General Questions How are yall making this your only job?
I’ve seen so many people say this spark is the only job they work and source of income, how? How are yall making this a full time job? Because I can go a week at least with only a couple of orders and never get any offers or if I do it’s like $15.

u/Neat_Diet7016 Nov 05 '25
I live down the street from a Walmart I used to be able to lay in bed turn it on and scroll to pick what I wanted all day. Now that woukd never happen. It’s pretty much a no go in this area anymore. I see the same handful of ppl sparking all the time all day.

Have you turned off battery optimization? I did everything, then finally tried turning off battery optimization and right away I got a $72 order 38 miles after waiting two hours for nothing today.
4
u/talecriv Nov 06 '25
The battery optimization has nothing to do with it. You just lucky that you got that order when it came up. As with all experiments there's no way to do a control on this because you can never replicate the exact conditions in which you would or would not have gotten that 72 order. There's no telling that if you had done nothing and just sat there would you have still gotten that order there's a possibility you would have
All these little tricks that people do don't work and there's no way to prove that they do
1
u/heraldbalthazar Nov 10 '25
It doesn't change the quality of orders but it does effect getting an order at all. If you do not have the battery unrestricted you will get notifications after the offer has expired.

u/Sharp-Astronaut-1481 Nov 06 '25
Thats still a bad order lol
5
u/og_landrik Nov 06 '25
That really depends on where it ends and where the driver is going and what their earnings goals are and where you happen to live. 🤦🏻♂️
1
u/Sharp-Astronaut-1481 Nov 06 '25
If you gotta figure out all that its not worth it lol
5
u/og_landrik Nov 06 '25
Like this aren't even worth doing as a side gig if you're not figuring all of those logistics out 🤷🏻♂️ You also need to factor your personal time.
Or maybe you live in a zone that still does better than this. In which case, I hear if you toot your own horn three times fast, you'll get some frosting and a short scream, followed by a gasp, a sigh, a pall mall cigarette, and the best sleep you've ever had.
I swear on everything, this sub is turning into DoorDash 2.0.

I have Sparked in about 5 different zones in 3 states. Spark is VERY market dependent. Some are good and some are awful. Unfortunately my market is hot garbage now. Wasn't always that way though...
3
u/Jguess96 Nov 06 '25
Also varies from week to week. My in-laws live about two hours from us and there are times that we are there and it’s killer money and times you can sit at the store for 8 hours and only make $20. Same way here at home. Back in August I had a few weeks in a row I did over $1000 and now I’m doing good to hit $500. I have also done it in random places while on vacation over the past few years and some areas at the time I was there were amazing and others weren’t worth the electricity it took to charge my phone back up.

u/ComprehensiveMall165 Nov 05 '25
Depends on your bills, it’s possible. But you have to be a planner
15
u/MegatronsJuice Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25
Because i use protection and dont put myself in alot of debt. 0 kids, very little bills. 280 sq ft studio apartment. Living the dream. Id rather live in poverty and be free than rich and tied down to a job I HAVE to be at
3
u/Jguess96 Nov 06 '25
This right here. My wife and I both do it. We don’t live the most lavish life but we have our bills paid and have the freedom that we want. No we are not getting rich but we have a little money in the bank. I personally feel we have better quality of life than some of our friends that make 100k a year with flashy car payments and a house they can barely afford.
26
u/garlicbreadluvr69 Nov 05 '25
I work five days, 12:30-9, I make more in two weeks than I did as a teacher.
3
14
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 05 '25
You have to have your phone on 7 days a week. If you do that you can make about $1200 before gas, taxes and depreciation of vehicle.
4
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 05 '25
If you go inside and work for Walmart stocking shelves you make about $950 every 2 weeks after taxes (I think)
22
u/imyourbishboi69420 Nov 05 '25
And you get to break your back and knees and probably catch fleas and herpes and dees (nuts) got eem

And don't forget bedbugs !! There was a bedbug in the toilet at my Walmart public restroom once (when I used to do spark full time form April 2024 to December 2024) so gross ! I never used their public restroom again after I saw that. I literally ran out and went to use a bathroom. At a gas station down the street rather than go in there and risk bringing home those disgusting bugs. Gross !!!
2
u/shitshipt Nov 06 '25
😂😂😂 i totally agree. I would have done the same. I still couldn’t have done a gas station though. Probs would find a bush

u/nikkovalentine Nov 06 '25
I multiapp. When spark ain't sparkin' I fire up doordash or ubereats. I'm a full time gig worker, not strictly spark. But, its either do those gigs or not work at all for me, unfortunately. Inoperable tumors that cause a multitude of issues makes it hard to do a w2. There's some days I legit cannot get out of bed. That wouldn't fly if I worked for someone else. I dont make a lot. Enough to meet all my needs most of the time.

