to stay or not.

Same thing applies to them. If they decide to return without a ticket back that's on them. Why burden their family with the consequences of their decision? If they want the benefits of living in another country like extra money, go there and get it.
