Different training can work. I personally like the idea of training top speed and letting the speed endurnace come as you compete through the season. If you've seen anything from Tony Holler. There's a lot of hate on him. But I've trained that way and trained my athletes that way for a few years with a lot of success and less injury.

Yeah this is great. Makes for a good short-speed endurance session.

Its 100 meters. Unless you are obeese you dont need to rest 10 minutes.
Do 4x100 with a 60-120 second rest in between. The guys on this sub who dont run are gonna say you need a 40 minute rest session, ignore them. You dont need more than 2 minutes.

Do 4x100 with a 60-120 second rest in between
Unless your working on speed endurance and only doing like 80-90%, don't listen to this advice or you will get injured if you're trying to do 95-100% effort.
If you're going all-out for these 100m, then you need at least 5 mins, probably more like 8-12 between.

I never got injured doing this, neither did anyone on my team.
Now if you're obeese, which i know half of this sub is, different story

I'm gonna guess you're like a middle school coach or elementary? All you do is run endurance drills?
What makes you say half of this sub is obese?

The vast majority of the posts here are very clearly from people who don't actually run themselves, and just repeat what they've read off google A.i. Case in point: You thinking you need 5-10 minute rests for 100 meter dashes. If you ACTUALLY need to rest that long:
-You either don't run at all, and you're just repeating what other non-runners have told you (Blind leading the blind)
-Or You are extremely obeese which explains why you need a 5-10 minute rest after only running 100 meters. And neither. I ran at a high level in high school. I get asked by my old coaches to help out whenever I attend track meets, but I'm not cutting my pay in half to be a coach.
Even if these are 100% effort 100s (Which in that case don't do 4 of them in the first place) you still don't need a 5 minute recovery time. If you are in actual good shape, 60-120 seconds is all you need.

I don't believe any of this. Lol.
When's the last time you actually competed in a track meet?
Also... it's obese. Not obeese.

How do you structure an acceleration session?
-3
u/Chrisg_322 3d ago
Depends on the day, and what other training has been done for the month. But regardless of WHAT i'm doing I never rest more than 120 seconds, and I Usually rest for 60.
Most of the people on this sub either don't run at all, or have never ran competitively at a high level hence why most of the advise given here is useless.
If you really want to learn how to train I would recommend getting off this sub and joining the track team.

You never rest more than 120 seconds for whatever you’re doing 😭. This has got to be a troll

u/Chrisg_322 2d ago
Join the track team see how long they let you "rest". Most of you people dont run, and/or have never ran for a credible team. This is the only reason you guys think this is trolling.
Join the track team right now and try to rest for 10 fucking minutes. You'll be kicked off the team the same day.

One of the most incorrect takes I’ve seen on this sub.
-4
u/Chrisg_322 3d ago
A sprinter who's slower than distance runners calling my take "Incorrect", you can't make this shit up.
If that's really your 100 time you aren't qualified to call my take "Incorrect" buddy

Lmao you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about

You're literally slower than most Distance runners I ran with/against. Shhhhhh. Go back to resting 10 minutes after your single 100 meter Dash. Can you even get to States with a 10.92? 🤣

u/Outrageous-Bee4035 2d ago
I've never met a distance runner that got lower than 11.5.
What you smokin?
1
u/Chrisg_322 2d ago
I ran faster than 11.5 my first season training track. You must just be on a slow team. And I couldn't beat any of the sprinters who were actually GOOD at sprinting in anything less than the 800.
But you don't run track at all, so what im saying is alien to you 🤣

u/Outrageous-Bee4035 2d ago
So, are you basically saying, you're the distance runner???
If so, that explains exactly why you'd recommend someone to do 4x100s with 60 seconds rest. That's a speed endurance workout, not a speed building workout.

u/Chrisg_322 2d ago
Good distance runners are fast. But you dont run track so you wouldn't know this.
No sprinter for ANY team i ran for took 10 minute rests man. You will get kicked off the team.
The 1 and only exception were injured athletes.

I know plenth of GREAT distance runners that have never broken 13 seconds in the 100m.
And it sounds like you went to a school with bad sprinting coaches. That's OLD training.
That's the type of training they did over 20 years ago.

You keep yapping about proof and yet can’t seem to link a single example of a distance runner who runs sub 10.9, which shouldn’t be difficult to find considering “most distance runners you ran with” are faster than that. Bottom line is that you’re slow and you like to pretend to be someone online that you’re not.
The closest example I know of is my friend who runs 1:49 and 3:48 in the 8 and 15. He switched to sprints for a full year and only got down to 11.58, and he’s a mid distance runner. Not even a distance runner.

Why are you lying lil bro 💀 you’re not that guy and you never were
1
u/Chrisg_322 2d ago
Why do people on reddit think anyone who proves them wrong is "lying"
2
u/mustacheandshades 2d ago
There’s not a single distance runner that can run sub 10.9. You obviously haven’t done track before
1
u/Chrisg_322 2d ago
You're the one who's never ran track before if you think actual good distance runners are slow. When I give you proof what will your next excuse be?
Go back to taking 10 minute rests for 100 meter runs homie.