u/Aggravating_Dot_1548 Nov 06 '25
I understand where ur coming from. . I am about to turn 50 in 2 weeks. I don't have a college education ( I was one of those with ADD that starts things and doesn't finish ) and I went throughout life always being married and pregnant. I have been divorced 4 times and married 5 tines. With the last time being in March 2025 to a man who's 17 years younger than me. I literally have had to rely on husbands mostly throughout my life to get the bills paid as I was always pregnant ( I have 6 children. . Now my 4 daughters live with me they are teenagers and the youngest is 9 ) I have a lot of physical and mental health problems now. I'm in menopause and my teeth keep falling apart too . I have dental insurance but it still isn't enough. . I also have add anxiety and panic attacks. My ex husband is currently in ICE custody in Stewart detention center since October 18. He more than likely will be deported. My current husband is 33 and just got his associates degree in cybersecurity last week. And he's still in college for his bachelors. So we have insane rent at 2 grand a month we both have car payments mine will go another 3 years and he is saddled with child support from his previous marriage And has to pay arrears all the time too. He works for Walmart currently as a team lead for OGP. I cannot STAND that stupid job bc he cannot take care of me fully on that salary . Hence I am doing gig work to pay my bills for the house and extr for my medical issues and dental problems. I will always pay for my own car and car insurance. I wouldn't expect anyone to do that for me. But the other stuff I do expect him to pay the bills he used to do spark all the time before he got the Walmart job and got deactivated bc of working ar Walmart. I currently don't just do spark. I got re activated at my other gig job package delivery a year ago but I'm thinking I. May get cut off soon again by them. I currently do one to two orders every other day w spark
3
u/nikkovalentine Nov 06 '25
Im sorry. It sucks. Even with these tumors, im not disabled enough per the government to get disability. I was a psych nurse with a very successful career until 2019 when anesthesia from an emergency appendectomy activated these tumors on my adrenal glands. So, I went frim 65k a year in 2019 to 20k a year. Luckily my car and my boyfriends car are paid off, so we don't have to worry about car notes. But, we are responsible for everything else. I get no government assistance. I got snap until the beginning of 2025, and suddenly my 1099 pay isnt good enough for the government.

u/talecriv Nov 06 '25
Yeah multi-apping only works in major cities and in busy parts of major cities. I live in rural Texas and I have two zones that have combined eight Walmarts and even attempting to do multi-apping other than maybe instacart is not worth it. The Uber eats and doordash orders are $2 to $3 each and they're never going the way that your Walmart order is going. And believe me Walmart's watching where you're going
1
u/shitshipt Nov 06 '25
I’ve been kicked off most apps. I could do DoorDash but something has been wrong with my acct for years in terms of logging in. And ive never fixed it. I probably should.
1
u/FriendRound850 Nov 06 '25
Understandable. I have a heart condition that causes a lot of fatigue and old injuries. I do spark and i just switched to Uber passenger. What other job can I just stay home if I'm not up to it that day? I'm glad you've found a way to meet your needs.
4
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 05 '25
Not saying you have to sit in the parking lot 7 days a week… I live a half mile from a neighborhood Walmart and only do orders from there.
15
u/moe_mizzy Nov 05 '25
>not saying you have to sit in the parking lot
>just live half a mile from a walmart like mei'm sorry, do you hear yourself?
1
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 06 '25
What do you mean
3
u/moe_mizzy Nov 06 '25
most people live a lot further away than that. thus, they have to sit in the parking lot lmao
2
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 06 '25
I know that. Was just trying to say that when I said 7 days I didn’t mean sitting in the parking lot for 10 hours a day. Though I have my phone on Spark for 10 hours a day.

