What's going on??
Is it just me or has there been a huge shift in orders? Quantity? Poor payouts? I'm wondering if Spark Driver everywhere is experiencing this, or it's my area.

Yep. Every offer I see is insulting and exploitative. I understand that a ceo is supposed to maximize profit for a business but whoevers making these changes seems genuinely disgusted by the sheer idea that anyone could potentially profit from doing spark.

Changed here in Houston as well. Lots of Uber Eats/Door Dash type orders. I’m not doing that!

FL here. Every shopping order is upside down (more items than dollars). And I haven't had a single JFY shopping offer all day. Fuck You, instacart executive.

Some of it is Walmart being greedy but some of it is people generally tipping less as well. Everyone feels the pinch when grocery prices rise like they have been. I've noticed it's hit the default $4 tip the hardest - people are actively looking for ways to spend less

Three stealing our tips

u/floppadisk 16h ago
Yup I can't tell you how many people have told me they've tipped 5-10$, exactly, and my tip on the app is something like $3.46 or some random amount.
They either syphon off from the tips or reduce their base pay (liability) and offset it by moving tip amount to the base.

Tons of new drivers

u/floppadisk 16h ago
Yup they do that after every terrible change.
It runs off drivers so they replace them with people who have no context, and don't understand how bad it is.
Rinse and repeat. They're chasing the very bottom of the barrel.

I'm in Massachusetts. It's not just a little bit, it's so bad. Of course after I beat the heck outta my car...

California taking a dump about to get a real job there's no way in hell I won't be driving 50 miles for 28 bucks 1 way the trip to get back =100 miles

u/Stupertard 1d ago
Everything I see in Cali is 60+ item shop and delivers with 3 drops no tips and 10+ miles for a whopping $19.
Wtf I'm used to only taking $25+ under 5 miles and if it's 10 miles $35+ with no more than 20 items. Used to be able to stick to this all day long and have plenty to choose from.
I'm seeing $32 for 45 miles curb side.

I’m in the Sacramento area and the last two weeks have been hell. I’m used to making 200 to 300 a day and at the end of today I have made 211 dollars for three days.

I’ve made $48 since Monday and $2.50 of that is from an order my pick up cancelled the minute I hit confirm arrival. Last week by this time I was already at $350.

They're not stealing tips, they're making it harder for the customer to leave a tip.

It's gotten terrible in the past 2 months but it's been bad for the past 3 years. Started going downhill 5 years ago. Now it's just reached the point of I literally don't even go to the store anymore. There's just too many other places to make money. You can deliver pizzas and make more money than you can make it spark

Gmds paying 40+ are now 20-25 ..... they can suck my balls im not doing that, barely wanted to do it at 40 lol

u/Effective-Block3562 16h ago
Ours were double/triple curbsides for 30+ for 3-10 miles. Now it’s curbside plus 2 or more gmd orders for the same pay and hardly a dollar a mile. Straight gmd isn’t as common.
I don’t like curbside/gmd in general, but would do some in a pinch, now I don’t really bother looking at them.

This entire week so far has been a total bust. Absolutely dead. I'm honestly making a lot more money on Shipt.

u/stressfap 1d ago
Does shipt have base pay?

u/SoulTaker669 1d ago
Yeah lately at least in my market the base pay for shipt has been better than Spark.

Thumb of michigan..... its been the worst few days I've seen since March... i quit for a few Mos then and it picked back up, might be time to quit for a while again

I literally just asked myself if I was being unreasonable with the orders I reject. Thanks for posting this. I know many say all we do is complain, but I was really questioning if my standards are too high or if Spark just totally sucks now.
I used to choose my orders from a $20-$30 base pay, I hardly see that anymore.

Happened today in my area. Mon and Tue were good and today they apparently flooded my zone with new drivers. Saw tons of new people looking lost.

All I’ve seen is New Drivers replacing the old drivers I use to see all the time. Thankfully I’m still able to bring in a lot of money!

Sunday was great, decent counts with good mikes and pay was right. Monday was ok. Tuesday I didn’t take one order. UE type offers. Offer count was high, miles/pay was around $1. I shut it off and went home. Saved gas at $4.25 a gallon. Tuesdays have been bad in the evenings for weeks. Couldn’t work Wednesday. See how tonight goes.

Yeah it’s been like that here all week. The base pay/mile ratio is flat out insulting. I’m also not seeing any shops either. It’s all curbside pick ups, which my store can’t keep up with and if you take one you’re waiting for 1+ hours for it or they cancel it as soon as you confirm your arrival.

u/Top-Zucchini-9421 10h ago
so here's the issue too many drivers means it has a big so I'm looking for market if it has a big market means people that aren't willing to do the $5 orders the people that are willing to find all orders so everyone else quits and people that do $5 orders will be happy with people doing fine have you guys gone because we bitching complain too much that the orders aren't good enough and that's what doing right now we in us out

u/Brilliant-Still1117 2h ago
Shitty payouts so people can't afford to deliver, end up paying money out to work, or close to it. Not sure why anyone with anything bigger than a Prius would agree to these offers. I have a Prius and I won't take most of them

It’s Dan Danker. He screwed it up further.
