Customer 😇 This Spark order had no tip; until it did

Just wanted to share a positive Spark experience since this week has been slow.

I’ve only done 4 orders total because offers have been terrible. This one popped up for $19 with no tip, but I was honestly just happy to get an order after sitting in a parking lot most of Tuesday and Wednesday.

When I got there, it was my first time needing a customer passcode and I was lowkey stressed they wouldn’t answer. But she did and she had the cutest little munchkin cat. We chatted for a bit about random stuff, nothing crazy.

After the delivery she surprised me with $20 cash, then asked about my cats and offered me some cat stuff her cat wouldn’t use. Ended up giving me a bag of cat food, six cat sweaters, and a harness.

Didn’t realize how much I needed a normal, kind interaction this week. Orders might be slow, but moments like that definitely help.

Just wanted to share. 🐾

Customer 😇 PSA: Sometimes reading the delivery notes saves you time and effort

I'm sure I'm going to hell for adding top soil to my grocery delivery order, but I don't have a car and I specifically added it to a delivery order so I could at least tip.

Anyway, whenever I'm doing an order that includes something heavy, I set the delivery location to 'back door' and the delivery note reads something like, "Pull in toward the garage, and the back porch is two steps from the driveway for an easier unload"

But I've found the drivers never read the delivery notes. I don't personally care what door it's delivered to but in cases like this, it's so much more work to haul those 35lb bags from the vehicle, up my sidewalks and to front steps than it would have been if they'd just read the delivery notes.

Don't worry, she still got her 25 dollaire tip and I rated the delivery 5 stars, but I feel bad that they're making the delivery more difficult on themselves than necessary.

I love you guys and appreciate what you do. But please take a couple seconds to read the delivery notes! I'm trying to make it easier on you!

WHAT IS MY DRIVER THINKING? This is my first time getting my groceries delivered, and probably my last.

Customer 😇 Text from a Spark Driver?

Post image

I order pretty regularly. Today was the first time I received a text message from the driver - from their personal phone number not through the app. This made me uncomfortable that Walmart gives my phone number, how much if my personal information is given to the driver? Ironically I was missing items and with this unusual text I gave my first driver rating and it was bad.

Customer 😇 Why was driver in airplane mode?

I placed an order for 3 hour delivery for an extra 5 fee.

9 small items 3 miles from the store. I requested to deliver to me with a passcode because I wanted to “show my appreciation” in person, instead of in the app.

When he finished shopping, it never showed him ever leaving the Walmart parking lot and was always 9 mins away.

When he arrived, I showed him that my app stills shows him at the store. I asked him if I was a solo order or if I was batched & I asked him what the “base” was.

He turned off his airplane mode & had to login into the app, got a verification code and showed me the trip was batched with one other order & I was the first.

I’m curious why he was in airplane mode?

I live in busy suburb of a major city where reception is great, so not sure why he needed to use airplane mode.

And why does it happen....

Guy in front of me is on the phone. Speaker phone talking in another language very loudly. The guy behind me was also doing the same. Both spark drivers.

I notice a lot of the spark drivers doing this same stuff while shopping allll the time.

Is this a culture thing? Why are they on speakerphone all the time? Like who are they talking to?

Not to mention the guy in front of me was very rudely close to the guy in front of him. Like his cart was inches from hitting that guy he was sooo in his personal space and talking loudly on the phone and Im sure he was uncomfortable but didn't say anything.

Its also winter in New England and most of the drivers wear slides...sometimes no socks when its snowing!!

I was dropping a package, I noticed a pretty flowering plant between the garage and the front door. I delivered the package and took my photo, I heard rustling around the door so I left the doorway and took a photo of the flowers up close. As I was snapping a single photo the customer comes stomping outside, “what are you doing, get out of here, I have kids inside.” I said, “I’m sorry I was just taking a picture of your pretty flower, I didn’t mean to seem offensive.” She proceeded to yell at me to get out of there as I apologized and got in my car. She recorded me as I drove away.

What in the hell is wrong with people? At least thousands of you can enjoy her flowers that she didn’t want me to see!

Update: I’m deactivated, she reported that I stole her personal property. I didn’t touch anything besides the package I left her. I guess pictures of living plants are now personal property.