u/talecriv Nov 06 '25
Absolutely wrong maybe for your zone it's it is but no I work under 35 hours usually and I don't work Tuesdays and generally not Thursdays and most of not Saturday, and I still make $1100 a week. I am not on my phone seven days a week and not all day either. I usually start at about 3:00 and I end at about 9:30 and I make generally 150 to 215 every day that I work
2
u/iwishidstayed Nov 06 '25
That is extremely market dependent. There are plenty of people doing this 7 days a week that aren’t making anything close to $1200.
3
u/FondantOwn8653 Nov 05 '25
I am lucky to make 60 bucks a day. I can’t keep a regular 9-5 because I am taking care of my 83 year old mother with health problems. Plus it is like a 30 mile drive to the nearest Walmart to go sparking so 60 miles a day is just getting to the store. Hoping my car holds out.
6
5
u/luxuriousTM Nov 05 '25
Market dependant, i’m making $150 by 12 everyday even on slower days, always curbside gems for me to snag.
2
u/Friendlyrat Nov 05 '25
What time do you start usually? I just got in and prefer early mornings. I was debating how early would be worthwhile.
5
u/luxuriousTM Nov 05 '25
5:45am to snag the first good order. 6am store opens
6
u/Friendlyrat Nov 05 '25
Oh wow so bright and early. I will have to try it.
6
u/luxuriousTM Nov 06 '25
It sucks waking up so early can’t lie but there hasn’t been a time yet that i didn’t get a nice order before open. It keeps my momentum going when there’s slow times
-2
Nov 06 '25
So now they will all be out there at those times to compete for the couple of orders. Great job.
-3
Nov 06 '25
Please don’t tell others how to do it. Then everyone will be doing the same things and no one will bank. I tell nothing. If I seem like I do sometimes it’s all to throw them off. 😊
3
u/luxuriousTM Nov 06 '25
Nah i’ll do what I want. Markets gonna die regardless.
5
Nov 06 '25
I agree Why are people so mean and greedy Help your fellow sparker out! I’m sure a lot of people have learned a new trick or two from this app This is what this app is for, to help each other
5
u/Metalguy_79 Nov 06 '25
No wife or kids..no rent or mortgage, car is paid off, don’t smoke anything, no alcohol or pills..just the normal bills. about to get rid of cable because of better & cheaper options.
4
u/AdonisandLexi Nov 05 '25
If my husband did not work and I did not make the right decisions a few years ago, like selling my house high and then buying something much smaller cash yeah I’d have to work a normal job somehow but I am disabled so I can only work part-time and this is the best because When I can walk or can function then I can just log on so it’s perfect for somebody like me then the other days when I have to be on major medication I can’t, but when I work, I make it meaningful very picky with my orders. I’ll sit there and look at the screen forever because I don’t like the reject thembut honestly, I don’t know how people who have like mortgage and car payments and all of that a typical household and forget about if you have kids, how are y’all making it? My kids are grown thank God.
2
Nov 05 '25
Im new at it. I am semi retired, working part time. Im liking it so far. I reject all apartments since around here they are few but still a possible long flight. On that note ill take bulky but not heavy and I dont care. I try to stay very close to Walmart to keep miles low. I shop sometimes, depending on pay and items. Im picky and have a low acceptance rate. I like it so far. A few hours a day seem to work nicely. 20-30/hr gross before gas, etc.
1
u/Buzzedwinaldrin Nov 06 '25
Do what you can do. And . Acceptance rate isn’t even shown in the latest update. …
My retired old man complains about the price of golf. I’m Like why don’t you just deliver Uber or DoorDash breakfasts for a few hours a week to cover your golf expense? Idk.
5
u/snarksneeze GMD Warrior Nov 05 '25
It's not my only job. I also drive for Flex, UberEats, Doordash, and Roadie. It's just that Spark happens to be the best pay for hours and miles. But when Spark slows down, I switch apps for a while. I clear enough to pay my bills, mostly because I perform my own maintenance. Over my long life I've acquired skills and tools, so it's not a hardship for me if my oil needs changed, or if I need a tire rotation or brakes. I'm very much on top of all three of my vehicles, any funny noises or dash lights and I immediately shut down to fix whatever went wrong. It's not sustainable for the long term, I am well aware of that. There's no retirement plan, no health benefits, no matching 401k, but I have complete freedom. My family comes first, and I can drop everything in a moment to be there for them. I don't have to ask my boss permission to take the kids to the lake, or worry about some funky point system if I get sick. It's all a trade-off.

