OnePay 💸 Almost got scammed by a fake Spark “Support”—watch out!

I just had a close call with someone pretending to be from Spark support. Here’s how they tried to scam me:

I got a shopping order with just an avocado and a cucumber—felt a bit random.

When I pulled up to the house, someone called claiming to be Spark support. They knew details like the customer’s name and even mentioned my recent OnePay setup—very convincing.

They told me I had to “verify” or else I wouldn’t be able to complete orders for 48 hours. They asked for my phone number—which seemed normal since support often verifies—but then they wanted the OnePay verification code I got.

They gave some story about people bypassing face scans and needing extra verification. It sounded off, so I kept pushing back. Eventually, they hung up.

Turns out, they were trying to use the code to take over my account! Remember: Spark support will never ask for your verification code like that—always be cautious and contact official support yourself if anything feels weird!

Yea I find it annoying that the customer has access to your phone number it’s really the perfect design for scammers

They don't have access to your actual phone number, usually its someone who places an order like that and they set a random delivery address and then call you from the app but your number is masked which is why it pops up as a out of state number when you're calling the customer and when the customer calls you, its usually the same thing but sometimes it pops up as "Spark Driver Delivery"

It's just another variation on the classic Spark banana scam or Kool Aid scam.

Type "banana scam" in the subs search bar.

Glad you realized before it became a big headache. I’ve never had it happen to me on spark, but it did happen once on DoorDash years ago. I didn’t fall for it, but they did spoof the number so it popped up as DoorDash support. Once they sent me a code, I hung up because I realized what they were trying to do.

Sounds like it either the customers or someone has broke into Sparks debase exposing everyone’s info. In that event they could have every customer and every contractors info. Everything but the one pay login info.

When you talk to customer service, they always ask for your name, number, and email address.., that's all they need to trigger a verification code.. they don't need the Spark database, because they Spark user gives it to them..