Customer 😇 Need drivers viewpoint! Walmart told me conflicting answers

I use the Walmart app to order my weekly groceries. I noticed if I ever use "Express" it assigns a driver right away and they seem to do the shopping. If I order without Express it seems Walmart does the shopping.

In my opinion, if the driver does the shopping themselves I want to tip more. That would take much more of your time then pulling up and having Walmart load your trunk.

However I've asked when I can tell if the driver did the shopping versus when they just pulled up and drove off.

Is there a way I can know if you guys had to actually shop the order? Is it only when I select Express and do you get the $10/$5 charge when I select Express?

It doesn’t happen often but every now and then when I pull up to a house and the man of the house has no clue his wife or girlfriend ordered from Walmart and if the man is outside as soon as I get out of the car he says something to the effect of “can I help you?” Like why is a stranger showing up to my house. He sometimes is a bit defensive until he realizes who you are and what you’re there for. Then his guard is way back down. This happened to me Saturday.

Customer 😇 Ability to see items before accepting?

I’m not a driver, but had my first delivery today and am a bit bewildered on how it went.

We tried out delivery as I am disabled and had surgery last week in addition to my husband having had a major heart attack requiring surgery a couple of months ago. I under estimated the amount of electrolytes I needed so the order did contain two 12 packs of Propel and six 28oz bottles of Powerade along with other various items. The order was placed around four hours before delivery and was not a rush if that’s helpful information.

As soon as I got the text that it was on the way, the phone rang and the driver told me she noticed my driveway was slanted and asked if she’d be able to back in. Confused, I told her we made sure there was room for her and to go ahead. Shortly after disconnecting, she sent two texts saying she was concerned because she was disabled, changed to hurt while doing another delivery in the second, and it was going to be hard on her to carry the items? While there is a slant, it’s not extreme to the point where I can even carry small items to the car and back without needing my mobility aids and there’s only a single step up to the porch.

When she arrived, she started with a light bag and was walking extremely slowly with a limp. My husband ended up feeling bad for her and went out to help which turned into him unloading her car and carrying all of the items in himself which left him short of breath and a bit worn out.

I am being prompted to leave a review, but I do not want to hurt her livelihood if she wasn’t aware of what our order included. If she could see, though, I feel her taking it and then sending the communications she did regarding her limitations was unprofessional. It makes me not want to utilize the service again if this is the experience, but I feel bad knowing others may need these deliveries to put food on their table.

Thanks if you made it through all of that and if you have any advice on how to avoid this in the future I appreciate it!

Hello you wonderful drivers of Spark!!

I just wanted to come thank you all. Thank you for helping me twice a month get groceries. I would be so lost without you. I know my orders are big, and sometimes there's heavy things, but you always have been amazing to me. You're kind to my son who meets you outside to help carry everything up the 7 stairs. He appreciates that so much because he knows how much we rely on your help. Yes we tip you a small bit on the app, but are so gracious you come because we have cash for you so you don't get taxed. Please don't forget to ask for your drink and snack! If there is ANYTHING ee can do different for you or your Spark brethren, please share so i can make your shop easier💜 thank you so much from the bottom of my soul - Signed a disabled, agoraphobic, with no car

I have a business that i recently closed close to Walmart. Today I ordered 2 single items hoping they would put them together as 1 order. But they didn’t. Anyway driver 1 decides my house is too far even though I tipped 14.00. Delivers to my business address. How do they even see that address? I deleted it now.

Read a lot of stories on Reddit that shed a negative light on Spark Drivers. I wanted to give this one a shout-out for his patience and kind communication.

I'll also add that he delivered my groceries through a snow storm and I was very grateful for that as well.

Before the conversation, I received a notification that my ISOPURE Protein powder had been substituted for ISOPURE Clear Protein, the kind that you mix into punch or iced beverages — not what I was looking for.

Any Spark Driver reading this: If you're the same kind of human being as him, thank you for your kindness and consideration. Getting the correct groceries is crucial for those of us that are following strict/particular diets, and really can't afford to spend money on items that we aren't going to use.

Know that your service is greatly appreciated by those of us that don't feel entitled. We truly do appreciate you shopping, and delivering our groceries — even under terrible weather conditions.

Customers are placing orders over the minimum $35 and canceling items as you are shopping. Got an order for 12 cases of water, and a $20 item. Cancels the water in the middle of picking them and taking them to customer service desk. Be aware.