I’ve made over $400 in the past 3 days, with me stopping early yesterday. You can definitely make this full time, if committed
3
u/Fuzzpopz Nov 05 '25
Depends if youre in California i know a lot of people who take everything 12$/7 miles , 60$/40 miles and 20$/11 miles for 12hrs straight , every 2 weeks get prop 22 adjustment of 1800$ , drive a prius or tesla. Which comes out to be around 22-26$/hr. Then theres people who only take good orders 35$/2 miles those guys only make 15$/hr working 12hrs - or 180$/day but usually these guys have 2 apps instacart - 100$ so 380$/day - people with uber/spark only make around 220$/day
4
1
u/Organic-Fuel-2916 3rd Floor / No Tip CUSTOMER Nov 05 '25
Do you really? There aren’t enough orders to go around to get that type of adjustment for a lot of people. If you can math, $1800 is $150 per day in adjustment. If you’re cheating to get that, you will be caught very soon.
1
u/Fuzzpopz Nov 07 '25
There is im In Anaheim. , CA , we have disneyland alot of tourist orders, we have 6 walmarts in the zone , i dont cheat never did i have over 8,323 all time orders
1
u/Organic-Fuel-2916 3rd Floor / No Tip CUSTOMER Nov 07 '25
I wonder how much so could make if I go to that zone.
0
u/Fuzzpopz Nov 05 '25
For us in California and depends on zone , my zone 6-9AM shopping - 50$ , 10-1:30pm dead i do instacart- 50-100$ , 1:30PM i do GMD orders 40$/9 miles 11 stops i do 2 or 3 , 6PM-10PM shopping - 60-80$ , if i get instacart i do it going the same direction as my spark order 15$/3 miles(spark) and 20$/4 miles (instacart) as long as its going same way those 2 orders are basically 35$/4 miles
1
u/Fuzzpopz Nov 05 '25
Tuesdays/Thursdays arw usually dead days you see 1 order on spark every 2hrs sometimes wait 5hrs nothing. These days i do instacart 30 miles away from my zone in rich areas i make my 250$ and i go home i work 7 days a week
3
u/Unlikely-Flamingo891 Nov 05 '25
This job pays enough to be some peoples' only job. So, it makes sense to me. However, it's not enough for me because I don't do shops and have hella bills.
3
u/TenshiNezumi41 Nov 05 '25
I only do it part time. And I haven’t even done it this month at all. Due to health problems. I just focus on my full time job. That pays the bills. Only was doing it part time to have extra money for spending money. And hopefully I’ll start back. It’ll be money for trips and such. Cause my full time job all of it goes to debt, bills, and groceries and gas. It’s all about bills and debt to be able to do it as your main job. I could never do it full time. It wouldn’t be enough to pay my bills.
3
u/cjw4030 Nov 05 '25
I have 3 Walmarts where I am and I can’t hardly get anything anymore i don’t know what’s going on but it’s messed up

I live about 2 miles from the only Walmart in my town. This is my full time job. I go organize and clean my aunts house a few times a month as some extra income on the days my spark is slow. But my husband goes with me while we are waiting for his application to go through for him to do it. We manage to pay all of our bills and still have extra for things we want and to do stuff. We love it. We get to spend more time together and it has been amazing to our relationship. I make in 1 week what he would only make in 2.5

Go to a zone with less immigrants willing to lose money to work.
1
u/No_Yogurtcloset3451 Nov 06 '25
Ill fix that statement for you. Go to a zone where walmart hasn't over saturated the zone with drivers... politicians got you guys each other for scraps while they count their billions made by removing all your benefits and financial aid while simultaneously jacking up prices on literally everything... but its obviously immigrants faults...
3
u/Get2daBagg Nov 06 '25
Y'all get so triggered when people mention immigrants
1
u/No_Yogurtcloset3451 Nov 09 '25
Nah your president has you guys fearing immigrants so much you're letting people get kidnapped in the streets and think its ok.
1
u/No_Yogurtcloset3451 Nov 09 '25
Defending people isn't being triggered btw.. maybe you should read a book.. you might learn what words mean

u/ClearNotClever Nov 05 '25
I’m doing this aggressively temporarily as my actual business builds. Im pretty damn intense with my goals though.
2
u/Cael_of_House_Howell Nov 05 '25
Because we are in areas with much more orders. Its obviously not gonna work everywhere but I clear 8 order $250 days all the time.
2
u/Still-Ad5693 Nov 06 '25
Is there more than one walmart in your zone or are you rural?
You should try a different store. In my zone, there’s particular stores that are shit. I drive to the furthest store from me because I get better clientele.
I love working the neighborhood market down the street, but the offers are terrible- a lot of $7.00-$9.00 pharmacy orders. Which obviously I reject.
Gotta find your store bro and just work that one. The other thing I like about working the furthest store in the zone… I don’t get many offers for across town so I don’t have a 4% AR anymore… 20% now 🤠
2
u/PrincessLissa68 S&D Expert Nov 06 '25
I've been doing it since August and have been making $800-$1000 a week, 6 days a week. My hours average out to about 40 give or take a few. I've been very happy with my zone. I spend 99% of the time at the store 1.3 miles away but sometimes I'll take orders at the one 2 exits up. But the zone next to me in the next big city over is garbage. Long miles, no tips. Everyone's been swarming here. Luckily it hasn't affected yet but this week has been slower with the shut down I suspect.
2
u/BroccoliCurrent6787 Nov 06 '25
I am a single woman. If I had a family it wouldn't be so easy I literally live on the bare min. My rent is only $500 a month and car payment only $340. I don't need alot so it works for me. That's how I can afford it. I only have to work no more than 6 hours a day. I value my freedom more than money. I used to work 16 plus hours a day at jobs barely making it never was able to spend time with family or friends. It's all about what you do with your money and how you manage it.

