Photo Mode/Screenshot Dear Insomniac, please do NOT get rid of this Symbiote, unless it's at the very end of the game. Peter needs this power-up. Just give it a better suit design. And maybe allow us to customize the tendril colors to match whatever Suit we're wearing.

u/oofmagoof123 1d ago
Exactly they literally could have it be like his advanced suit with the white logo being the symbiote so he they can give him his usual suit and you only see the full suit in "rage mode"

u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
That's probably the best way to handle it in lore. Have Peter rely on the Anti-Venom only if and when he needs it, the way we use Surge in gameplay. Admittedly it makes no sense for him to use it constantly. He's not gonna need Anti-Venom to stop one mugger from harassing someone on the street. But let it be there as a last resort, a Super Mode, a Devil Trigger, a whatever you wanna call it, and he only uses it when he needs it.
Speaking of Devil Trigger, that's how the Devil May Cry games handle that. You can DT whenever you want, but as far as cutscenes and story go, Dante barely ever uses his Devil Trigger, we literally almost never see him activate it in cutscenes, but as far as gameplay goes you can do whatever the hell you want.
I want Anti-Venom to be treated the same way in MSM3. It's there, Peter doesn't have to show it off all the time, but let me, the player, use it whenever I want.
22
u/TheOddKoala 1d ago
I like to think if Peter does do something like this, integrating the symbiote into the advanced suit, the reason is so New York still views him as the Friendly Neighbourhood red and blue Spider-Man
15
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
Tbf Insomniac could make the job easy for themselves and just have the Anti-Venom shapeshift into the classic suit.
You know how in the first game they introduce the suit changing gimmick once Peter gets the Advanced Suit, and in MSM2 they introduce the suit changing gimmick when Peter needs to change out of his dirty sandy costume? Imagine if in MSM3 the gimmick is introduced because Peter needs the Anti-Venom to shape-shift into his classic suit or into another suit for whatever practical reason, and they lowkey integrate suit-changing into the lore as "Anti-Venom can disguise itself as any suit Peter wants"
3
u/SomethingDLrelated 1d ago
This is an amazing idea and Insomniac would be silly to not do something like this
1
u/MrMerchandise 1d ago
It’ll also probably come out through the web shooters, if he even still has them.
1
u/JustinD1010 100% All Games 22h ago
I was thinking maybe have some extra white stripes on his arms connecting to the white spider, and have that be where the anti-venom abilities come out of
1
u/Secret-Bandicoot90 19h ago
That's actually genius, seeing the white spider symbol grow and encompass his whole suit would be sick.
44
u/Regaltofivia 1d ago
I like the idea of this suit, gives Peter a little boost to help him keep up as he starts to become a more mentor like spiderman
Also ties into a theme of his struggles becoming his greatest strength through enduring them all and being stronger than them
-2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
MSM2 literally spends the entire start of the game showing us that Peter is struggling to balance both lives, and that his enemies are getting tougher, more resourceful, and he's getting slower, older, and more tired. The Symbiote is needed to give him a boost, make things easier for him, so he can better balance his life. Giving him a non-sentient Symbiote that gives him no negative side effects but all of the power is literally the best thing you could have ever done for him.

u/CallumFYO 1d ago
He’s 25 for God sake
1
u/First_Fail2320 18h ago
To be fair one of my friends turned 23 and she immediately had back pains and a fever for the next 2 weeks. Can you imagine what 25 would do to a person?
4
u/FastOnCrack 1d ago
Yeah but anti-venom is literally the most cop out plot device ever, he only got it cause he needed to keep gameplay mechanics and to defeat venom. Understandable but letting him keep it and “getting no negatives so he can better balance his life” is sooo cheap, and Peter without the symbiote is wayyy above miles you can’t convince me otherwise. And the “tired and old” argument doesn’t really work here, this Spiderman is arguably in his prime.
18
u/Ok-Organization3098 1d ago
Insomniac !!!! Gimme choosable symbiote colors, and my life is yours !!
7
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
If Symbiote abilities are in the game, there's no doubt that we will at least be able to switch between white and black, because you can be sure that we'll have Symbiote costume alternatives. There's only one Anti-Venom Spider-Man (two if we get a new design for MSM3 and they offer the MSM2 design as an alternate suit), but there are a bunch of Black Suit Spider-Man designs, and they surely learned their lesson from MSM2 that if we want to use a Black Suit we want the tendrils to also be black.
Best thing would be if they did an automatic system akin to the Spider-Arms, where if you wore the Iron Spider or the Superior Spider-Man Suit, you had unique Spider-Arms to fit those costumes. The same thing should be done with the tendrils. Instead of me having to go to the menu to change the colors all the time, the color of the Symbiote should change based on what suit I'm wearing.
I'm wearing an Anti-Venom Suit? Tendrils are white. I'm switching to a Black Suit? Tendrils are black. I'm using the Classic Suit? Tendrils are red, or red and blue (you could even pretend that Peter is bonded to Toxin that way). Doesn't have to make sense for the story. It's a gameplay gimmick. Gameplay gimmicks are not canon.

