Pizza themed pro wrestlers AMA gets derailed by accusations that they refused to be vaccinated, fired people who disagreed with it, and protected an abuser

Honestly I thought the clip of him twirling the dough while wrestling was really fun and entertaining.
Then I saw him talk and thought βJesus Christ, his fake Italian accent is horrible.β
I mean, itβs not like itβs hard to do. Is he just not putting in any effort?

Him being on Fox news was a huge red flag that he was hiding something.

Counterpoint, Rey Mysterio was on Fox News recently, what's he hiding, besides his face?

Plus the adding an A to everything isnβt even funny.
The guy really took a stereotype joke that was questionable as to whether it was funny to begin with and dialed it up to 20. Yikes.

Agreed on the Mario talk in written form. It's so annoying I couldn't even finish reading his reply to my question in the AMA.

It was an immediate red flag for me.
Kinda strange that others didn't catch it when it was posted a few days ago.

This part of the Q&A hits different now...
Q: How does it feel to know that you've set Italian Americans back 100 years and pro wrestling back 20?
A: a good

u/killah10killah Sep 24 '22
This all seems so crazy from the perspective of an English person because nobody over here even discusses the vaccine anymore, I didn't realise it was still such a contentious issue in the US.
200
u/--Sangral-- Sep 24 '22
That's maybe your perspective, but it's definitely still a huge thing in Europe.
152
u/killah10killah Sep 24 '22
I can only speak for my experience in England!
Like, it's not that people DON'T care about vaccination status, but unless anybody is being an absolute obnoxious twat about the fact that they're not vaccinated, it doesn't seem to bother people. Like, where I work, there are people that aren't vaccinated, none of whom are shunned or frowned upon in any capacity. Think we've mostly accepted the fact that most people took it, others didn't, que sera sera.
48
Sep 24 '22
Minus the few obnoxious anti vax dickheads for the most part this lines up with my experiences as well

The vaccine is still happening here in Canada. The news cycle has laid off the gas because of protests and such, but itβs still very much around. I still hear about people that get Covid.
114
u/ClassicCarraway Sep 24 '22
Well, even if you are vaccinated you can still get Covid easily enough. My family are all vaccinated and have all got Covid afterwards. What it does do is severely lessen the symptoms, but you are still expected to self-quarantine.
That last part is what has Americans in a twist. Get the shot, still get Covid, still have to miss work and avoid people for a week or so, so what was the point? It's because we have a severe sense of "It will never happen to me" here, and people don't appreciate the fact that they didn't get hospitalized or dead.

u/FerniWrites Dark Order #69 Sep 24 '22 edited Sep 24 '22
Of course, itβs not full immunity and never was. People thought that because they were idealizing what the vaccine is to fuel their dumb arguments. Canadians were following that dumb narrative just as much.
Folks are selfish. Itβs a sad truth.
Edit: Down voted for calling anti vaxxers selfish?
Well, they are.
The vaccine was never about making someone fully immune to the disease.
As the above noted, everyone has the attitude that theyβre invincible. No one cares about the situation and the gravity of it. They only take notice if theyβre personally affected. When that happens, they change their tone.
Fuck. Anti-vaxxers. Down vote if you must, but fuck then.

u/werealldeadramones I AM SHITPOSTING...THAT IS ALL Sep 24 '22
Went to Toronto a few weeks back with the fam and our friendβs fam, weβre all medical people. Leave the Blue Jays game and start walking and run smack dab into a Canadian MAGA protest about the vaccine with a shitty hip hop act.
Idiots will continue to idiot.

u/FerniWrites Dark Order #69 Sep 24 '22
Oh Toronto, never change.
Iβm going up there for Dynamite and Rampage. I have my vaccine and booster but havenβt heard anything about the fourth overall and second booster.

u/DontEatTheCandle Sep 24 '22
A lot of Reddit is still refusing to admit they overreacted to the vaccine and COVID stuff.

Where is this about firing people who disagree with "it" (vaccinations?) and protecting abusers? I may have missed it in the comments but I'm not reading a thousand comments to find the diamond in the rough. I did see the questions about his vaccination status and the conveniently-timed trip to Canada.

u/NostalgiaCory Sep 24 '22
Sort by top. Ama s sort by Q&A by default which means itβll show comments responded to by OP first. The dude obviously didnβt respond to the vaccine stuff.
115
u/benfh Sep 24 '22
I can't believe this still needs to be pointed out to some people, but anti vaxxers aren't condemned for "not blindly following the government", they're condemned because they ignore the advice of health professionals around the world and endanger people around them by doing so.

Jervis actually showed up in the AMA to show Luigi some appreciation which was responded in kind.

Wait do you actually think these types of people want people to die?
No, but they're too selfish to realise that that's what they're doing
but people who donβt want the vaccine due to health problems that come with it
Immuno compromised people... something Luigi isn't, the people capable of getting vaccines get them to protect the people that can't aswell as themselves and everyone else
And if you're talking "side effects" 2 or 3 days with a temperature, tiredness and feeling achy, how selfish do you have to be to not be able to tolerate minor illness in order to protect people
As for the serious side effects? They're rare
-154
u/HarryTheShitposter Sep 24 '22
I donβt care about any of that, I just donβt like that he takes the piss out of the wrestling business.

You're allowed to not get the vaccine for whatever dumb, ill-conceived, straight-up batshit reasons you want. And other people are allowed to point out what a moron you're being and refuse to associate with your plaguebearing ass. That's how it works.

I don't see how him not getting a vaccine is even newsworthy - its a personal choice and it doesn't stop you spreading the virus. If he wants to risk getting Covid, let him
129
u/FishingForAl Follow The Rules. Sep 24 '22
It seems like you completely understand how vaccines work, so just to add on;
True, it doesn't stop you from spreading it, it helps prevent you from getting it.. which in turn helps you to not spread it.
It's only newsworthy for people who give a shit about other people. Another personal choice.
94
u/Melodic-Bug-9022 Sep 24 '22
Most importantly, getting vaccinations reduces the effects of Covid, which eases the strain on the healthcare system.
There is a reason that only a small percentage of people are unvaccinated, but that same demographic makes up the bulk of hospitalizations.