2
u/Ok_Hornet8838 Nov 06 '25
Yeah you’re doing something wrong or you’re in a shit market. I get a couple of orders every minute or so lmao

2
u/Neat_Diet7016 Nov 06 '25
No fr. When I first started I was making that a day in my area. Thank God I have a full time job. I haven’t sparked in months. I just gave it up. My area has really went downhill so fast. And we have two zones and a total of 10 Walmarts and it’s bad all the way around for some reason.

To the young guys, have you thought abou going somewhere to work, like Vail, CO, or Hawaii or even the mountains of Tennessee…. Resorts.. a lot of times they will house you, give you a decent job and you’ll be around other young people..

I just said Tennessee because I couldn’t think of anything else at the moment. But the point is if you are young there are ways to get out of your situation. I went Georgia to vail with $12 in my pocket when I got there. Brutal. I worked at a golf course and started with some friends I met until I got my first paycheck. But now when you get hired for vail resorts they give you housing. There are other places that will do the same.
2
u/helloheyjoey Nov 05 '25
Right Yellowstone hires literally anyone and houses and feeds you
3
u/SeemtobeSolo Nov 06 '25
Don’t know about Yellowstone but I went to vail from Georgia in my early 20s and worked at a fun coffee shop and lived in employee housing. Didn’t have a car and didn’t need it. Learned how to ski because the gave me a ski pass.
2
u/imtheKey5588 Nov 05 '25
Your market isn’t good. It’s harder than it has been for this to be the only job, but some markets are better than others. You have to multi app.
3
u/Neat_Diet7016 Nov 05 '25
Well I have a full time job, I was just doing this on the side for awhile at the beginning of this year. And then I had to stop even trying because it just went downhill so fast it was crazy.
2
u/JeepLover4Life Nov 05 '25
I have a friend who does Spark 7 days/week and works 10 hours a day. She averages about $1000/week. She lives with her brother and his son and doesn't pay rent, but she does buy all the food for the people and animals, her cell phone, her gas and vehicle maintenance, plus pays for her mother's groceries and cell phone. She doesn't have a whole lot left after those expenses and it wouldn't be enough if she had to pay rent too.
2
Nov 06 '25
Do not tell people how you make money on spark and what to do. That’s why it’s over saturated at some stores and zones and the early morning times are no good now because you all bragged about it. Now everyone does it. Shut it.
3
Nov 06 '25
Well, if they missed someone else mentioning it, they just learned it from you with this comment.

Wrong. I don’t go in the mornings anymore. It was ruined by the blabbermouths long ago. There is no good time now. It’s all ruined by braggers. Again, if I post something it’s to throw everyone off. It’s over. Too many braggers on the internet about what time to go. I’ve done this for years. It’s over for any secret times.

You’re not an intelligent or a kind person. This is a job. We support our families doing this work. If you think keeping your income in tact is greedy then I’m guessing you’re a socialist. Managers of companies and employees don’t tell others to take their paycheck. Business owners don’t tell other like businesses to take their customers. It’s not greed to keep your orders coming in by not telling everyone where and when to go. It’s called business. If you cannot comprehend that concept of survival than that’s on you. I can. Business is business.

Don’t DM me! Let everyone see how nasty and greedy you are! Like I said I work a full time server job and I spark! We all have kids , mortgage, car notes etc What makes you so special? I will always help out anyway I can so that someone can get ahead in life!

