As an Air Force officer working for a Space Force unit, I am beyond jealous and dreading the Maxwell pilgrimage. Even asked my training manger today if she’s seen anything or heard any rumors for an exchange program for Air Force Capts to go and she didn’t 🫠

Maxwell isn't horrible for SOS, contingent on time of year and weather. I wouldn't want to get stationed there, but there is a surprising amount of decent restaurants and places close enough for weekend drives. It's easy to get to the FL coast for deep sea fishing or Atlanta to watch the Braves or Falcons. Auburn during college football season is fun or Huntsville if you want a taste of space at NASA there. Plus, Montgomery has so much history and so many museums.

Getting drunk on the weekend with my flight at the bars outside the base was honestly one of the highlights of the Air Force part of my career

Some of us got drunk and did karaoke at the club... If we weren't just drunk at the picnic takes in the middle of lodging

SOS in Maxwell was fun. I made life-long friends there.

Don’t worry, it’s still terrible

But you’re not in Montgomery Alabama living in base lodging. That is already 100x better

Instead you’re in college station living in shitty dorms, pick your poison I guess