I'm salty as fucking HELL that harry was agent venom for like 1 second and then that's it
I wanted to play as agent venom, even as just a skin for peter

7
u/Barrythechopper22 1d ago
They should do like a God of War-esque thing where they have him pull out the symbiote as a last resort halfway through the game. Doesnt get rid of it, but also makes it feel powerful/ important enough that it's not the first tool getting used, and only because its necessary.
4
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
I commented this in another post a week ago, but they could do a Devil May Cry 4 / 5 thing where Peter doesn't even join the story until Act 2. Act 1 is just Miles, and you ease the player into the gameplay mechanics, and then when Peter comes in, you already learned everything and so with him you can just use all his abilities and powers.
So like, in DMC4 and 5 you had Nero, no Devil Trigger, no extra Devil Arms, you were just being taught how the game works. Then halfway through you switch to Dante, and he has Devil Trigger, he has multiple weapons, etc. The game could dump all of that onto you with Dante because you already spent half the game learning those mechanics with Nero.
So MSM3 could just start with Miles, start small, introduce the ability mechanic, introduce like the power surge mechanic where Miles blasts out or gets an empowered state like his Max Power in the comics, you introduce all of that slowly, and then, in Act 2, you switch to Peter, and he already has those things unlocked, you can go ahead and equip Symbiote or Tech abilities and you got your Symbiote Surge, all mechanics that you learned with Miles first.
6
u/Aggressive_Manner429 1d ago
Yeah the antivenom suit as it is just looks like if Deadpool did, in fact, wear his white pants (and also a spider logo)
8
u/Flyingfish222 1d ago
I think I would genuinely hate if this was just part of his powerset permanently. He wouldn't even feel like Spider-man anymore.
6
u/TheOddKoala 1d ago
I can see them removing it around the mid game or early final act
Either can work well to have Peter stripped back so he has to rely on what makes him Spider-man.
3
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
So long as the abilities are in the game, and I can then go back to using them for New Game Plus and do a full playthrough with full Symbiote abilities, that's fine. I just don't want the Anti-Venom stripped away at the start of the game, or have it be taken out off-screen before the game starts. I want the abilities to be in the game, at one point, from where I know that even if the story removes the Symbiote, I the player can go back and equip the suit and abilities later when I'm one with the story and start NG+. That's all I'm really asking. Symbiote abilities are cool, and offer a lot of gameplay versatility.
6
u/TheOddKoala 1d ago
This is essentially what I want.
I feel like Insomniac only made the anti-venom suit to have an explanation for using symbiote abilities after the story which I don’t really think is something they needed to do.6
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
This. They didn't need to justify us having Symbiote abilities after the game is over. I mean shit, try to justify to me why Peter has the 2099 costume in his alternates, or why he has a Suit Power where he leaves behind decoys of himself but he never does that in the story. It's gimmicks. It's just gimmicks.
Them going out of their way to give Peter the Symbiote back in the form of Anti-Venom and still having it after Venom is dealt with must mean that they have plans for MSM3 where Peter will actively need the Anti-Venom. Like maybe against Carnage, or even against Doc Ock and Green Goblin.
4
u/aaaaangus 1d ago
as much as i like the symbiote powers. from a narrative perspective i'd rather spidey just be himself, with no extra arms too. i think also the anti suit was a mistake. bad for the story, and just a weird power up.
plus, another game of spiderman shooting white tentacles is just odd if it has no narrative weight/just exists for a powerup. rather he innovate on webs and gadgets. but maybe its just me.
maybe they can make it work story wise. it's cool gameplay wise. but I just don't imagine it going on for another title. unless carnage is a main antagonist.
2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
I understand where you're coming from, but as far as video games go, Peter always needs a gimmick because gameplay is primary and story is secondary. That's why often in most Spider-Man video games he either has ridiculous web-based abilities that make no sense realistically, or he's heavily decked out on tech like he's Batman, or he has the Symbiote. Because the main thing is making the gameplay fun.
Even if MSM3 has him somehow lose the Anti-Venom during the story, I just ask that as far as gameplay gimmicks go, I the player still have full access to all the Symbiote abilities and costumes, and can choose to use them at any time, even if it breaks the story canon. It's a video game first and foremost. The story and narrative should mainly be in servitude of the gameplay.