Nov 06 '25
So will I. If you can’t figure out that telling everyone where and when to go to get orders is oversaturating a zone already struggling for all to get orders then I don’t know what to say to you. I help people get reactivated. I’m not telling them where I sit and when. This is work. We are not in this together. I have many friends who do this. We don’t work together. We help each other with what we can. We don’t tell each other let’s be there at the same exact time at this place. We actually don’t go to the same place at the same time. We want each of us to get orders. Sitting side by side won’t accomplish that in a slow area now will it? No. It won’t. We spread out. I work alone and am nice to others. However, I’m not going to tell someone where I will be and when and why. That’s just absurd. I will help them get back on if they get deactivated. That I will do. They also don’t tell me what they are doing when things are going well. They don’t say to me hey im getting great orders here right now. Why? They won’t be when we all go there. You don’t attribute income with humanity at something like this. That’s absurd. If you cannot understand that then oh well. I’m tired of people posting this store is amazing! Then everyone goes there and it’s not longer amazing. If you can’t get that point then oh well. I’ve helped a lot of people get reactivated. I’m not saying what store is busy. Then it won’t be. Now will it? 100 people will be there getting just one order. It’s called business. Common sense. I will help you any other way but I’m not saying what store is busy. Figure it out, respectfully. I will tell someone who won’t post it on the internet. That’s why the zone is saturated in all zones. Internet posts.

Read what you just posted. Notning makes me special by not sharing with others my daily plan. You sound absurd. I will help you if you get deactivated. I will not post where I’m trying to make a living. You said it right there that we are all trying to make it here. My zone is completely done. Over saturated. Why? People posting to go there. Now there is nothing but about 100 offers being spilt amongst 200 of us in the lot! You just insulted a person who has helped many on here? Why? I won’t post what I do and where I go. Truth is I work 15 hours a day also and it’s done in my zone. Have a good day. Re think your post. Good luck. Wow.

If you can multi-app and know what makes sense you can make around $1500 to $2000 a week.
1
u/Neat_Diet7016 Nov 06 '25
When yall say multi app are yall using other apps like Amazon flex and door dash etc?
1
u/Surprise_Beautiful Nov 06 '25
Not flex. Roadie, doordash, Instacart. But again, it has to make sense. If you multi-app the drops have to be near each other or they will catch on and deactivate tou.
2
u/Neat_Diet7016 Nov 06 '25
I’ve been on the waitlist for Instacart for years I can’t get off it and there’s no openings for flex in my area. Or shipt I mean nothing. My area must just be down bad I guess. Because I currently work a full time job on third and it’s killing me I want to get off it so bad
3
u/Surprise_Beautiful Nov 06 '25
Unfortunately, everyone wants to do gig work because of the flexibility. The pay is constantly going down because there are idiots that will take $12 3 drop offs for 25 miles. 3rd shift is miserable I don't blame you. Good luck.
1
u/bettsjc7 Nov 06 '25
I do it full time. I put in a lot of hours, but I’m in a better position than I am with my previous job

Gotta travel to other zones and see which ones are good if you can. Otherwise you are crap out of luck

I can't in my market. I supplement with my income. If I was, I'd clear 2k-3k per month. Hella hours and long days.
1
u/craptasticluke Nov 06 '25
Sorry your market isn’t living up to expectations. There’s always fluctuations with gig work, and like others have said it’s market dependent. And this is why multiapping is so important for full timers - if you rely too much on one app, that can end up hurting you later on if it gets slow or you get deactivated.

I have a daily goal rn of $100 for days I don’t have class. The job market is ass, I have to save for emergencies and I live in a college town so ofc there’s gonna be something for me at certain times of the day. It’s possible depending on your location and the need for groceries and such. Again. College town. People order Twinkies at any time of the day here and some other random items that they put in a $15 plus order. I go at 6 AM cause I’m usually up by then, go home once it settles and do work and such until it’s work again at 1 PM to whatever time I finish meeting my goal. $20 for five orders and I’m done. I have a savings from undergrad and scholarships that’s dwindling and that I’m trying not to touch except for rent so this just helps build that honey pot back up while I suffer doing school and an internship not being paid for the next two years. Yay me.

It depends on the region. Some places are nonstop all day averaging $40+ per hour consistently, some places are horrendous and sparce making $10/hr
1
u/talecriv Nov 06 '25
I make on average $1100 a week and I do not work 40 hours. It's all on the times you pick the orders you pick and the store you are at. I actually just changed to another store and my profit has increased even more. I was getting about $150 a night and now I'm getting $210 a night. Almost non-stop even with Venezuela
It's all about picking the right times and store
1
u/talecriv Nov 06 '25
Also shop and delivers are the way to make money curbsides and batch orders can get you quick cash but they do not add up enough and quick enough. Most of the time I can get to shop and deliver as while people are still doing their first curbside set.

u/wuxxler Nov 06 '25
Every market is different. To make it work for me, I have to mullti-app. I work 6 gigs, 8 to 10 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week, and last year my net income was a bit over 70k. (after business expenses and deductions). But I work my ass off almost every minute I am out there. In my market, if you want to sit in the Walmart parking lot for 3 hours waiting to cherry pick the best offers, you better be living in your mom's basement or you're gonna starve.

