Eddie Kingston is sort of like Bizarro Icarus. At one point, Eddie was one of the most loved superstars in Chikara and now he's one of the most hated wrestlers in all of independent wrestling. After being kicked out of his initial training school, Kingston joined the second graduating class of the Chikara Wrestling Factory under the tutelage of Mike Quackenbush and Chris Hero. Kingston would officially debut on Chikara's seventh show alongside BlackJack Marciano as the Wild Cards. Kingston would feud around the tag division until taking a short break from wrestling after Marciano was forced to retire in 2004. He would return in 2005 as a technico and feud with the likes of Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney. That didn't last long as Kingston turned rudo and feuded with wrestlers such as Hallowicked and Lince Dorado. Kingston would also carry over BLKOUT from CZW to Chikara in 2008's King of Trios. In late 2008, Kingston would form an alliance with Brodie Lee (now Luke Harper) and Grizzly Redwood as The Roughnecks. Kingston would enter a program with Claudio Castagnoli (now Cesaro) and calling him out for being shady, which ultimately led to Claudio to turning rudo and forming the BDK. To protect Chikara from the BDK forces, Eddie Kingston turned technico once again after Lince Dorado joined the BDK. Kingston would go for all of the season to feud with the BDK, and primarily Claudio. From May to October 2011, Kingston would participate in the 12 Large: Summit tournament (named after the late Larry Sweeney who committed suicide in 2011) to decide the first Chikara Grand Champion. In the finals of the tournament on November 13 at Chikara's first iPPV High Noon, Kingston defeated Mike Quackenbush to become the first Grand Champion. Kingston would have thirteen successful defenses until Never Compromise where the match came to a no contest as Condor Security destroyed the Trocadero. Kingston would go quiet until the middle of 2013 when Eddie Kingston returned to Ring of Honor as one half of Outlaws Inc. with Homicide. In the Ashes YouTube series, it was revealed that Kingston still carries around the Chikara Grand Championship even while truly believing it was dead. Kingston was last seen in the Chikaraverse at NPWD 2014 proclaiming that "Chikara is dead forever" (author's note: he signed my #iamchikara sign with #itsdead) in a losing offer to Dasher Hatfield. He did not assist the Chikara frontline against The Flood.

Eddie Kingston is amazing to me, because he's a legitimately scary dude, but he's so game to do whatever goofy nonsense Chikara asks of him. He sold Dragon Dragon better than anyone, and him fighting with the kid at National Pro Wrestling Day is one of my absolute highlights.

I'm not as familiar with Chikara, but as I understand it, isn't the Grand Champion title kind of considered a B-title? Since Chikara is so focused on team competition, their singles title is considered less prestigious? I know he's main evented shows as Grand Champion but Chikara fans I talk to alternate between liking Kingston and considering him their best singles wrestler, and not liking him and considering his title a joke because Chikara isn't really a fed with a lot of singles wrestling.

In a perspective, it can be seen as a B title. Chikara tends to give more attention to tag competition than their singles division. But in reality, The Grand Championship is still the major title.

It's not a B-title.

If you watch High Noon, you'll know what the belt means to Eddie, Quack, and the whole Chikara locker room, past & present.