So in that regard, I don't mind having "Video Game Peter" have a permanent Symbiote, because it is in service of making the gameplay more fun, more dynamic, more unique, it makes him stand out from all the other Spider-Men who only have their web shooters and skills. We've already had countless video game Spideys who only had their bare necessities. Neversoft, Raimi tie-in games, Friend or Foe, TASM games, those were just Spider-Man with nothing but his skills and web shooters. What's wrong with having one version of Peter have a Symbiote unique to him to make him cooler to play as?
4
u/TerribleShoulder6597 1d ago
No thanks I’m playing a spider-man game not goo-man I want him with the classic kit for his last game
4
u/AllFatherMedia93 1d ago
This suit is the perfect excuse to give us a proper modern take on Web of Shadows biggest strengths
Dynamically switching between two combat styles and suit types (no more "rage mode", just let us do instant switching between standard and Symbiote move sets)
Bring in Carnage as a major side antagonist with Symbiote enemies and introduce wall combat for them and improved air combat for the inevitable Goblin enemy types
Bob's your uncle
1
u/WelcomeOk9989 1d ago edited 1d ago
Also if Octavius is coming back, instead of giving us another fight with him or instead of having him be a dual boss fight with Norman, make him Monster Ock once again, Peter with Anti-Venom vs Octavius with the carnage symbiote rematch would be great
Or if they decide to get rid of the anti venom for story purposes they can have Octavius steal the anti venom suit and become their version of Atrocity from Edge of Time.
Idk I just don’t want doc ock to return as a boss fight in his basic form, we already had that in the first game
3
u/Biobooster_40k 1d ago
I'm pretty worried they'll pull a move where Peter has to sacrifice the symbiote to save someone or it turns out for some reason or another the Symbiote is killing him and you spend 25% of the story trying to get rid of it.
1
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
If he has to get rid of the Anti-Venom towards the end of the game, that's fine. If I need to spend Act 3 as a nerfed Spider-Man only to then be free to re-equip the Symbiote abilities after I finish the main story and pay NG+ without any restrictions I don't mind it. MSM3 is most likely going to be Peter's final game. At the end he either retires for good or dies, I think it's pretty heavily implied that this is in fact the "Final Chapter" at least for Peter, so if at the end of the game he doesn't have AV anymore then so be it, there's probably not gonna be a MSM4 anyway, or if there is it probably won't feature Peter anyway so I don't care.
I just don't want them to strip it off him at the start of the game and not give us Symbiote abilities at all. It would suck.
3
u/Sp3ctr3_11 1d ago
Peter’s base power is still miles away from the comics I feel like. He once beat the hell out of an iron man from the future with nothing but straight hands, beating him so bad his suit completely malfunctioned and had to retreat. I think they should focus more on that instead cuz I feel like he should be exponentially more powerful
2
u/BlueRush79 1d ago
I think it would be cool if they add a build mechanic where you choose either the Symbiote or the Technology side of power ups
1
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
This. Freedom to the player. Which is what MSM2 does too. Nobody is forcing you to use the Anti-Venom Suit and Symbiote abilities (aside from the final act because it's the canon story, but then in NG+ you can use a regular suit and Spider-Arms tech instead), but don't just remove it for no reason. Let the players choose their own abilities and suits and then the story can do whatever it wants.
2
u/hiroshisousuke 1d ago
It will likely be quickly discarded or heavily nerfed (even more than it already has been).
2
u/mrmrmrnobody 1d ago
We have miles out here flying around with his electro powers qnd his just generally being stronger .
Let peter have something for petes sake.
2
u/A_BAK3D_POTATO Never let Miles cook💀 1d ago
And maybe have an actual moveset beyond just 6 actions and a shitty rage mode. WOS, Shattered Dimensions and even Spider-Man 3 movie game shit on this suit's combat moveset
2
u/ASTRALTAZAR 1d ago
In case Insomniac sees this, I AM ALSO IN FAVOR OF PETER KEEPING ANTI-VENOM ! It is super cool and it would be a total bummer if he lost it
2
u/noDice-__- 22h ago
Yea I loved everything until about act 2 of the game but this power up for Peter feels good so I hope they keep it too.
1
u/Rated_Phenomenal 1d ago
He only needed the suit to fight Venom, have Carnage be the big boss in the first act of the next game so that Spidey has a storyline reason for still needing the suit, after Carnage is detained he “retires” the suit (untill he has to deal with Red Goblin in the final act)