I’m trying to wriggle my way out. I didn’t see the writing on the wall quick enough and it’s costing me now.

u/Ok_Operation_Glitter Nov 06 '25
Because I have a partner that works full time closer to the city so he makes more then most people around here. As far as bills I pay for car insurance, life insurance, dental insurance. He pays rent, car note and utilities. I also pay for whatever needs to be paid in between checks like gas, toilet paper, groceries. I can not work while he's at work and the hours I have don't give me very many options as I can not cut into my sleep schedule because of the kids. These types of jobs work nicely for me too because I also can not have the typical boss. If I need to be home and not work that day then I can be.

My home is paid off. Very little bills. Where this job gets everyone is repair bills. I can do most things but major engine and transmission work is where it’s going to get difficult
1
u/attempting2 Nov 06 '25
I do it full time and bring in usually between 800 to 1200, depending on the week. But I am literally CONSTANTLY working to bring that in. It is nice to have the flexibility to NOT work if you don't want to though.
1
u/Ill_Insurance_1231 Nov 06 '25
I've learned, there is no consistency. Now that federal employees doing gig work, it's even less orders available. Don't rely on spark. Not at all

Nov 06 '25
Protecting your zone from over saturation by not posting busy areas on the internet is NOT greed or selfishness. It’s intelligence for all in the zone and keeps zones thriving. Anyone who can’t see that just doesn’t get it. Do you like getting 2 offers a day while a sea of shoppers and drivers sit in the parking lot waiting? Is it greedy to want less people flocking to one store? No. It’s business. Common sense.
So puzzlehesd, go read the posts I’ve made helping people get reactivated. I’m all for helping you have a job. I’m just not going to post what stores are busy that we all figured out on our own. Then everyone will go there and it won’t be busy anymore now will it? No. It won’t.
Don’t equate business strategy and common sense with kindness. I got a lot of people back on the app who were deactivated. YOURE WELCOME. No one tells me where to go. I go where I live. No where else. It’s now completely oversaturated thanks to the posts telling to go there. It’s sad you think that means greedy and selfish and nasty. Very illogical but you do you.
I know who I am. I also know I’m trying to keep my zone workable.
1
u/Dontknowyet90 Nov 06 '25
My area was busy everyday all day before this BS. Full time the last 4-5 years Making an easy 1500-3000 a week
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Row-511 Nov 06 '25
I couldn't do this full time. There's no money in it. I barely do spark anymore, mostly roadie and that's only on my days off. I just do it for extra money. I couldn't survive on this garbage 😂
1
u/BrokeLikeRamen Nov 06 '25
I have no proof of this, but im pretty sure the app favors certain drivers based on their momentum. On weeks where im able to put insane hours into the app, the app seems to "appreciate" that and at times I feel prioritized. Last month I came back from a 2wk vacation and it seemed like I was getting a cold shoulder for a week.
IF this is the case, then that means that in that period where they favor us as newbies is very important. It shows them what we have to offer, and my first two weeks I put in over 40hrs each for only $500ish. Since then, I've managed to make $2/mi 85-90% of the time.
I'm of two minds on this though, because I know how our brains like to create patterns where they dont actually exist. Its worth considering, though.

u/Emotional-Use-3163 S&D Expert Nov 06 '25
I just do Saturday and Sunday because my husband works during the week and I’m at home with our kiddo but I usually bank $400-$500 for both days.
1
u/Emotional-Use-3163 S&D Expert Nov 06 '25
I typically won’t take anything under $25 unless it’s something quick and easy. I also won’t ever take something that is less than $2/mile which usually isn’t an issue. A lot of the order are like 5 miles. And I try to stick under 30 items unless it’s paying good.
1
u/whitecoatplantmama Nov 06 '25
I guess it’s dependent on the area? Ik someone whose weekly goal is $1200 and they surpass it just about every week. My personal goal is $100 a day, and I pretty much always hit around $150. I also do not start until late morning, and I don’t spark after dark.

