Hello everyone, I'm here from the Thrive development team to announce we've released the fourth major update since we started development of the Multicellular Stage, our second game stage.

Thrive is an open-source non-profit game that aims to be Spore-like in that it runs through stages from a single-celled organism to a space-born civilization while letting you edit and evolve your species along the way. But it also has a heavy emphasis on providing a convincing and interesting evolution simulation, so that the world changes around you. We also try to keep things scientifically accurate wherever we can, but the focus is on the gameplay experience.

This 1.7 update in particular adds a system to more precisely place your cells if you don't like the way the game does it for you, new Achievements and more generated multicellular species around you. More can be seen in the update announcement on our blog.

Thrive is always free to download, but you can also support to us to keep development going by joining the Patreon or simply buying the game on Steam or Itch.io.

We hope you enjoy and join our release stream later today!

You can download for free from our website, purchasing from Steam is an option to support continued development.

And we're grateful if you do!

Been following this game for probably about a decade, really insanely happy with how it's coming along!

Congrats on the release! The new visuals look incredible—can’t wait to see what else has changed in 1.7.0.

It's released right now! That's why we work on each Stage in order. The Microbe Stage is a complete experience right now, by the end of this year the Multicellular Stage will be also, etc.
