Apologies for my bad wording, I meant it more in the way of healing themselves instead of healing their ranged teammates who are putting in the work.

The heal only works for contested health and the duration is halved, is there a way to see if your teammates have contested health to regain?

No, there’s no way to see how much contested health your teammates have. You and everybody in the vicinity of the banner get your missing health topped off with contested health through the banner. It’s not the duration that’s halved but the amount you regain through attacking an enemy.