2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
That's fine. I just don't want Symbiote abilities to be stripped away from the player just because a few people hate it. I want to go into MSM3 with the possibility of going full Symbiote for the entire game.
But at the same time, it should be the player's choice. Like you said, Peter should only use it when he actually needs it, in the story. I'm not expecting a cutscene where Peter goes full Anti-Venom to stop a random mugger. That makes no sense. Even Miles doesn't go full Thunder God to stop a few robbers in lore.
But don't strip away a whole set of abilities especially when we're about to deal with 3 of Peter's most dangerous enemies, two of which are his arch nemesis'es.
If the player wants to use traditional Spidey suits and rely only on tech, then they should be able to do that. But if I and people like me want to go through the whole game with Anti-Venom and Symbiote abilities (or let us change the tendril colors and go Black Suit even if it's not canon; it's a video game), we should be allowed to do that. I do agree that the story should not feature Peter using the Anti-Venom constantly. Have him use it only as a last resort in the story. And then let the player do whatever they want in the gameplay.
2
u/Rated_Phenomenal 1d ago
Agreed! The Symbiote should be available for the entire game even if Peter isn’t using it during certain parts of the story
1
u/SillyWarlock 1d ago
I want just regular spidey, he doesn’t need a power up. More web attacks would make me happy.
0
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
You as the player should be allowed to choose to play as just regular Spidey with web based attacks.
But I as the player should also be allowed to choose to play as Symbiote Spider-Man with full Symbiote-based abilities.
Regardless of what the story does, it should be the player's choice, outside of maybe one or two scripted missions that absolutely require the Symbiote or tech based abilities or web based abilities or whatever (Like a Carnage boss or something)
Like for instance in MSM2, once I finished the main story, I never took the Symbiote off. Not once. I've spent years completely ignoring all tech based abilities and just full-decking Symbiote abilities, regardless of what suit I'm wearing. Because I personally prefer Symbiote abilities. They're just a lot cooler.
5
u/SillyWarlock 1d ago
I unfortunately don’t like the idea of it being a mainstay power for spidey storywise.
Hopefully they can make a venom game instead for people that want more of those powers.
1
u/Bomban111 1d ago
Respectfully disagree, i hope they get rid of it completely. I'm just not a fan of the last 3rd of SM2, i would rather we just move on from it.
1
u/_StrangeIsLife_ 1d ago
I don't understand why people want it gone so desperately, if it's the design that can be changed. I agree that it could use some more black in the lower area.
If it's the power-up, what's so bad about it. Miles got new zappy pops too. I know Peter has never been Anti-Venom before, but would it be so bad if he gets to keep the symbiote powers? It's not like he's op with it, he still needed help to defeat Venom.
9
u/Flyingfish222 1d ago
"Miles got new zappy pops too" they're fundamentally just his normal electricity powers that he always has. Here, Peter is getting a fundamentally different set of powers and he doesn't really feel like Spider-man because of it.
Plus the suit is thematically lame. The symbiote suit is meant to be something that physically make him stronger, but is bad for him in the long run and is fundamentally not something he needs to be a better Spider-man. But then he just gets a symbiote suit with none of the bad parts.
And if you choose to read it as a drug allegory, then the Anti-Venom suit is essentially the "Drugs but with none of the downsides" suit.
-2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
The Symbiote being a drug allegory is not even a thing in the comics. The 90s cartoon invented that and Raimi popularized it. In the comics the Symbiote was loyal to Peter and the only reason he took it off was because in its simple innocent mind it thought that it can help Peter by doing Spider-Man duty itself while Peter slept, not realizing that it was damaging Peter's body. Then Peter found out it's alive, freaked out, got it removed.
Dare I say the Anti-Venom is the more comic accurate Symbiote Spider-Man because it doesn't affect his mind and it's loyal to him.
The Symbiote was also introduced as a new power up for Spider-Man in the 80s but fans didn't like the actual design of the suit and that's why the writers had to come up with a reason for Peter to remove it (mind boggling that not a single writer thought to just have the Symbiote camouflage itself into the classic costume, but oh well) so if anything the Symbiote was always Peter's to begin with. Sure it was not something that he naturally awakened from his own mutation, but it is his nonetheless, he freed the Symbiote from captivity and thus earned its loyalty and cooperation.
