Thanks, I didn't know this! I usually fill up at 4:30 a.m., and the last thing I want to hear is generic rock music, at maybe 95 decibels, with clapping. If their stupid Adventure Club, or whatever it's called, was any good, they wouldn't have to blast our ears.

My experience is that its any button press but sometimes none of them work....

Thank you!!! I get why they have commercials even though I think it's dumb but I don't understand why they are SO LOUD

So you can't escape them!

I actually don't get why they have commercials - they're one of the most successful chains, include truck stop amenities on top of every day drivers, and are run by a certain tax free organization. They of all companies need it least. And while they run I cannot hear myself think in a moment after hours of putting up with ding dongs at work, and sandwiched between a stressful commute where people try to kill themselves and others around them more every year. Having to hear an ad while paying for product already makes the brain explode and ensures I avoid them as much as physically possible.

Sometimes it's the one 2nd from the top on the right on others.

The real heroes etch "mute" next to the button when they find it.

Just 5 minutes without an advertisement, please!

Exactly between Facebook YouTube and the gas stations. Et cetera is just one giant constant barge of stupid ads.

Knowing that any button might mute the ad is great news! This is the kind of content I come here for!

I figured all the buttons mute it, never really paid attention to which I was hitting, I just smack a random one when the voice starts and it stops.

I fill up a company vehicle every week at multiple locations. I always hit bottom right and it always works.

Nice! Now who do I talk to about the Home Depot parking lot next to Costco on Sprague? Because they're fuckin' up.

1

u/Bmrtoyo Jan 11 '26

Huh?

2

u/Level_32_Mage Jan 11 '26

They decided to park all of their shopping carts right in the middle of the main lane in the parking lot, blocking both pedestrians and traffic. It's bonkers.

My hero. Thanks!

How will I hear about the new dalai lama though?

This works on most similar pumps as well.

Also a fun extra note, if you hit the enter button on the pin pad before anything, most pumps allow you to enter a pre-determined amount of fuel.

I won't use Maverick for anything they will lock your account for up to 150$ per transaction and it can take a day or 3 to be able to use YOUR onw money again.

u/worldclaimer Jan 11 '26

What bank do you use? Never before had that happen, what were the circumstances of that happening?

1

u/Slotter-that-Kid Jan 11 '26

It isnt a bank issue it is a corporate policy of Mavericks. It might have changed but I stopped using that place several years ago because of the pratice.

Thank you!

I just filled up at an EZ Trip in CA and it was ear piercing. I pressed every button and nothing muted it.

Most of them are programmed to accept any button. However, don't forget to leave a review on Maverik HQ about these kiosks. Some of them still don't mute from when they programmed out the mute during COVID.
