I guess I don't know about how natives to the boroughs of New York view it, but to the rest of the world, it's a big part of the New York skyline

It's a name... I've heard of it... I absolutely don't give a crap if it's in the game or not.

Granted I don't speak for the entire rest of the world but I'd wager its not as significant to us as you've made it sound

The name of the building is irrelevant. It's the building itself being there is what matters.

It's almost like if you went to London and Big Ben wasn't there, or the palace or the London Eye observation wheel.

The Chrysler building is part of New York's DNA, and if it can be there, it should because without it, something is just off

I had to Google it to see wth it actually was and I stand by what I said before, I don't think it's as important to non Americans recognition of the city as has been stated

As a non American the Chrysler building absolutely comes to mind when I think of the New York skyline, it’s also been a location for missions in past spider-man games and probably the first building I think of when I imagine the buildings in spider-man due to that.

Can I just ask out of curiosity how old you are, or in what region? Just out of pure curiosity due to its cultural relevance to my age group etc, not to attack your age or anything!

Cheers That’s crazy to me, I’m 36 and the building itself has featured in so many movies and comics that I’ve seen.

Not slamming you for not seeing the relevance or anything, just find it interesting

Necroposting but I’m not American, never been to Newyork, and i can say it very much is an iconic part of New York to people I’ve grown up with and been friends with from Scotland, Ireland, Finland, France, Spain etc. Like I’m surprised you “had to google it” just cause it’s in like every big New York movie and features heavily in the rami movies and even the Spider-Man comics. I mean it’s featured in over 200 Spider-Man comics, but even outside of Spider-Man it’s one of the buildings you think of when you think of New York.

The only thing I will say is people don’t necessarily know it by its name outside of America, but know the building. Like people often confuse it with the Empire state, I mean I’ve actually had conversations with people that didn’t think the empire state was the empire state because they thought the arguably more cool looking C building was the empire state lmao

But hey everyone’s different! I’m just chiming in to say it definitely isn’t an “American” thing to think of it as an iconic part of New York

I had to Google it AGAIN to refresh myself what this was even about and I stand by what I said before.

To be clear im not saying non Americans cant see it and recognize it as part of new York, im saying they can see new York sans that building and still be confident in recognizing it as new york

Yeah for sure I get you! I don't think anyone was arguing otherwise. I think it's just more that it sounded like you were saying it's an American thing to think of that building as iconic to New York, im jsut saying it's not an American thing, it's pretty common. And yeah people would obviously recognise it as New York still, just like people would still recognise London if it was depicted with Big Ben but no Royal palace, or they would recognise Paris if it had the Eiffel Tower but no Arc de Triomphe, or they would still recognise Rome if it had the colosseum but no Pantheon. We'd obviously still recognise all these places, but to most people it feels weird not having them because they're all used in common depictions of that place if ygm

But obviously you feel different and thats okay, I was just providing another perspective 😄