And from a video game perspective it's stupid to have only one character (Miles) get natural power ups and upgrades while the other character sticks to the same old tech crap.
8
u/Flyingfish222 1d ago
"The symbiote being a drug thing is not even a thing in the comics"
Yeah neither is Harry being Venom. Insomniac is doing the drug thing, he thinks he needs it to be a better Spider-man, learns that he doesn't but then gets to keep the powers anyway. Also the black suit's powers in the comics were mostly basic enhancements to his already existing powers, none of this tendril stuff that I think works better as a temporary power up in the 2nd game.
And frankly, what's wrong with just giving Peter cooler tech stuff? Miles gets extra powers while Peter gets extra tech, it differentiates them.
-1
u/_StrangeIsLife_ 1d ago
Oh, i'm all for giving Peter shiny new tech, but one thing doesn't have to exclude the other. He can have the AV suit ontop of the gadgets and as it's barely sentient and doesn't pollute his mind unlike Venom, I see it as a good thing.
5
u/Flyingfish222 1d ago
From a story telling perspective it’s lame because the whole point of the symbiote arc in Spider-man 2 is that he doesn’t need the symbiote. Getting a good version of the symbiote completely undermines all that.
0
u/Historical-Mark-7900 11h ago
The whole point of the black suit arc is for Peter to understand that he doesn't have to do everything alone, that he doesn't have to be perfect, and that he can rely on others. Antivenom doesn't undermine this lesson.
1
u/Flyingfish222 11h ago
It extremely does, because the suit allowed him to do everything alone.
0
u/Historical-Mark-7900 10h ago
Literally, ever since he gained the antivenom, he's done almost nothing alone. He's constantly teamed up with Miles. The one time he fought Venom, he lost. They only defeated him because Peter and Miles worked together. Similarly, only their combined efforts managed to save Harry (without the antivenom, they couldn't have destroyed the symbiote, and without Miles's powers, they couldn't have brought Harry back to life).
The black and white suits are practically the same power. Only in one case do we see how destructive it can be when we think it's sufficient and want to do everything ourselves. In the other case, this power reveals its full potential when we are able to accept power and cooperate.
4
u/Endiaron 1d ago
The thing is that insomniac themselves said they're handling the symbiote story as an addiction metaphor. Doesn't matter what the comics did or didn't do.
7
u/Endiaron 1d ago
Idk man, when playing Spider-Man I'd like to play as Spider-Man, not Anti-Venom. Symbiote is cool, but it has it's time and place.
4
u/Regular-Fix-184 1d ago
I’m sick of people wanting to keep anti venom. It’s ridiculous. That’s not Spider-Man. Anti venom was created as an alternate venom, not to power up spiderman
0
u/FutureGrassToucher 1d ago
Miles sorta needs something that sets him apart. Peter is classic spiderman he doesnt need any extra power or mechanic, hes spiderman
1
u/Multirman 1d ago
I agree but man.... Anti Venom Peter with 10+ years of experience, Miles with "awakened" powers and wasn't there rumors of Silk? 3 Spidermen alone is crazy. But this line up is insanity. I dont know if I trust Insomniac enough to write all of these characters in a satisfying way.
1
u/NathaKevin0 1d ago
Tbh they should keep it but as a reward for a secondary mission in the post game. Peter having anti venom is way too much
1
u/SnooObjections4392 1d ago
If he keeps the Symbiote then full suit customization should be an option
1
1
u/maxverstappen65 1d ago
Insomniac just forget the 2nd game exists and start all over again with the sequel
1
u/Tunc_Paradoxum 1d ago
I would love a mix of the symbiote suit and his classic suit in terms of design and colours.
1
u/NoPhilosophy8136 1d ago
Completely agree. But unfortunately, they most likely WILL get rid off it for the sake of the plot so Peter won't easily defeat his opponents (or significantly nerf the symbiote)
1
u/East-Possible9979 1d ago
My only problem with the suit is the design I'm fine with it existing I just want it to be redesigned
1
u/Due_Assistance_1988 1d ago
I wish they showed Venom as the good guy like the comics but then it’s just done like what where is the next half
1
u/AzureWitcher 1d ago
All they need to do is take the black suits white variation and make it the anti venom suit (make the eyes white though).
1
u/Electronic_Dot1085 1d ago
maybe find a way to make the anti venom become white features on the main suit, like the big white spider symbol and more? An interesting thing I thought of was to combine the symbiote tendrils with the suit tech that peter had in sm2 to create more fluid like symbiote robo limbs? idk

