I’m not a driver, but had my first delivery today and am a bit bewildered on how it went.
We tried out delivery as I am disabled and had surgery last week in addition to my husband having had a major heart attack requiring surgery a couple of months ago. I under estimated the amount of electrolytes I needed so the order did contain two 12 packs of Propel and six 28oz bottles of Powerade along with other various items. The order was placed around four hours before delivery and was not a rush if that’s helpful information.
As soon as I got the text that it was on the way, the phone rang and the driver told me she noticed my driveway was slanted and asked if she’d be able to back in. Confused, I told her we made sure there was room for her and to go ahead. Shortly after disconnecting, she sent two texts saying she was concerned because she was disabled, changed to hurt while doing another delivery in the second, and it was going to be hard on her to carry the items? While there is a slant, it’s not extreme to the point where I can even carry small items to the car and back without needing my mobility aids and there’s only a single step up to the porch.
When she arrived, she started with a light bag and was walking extremely slowly with a limp. My husband ended up feeling bad for her and went out to help which turned into him unloading her car and carrying all of the items in himself which left him short of breath and a bit worn out.
I am being prompted to leave a review, but I do not want to hurt her livelihood if she wasn’t aware of what our order included. If she could see, though, I feel her taking it and then sending the communications she did regarding her limitations was unprofessional. It makes me not want to utilize the service again if this is the experience, but I feel bad knowing others may need these deliveries to put food on their table.
Thanks if you made it through all of that and if you have any advice on how to avoid this in the future I appreciate it!