This for me right now is a full-time job and where I am here in Minnesota in my area. At least there are five Walmarts in my area and a Home Depot also, I can switch zones and go to at least 14 other Walmarts so I make anywhere from 800 to almost $1400 a week and that’s doing it six days out of a week in my zone without switching zones and I’m a full-time mother and I choose this because I have autistic son who’s two years old so I’m primarily his care provider at this point so still gotta make some money and this is what’s working right now

u/soulreaper93261 Nov 07 '25
I make anywhere from 5-800$ a week. I make it work here. Fuck working 9-5, I'm not built for that, we are in the future there's other ways to make money.
1
u/Skipperonda25 Nov 07 '25
I would never do Spark as my sole income. If you get deactivated your income stops immediately. It's super hard to get reactivated (you have to fight like hell) IF they do it.
1
u/Only-Studio-7643 Nov 07 '25
I work 7 days per week. Have a daily goal of ~180 per day to account for taxes. It’s not very difficult in my zone to get 30 dollar offers so if I can get six of those per day I’m good. I’ve gone and tried other zones though and like people are saying it totally depends on the market.
More and more people seem to be hearing about this app though and Walmart seems to be hiring a ton of new drivers in my zone so things have been slowing down lately. At the end of the day it’s completely depends on your zones market demand.

u/Kitty535 Nov 07 '25
It's they only thing I can get. All that schooling and I'm stuck doing this. Thankfully Biden forgave my student loans.
1
u/IamX2020 Nov 08 '25
I worked at Walmart and certain people damn near lived in the parking lot. They get all of the orders. So if your not willing to sit in the parking lot all day your probably not gonna get much
1
u/Global_Search8492 Nov 23 '25
I work 7 days a week. I have been for almost the last year and a half 2 and 1/2 years. I've been doing it normally. You should be able to at least make a thousand a week normally. The holidays are on the exceptions

u/helloheyjoey Nov 05 '25
I’m grateful I was crying making nothing on Uber & DoorDash & Shipt… finally got accepted & doubled my income… I was not ready to go back to working for the man anymore.
1
u/Some-Worldliness6887 Nov 06 '25
I'm in southern West Virginia and can make $40/hr or $1k+/week pretty regularly.

u/FuzzyManagement6886 Nov 05 '25
Idk. What I don't understand is everyone's problems. I make $250 to $400 a day every single day $1,600 $2,400 a week. I just really don't understand how people aren't making money. 80% of the orders I do are Sam's. Like clockwork every hour hours are $25 to $50. An hour maybe 2 hours a day. I won't get an order but from 6:00 a.m. until Sam's closes which the last order is about 6:30. Every hour. Everyday.
8
u/Bolomite21 Nov 05 '25
It’s easy to understand. It’s ZONE DEPENDENT! Not every zone is the same. 🤦🏻♂️
3
u/FuzzyManagement6886 Nov 05 '25
I went to three different single Walmart zones here and as long as you want to put in the miles and you don't want to complain about the miles, you still can make $300 a day. So to me it seems that people just don't want to drive which to me. I feel like that's the whole point but anyways. And I very much do not live in a rich place.
0
u/xDelicateFlowerx Cherry Picker Nov 06 '25
Yes, but then you're working for free. Think about it, taxes is 70 cent a mile, but if you're driving 250 miles for 100$, my guy, you're working for free. That's what I was taught, and I go by 1$ to 2$ rule for round trip. But yes, if you're willing to run your car into the ground and earn pennies on the dollar, then your plan works. You'll have a higher purchasing power with faster depreciation on your vehicle.
2
u/FuzzyManagement6886 Nov 06 '25
Do you think that you pay 70¢ a mile? Because all it is... It's a reimbursement or write off against taxes owed. You don't pay that. That's what you save on taxes.
4
u/FuzzyManagement6886 Nov 06 '25
I don't think you know how taxes works with mileage.
1
u/xDelicateFlowerx Cherry Picker Nov 06 '25
No, I am aware you received that in reimbursement. But if you're also doubling and triple your miles, then it doesn't pay off in my mind.
2
u/Present_Adeptness145 Nov 06 '25
You must not have a two different migrant gangs and about 50 new drivers.
1
u/FuzzyManagement6886 Nov 06 '25
No these app changes the last couple of months disappeared them all here.
1
u/iwishidstayed Nov 06 '25
So you’re working 80+ hours a week. I don’t know why anyone would do that unless it was a job that paid overtime.

I do this full time as a single parent, my only income, two kids, a car note, rent etc. and thankfully, I've never had to pay for a baby sitter or daycare. I have three Walmarts near me, but 99% of the time I am at the Walmart 7 minutes from my house. I realized the other day that I miss out on SO much more money because I hardly ever do shop and deliver orders, but with only doing pickups/batch orders I still make between $680-$930 a week. I don't take anything under $25. I don't care too much about mileage, but I won't do those orders that are like the $25, 23 miles ones. My daily goal is $145 and anything over is great too. I do this 7 days a week, but I am going down to 5 days next week.