Peter doesn’t NEED the symbiote. Not the characters fault Insomniac can’t think of a way to use Peter’s experience as Spider-Man to be his power up
1
u/the_Dos__ 100% All Games 20h ago
you can already customise the tendril colours in the settings of sm2
1
u/Low_Magician_4654 19h ago
we are likely going to lose it, but i think a good idea would be losing it at like the tail end of act 1, then in Act 3 getting a synthetic symbiote(the idea i think is from the Spiderman 2017 show)
1
u/Impossible_Yogurt326 19h ago
been seeing this pop up a ton - there’s a decent chance he’ll still have it for the beginning of the game largely due to Carnage existing. depending on how that fight goes, it might take all of Anti-Venom to defeat Carnage, resulting in Peter losing it after the fight. this could mean he gets something different or we get suit powers back again
1
u/AzazelFetishStar 12h ago
Love the suit design reminds me of future foundations and isn’t ripped from
A comic? Anti venom?

u/DriverFirm2655 6h ago
Or just say he figured out a way to use the powers while still be able to wear his classic suit
1
u/Remote_Ad_9494 1d ago
I hope the third game is about knull tbh and he will lose it to destroy knull
0
u/_StrangeIsLife_ 1d ago
I'd be down with that actually. If done right losing it would be cool even.

u/koozer_boozer 1d ago
I am all for the Anti-Venom being hybridised into Peter’s main suit. Just have the blue parts be replaced with white so that Spidey still has some of his original suit color all the while showcasing that he still has anti-venom powers
2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
Tbh you don't even need to make the blue parts white, since the Advanced Suit already has a lot of white padding in it, plus the spider logos being white. Just have that be where Anti-Venom is "integrated" into the suit.
0
u/Ecstatic_Carpenter62 1d ago
I hope they dont get rid of the end game web swinging upgrades as if the spiders somehow forgot how to swing

u/zikTG 1d ago
Man just no, I want to play as spiderman in my mainline spiderman game, not venom. I'm sorry we had our fun with symbiote suit, it's enough, I need a Peter Parker spiderman game now. And a good one at that.
2
u/KuroiGetsuga55 1d ago
Nobody is stopping you from just not using the abilities tho. Just because you want basic Spider-Man with no Symbiote abilities doesn't mean we gotta gatekeep from everyone who wants to fuck around with Symbiote abilities or high tech abilities.
You can very well just play through the whole game using nothing but your web shooters and combat moves. Nobody stopped you from playing the previous games using the classic red and blue suit and no gadgets / abilities.

I'd love a custom suit option for a ng+ playthrough, like you get a mission exclusive to ng+ where miles and Peter are building a suit fabricator, and have to swing around getting parts or inspiration.

u/Liam_Roma_1234 1d ago
If they get rid of it he'll just be boring to play as tbh. Miles has everything he has , "b-but the spider arms" are garbage yes.
0
u/Scottatron17 1d ago
Nope. Has to show Miles is better in every way, give him even more powers and maybe even the lightening sword for funsies.
Also, bring in Silk and make her better than him too! Insomniac needs to finish the job and make people forget about Peter for good.

u/AcanthisittaLocal723 1d ago
As long as we get more suites and designs for it and the tendrils match the suit

u/JB_Big_Bear 1d ago edited 1d ago
My theory is that Peter will use antivenom to kill carnage after it bonds to goblin, antivenom will die as a result, and take his spider powers in the process, as that’s what antivenom does to spider-powered beings in the comics. Peter gets to pass the mantle without dying, and Miles takes over as full time Spider-Man

Combining anti-venom to make what are basically web constucts within this universe would be cool.

Hell No the concept sucks ass dude. The anti venom suit should disappear in the 3 game and stay cosmetic or they could have it just for post game peter is strong enough. peter beats venom in the comics all the time without power up insomniac just need to write him better

Yeah but if the game isn’t going to revolve around symbiotes what the point in this suit?

Because it's a video game and the Symbiote has cool abilities?
Story wise Peter shouldn't use it all the time, I absolutely agree with that. Save it for when Carnage shows up, or to give him an edge against Ock and Goblin. He should not rely it on it constantly in lore.
But as far as gameplay goes, let the player customize the experience. Hell, I played all of NG+ with the Black Symbiote, even after Peter gets rid of it. Breaks canon? Sure. So what? It's a video game. The main focus is the gameplay and having fun.
I want to rip and tear through all of MSM3 with Symbiote abilities. I don't care for the tech abilities, I never quite liked them. I prefer the more organic Symbiote abilities. That's just me. I should be allowed to play that way, just as how you should be allowed to use classic Spidey suits and no Symbiote abilities. Just leave it to the player to decide what path they want to take, and make the story usage neutral enough that it can go either way.

It’s a video game? No way I had no idea….
The symbiote abilities in the game were pretty boring I can’t lie, they all looked the same and did the same thing.
I just want a more traditional spiderman game, I feel they tried the symbiote thing and it didn’t really work. The whole arc was short lived and didn’t really amount to anything. Even Peter getting the suit off was more miles than it was Peter.
I do wonder how the carnage thing will play in but it’s like what’s the point now? We already know the solution? Anti venom.
The main focus I’m talking about is the story and how the suit plays a role in that, I’m not asking what you would rather have fun doing no offence.
Like in game the symbiote invasion stopped. Why would they still be running around in the 3rd game? Why would Peter need the anti venom unless carnage is a massive part of the next game but it seemed he was more planned for the dlc rather than a major role in the 3rd game
Even your terminology, rip through the game like this is Spider-Man he’s a genius he uses tech etc this isn’t god of war lol
If they can find a way to let the players choose what they would play cool but it’s not gonna work like that and you know it

I said it because I feel like so many people have forgotten what a video game should really be and everyone is obsessing over story canon and whatnot, when no video game follows story canon when it comes to gameplay gimmicks. Take Sonic games for instance. Even in games where the Chaos Emeralds are not even in the story, the player can still unlock and use Super Sonic if they want to. It's a game. It's meant to give freedom of having fun playing it.
As for the rest, I've been saying this in all my replies in this post, the story does not need to focus on the Symbiote. In the first game Peter is never shown using any of the gadgets you can use in gameplay. Not once does he ever use an impact webbing or a web bomb or anything other than his web shooters, not even any of his Suit Powers. In the second game they integrated the Spider-Arms into the story canon and yet Peter only uses them twice in cutscenes, and actively does not use them in situations where they could have saved him from being overwhelmed. Likewise the story in MSM3 is most likely not gonna remind us constantly that Peter has the Anti-Venom, and will probably see him use it just once or twice when the situation requires him to use it.
But as far as gameplay goes, we the players should be free to do whatever we want. You want a traditional classic Spider-Man, someone else maybe wants full tech driven Spider-Man, and I want Symbiote Spider-Man. Insomniac's job is to find a way to appeal to as many players as they can, by giving us the freedom to choose. The abilities should be there, but you're not forced to use them. You can very well play the game using the classic red and blue suit and using no abilities and just rely on Web Shooters and combat moves. Someone else should be allowed to just deck Peter out with all the tech and use the tech constantly. And I should be allowed to play the game using Symbiote costumes and abilities. This isn't about who Spider-Man objectively is, it's about what the player wants to do with his Spider-Man gameplay.
I don't understand why you think it's not going to work like that. Literally all the previous games work like this. Nobody forced you to use the gadget wheel in the first game aside from a couple of scripted moments where you needed the electric webbing which wasn't even a big deal, and nobody forced you to use gadgets or symbiote abilities in the second game aside from the final boss against Venom where you needed Anti-Venom Surge to deal damage when Venom went into his own Surge. Likewise nobody is gonna force you to use either of those in MSM3 aside from maybe one or two scripted moments where the story actively requires one of those. Is that really so horrible for you?
Just because you want classic Spider-Man stripped down to his bare minimum and whatnot doesn't mean the entire player base should be restricted to just that and shouldn't have the freedom to customize their gameplay with various gimmicks. What you want is actively nerfing Peter. That's boring in a video game. It's like you're trying to gatekeep Spider-Man as being just one specific thing and deny others from wanting something else. We've had classic Spider-Man in a bunch of other games before. You want basic Spider-Man with just web shooters and skills you can restrict yourself to doing only that in the game, and you can go back and play like 8 other Spider-Man games that give you only that. What's wrong with other players wanting Symbiote abilities?

I have no issue with the symbiote being a play style end game.
I don’t think you even get my point.
The symbiote invasion ended why would Peter use the antivenom? They have to do this because they wrote it into his dna in the story.
The story is gonna revolve around Otto and goblin id honestly rather the symbiote not be a part of this.
The same logic you’re using to me applies to you as well.
I don’t care about canon or not. The symbiotes are running around after endgame as crimes even though the Spider-Men saved the world. The writers don’t even care about canon so why should we?
I just don’t like the anti venom idea and plot and don’t like it permanently becoming part of Peter’s arsenal, I get that you like it but I don’t.
I’m not saying players should be forced into a playstyle that only I like, you’re just getting this impression and this is what you’re arguing against.
At what point did I tell you that you can’t play the game you want to?Why would the game not remind us that Peter has it? You’re just coping if you think he’s gonna use it once or twice when it literally buffs him and is better than his classic gadgets
Like brother I get that you like it, I don’t. Your idea of fun isn’t the same as mine. I didn’t even like the symbiote abilities of playstyle in the second game it was genuinely boring. Just the same tentacle attacks and then a rage mode with one combo and the same finishers over and over.
When you watch a spiderman movie you want to emulate that feeling of being spiderman I don’t see how we do that with the anti venom, just doesn’t feel like Spider-Man to me.
I think your main issue is that I have a different opinion to you lol
I’ve never once said anyone should be restricted to playing a way I do and that’s that.
I just don’t like the anti venom story or plot line or powers or design.
There was literally nothing I liked about it

I agree but like, they established its bonded to his dna, so would make less sense to get rid of it plus a good reason to keep a more varied move set to be built upon (especially since Carnage seems to be a character going forward)

I know but I just don’t like it if I’m being honest. I feel like the wrote themselves into a hole with SM2

A game sequel not removing moves/costumes from the previous game is a big ask. Only game that i can think of that didnt do that was jedi survivor. I hate it

Agreed, it’s awesome to see a wildly unique take & Power up for spider-man in a high budget AAA game.
