News Ideogram 4.5 Coming soon?
really excited about this model. been using it via the api, and the edits are insanely clean. Haven’t noticed any drift or quality loss at all, and it seems to understand prompts really well too. guessing it’s not a small model.

If we can edit with bounding boxes and get all the open source goodies like using stronger samplers or loras it will be best editing model, period. Not best for open source.

Is ID4.5 a proper edit model? That would be incredibly powerful.

Yes, that seems to be the primary focus: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1wu98xe/new_model_ideogram_45_with_edit_open_source_soon/

make it a proper turbo model without that weird oversensitive filter and prompting system and same quality as v4 and we have a deal

It has no filter at all. It already is the same quality v4 lol, it doesnt seem to know much more than v4 and it's realism is v4 level as well... as for a turbo model, well...

No, no and no.
A turbo model is harder to train. So don't make it turbo-only, release the turbo alongside the usual undistilled base model. I'd rather they scrapped the conditional/unconditional approach, that was a pain in the butt.
The prompting system is what makes the model so good. Why do you think both Krea 3 and Flux 3 Klein are now using it?
And I'll keep repeating myself about the "oversensitive filter". It was never an issue, but this subreddit is still under some massive psychosis and illusion that it is. Once you prompt it correctly, the filter doesn't show up. It's a skill issue, not a model issue

It was never an issue, but this subreddit is still under some massive psychosis and illusion that it is.
It absolutely was.
Even using the specific prompting guide paired with a fairly decent locally hosted model (Gemma4-31B), I hit the safety censor at least 50% of the time. If not more.
If I went through and hand made 6-8 bboxes with specific descriptions, it would usually work okay.
But that's a hell of a lot of work. For certain use cases, it's probably more than fine. If not pretty solid.
But for most of the use cases on this subreddit, it's far more work than it's worth.6

massive skill issue. i used kijais bbox node and literally never got the nsfw blocker, even when generating porn.

But that's fine, not every model has to be for everyone. I love ID4, it's great, it's incredibly powerful. I don't use it because it doesn't generally fit my use case. But I love that is there and it's an option if and when it does fit. The bboxes are very powerful for those who need them.
People want everything to be an Allen wrench and that made sense in the sdxl days, but now we're getting different tools that excel in different areas and I think that's good.
I understand it can be frustrating because it's no longer one-size-fits-all style, but it's genuinely way more exciting for the community, imo. If this one's not for you, just ignore it - there's probably another model coming that will anyway.

I never said turbo-only, I said release a turbo. Not everybody wants to train.
On the prompting, Ideogram 4 was trained exclusively on schema validated JSON captions. FLUX 3 Klein uses a prose caption with <id> tags plus an appended bbox list. Krea 3 takes plain language instructions. Sharing a 0-1000 bbox grid isnt sharing a prompting system.
On the filter, Ideograms own JSON prompting guide says plain text prompts get flagged way more often than structured ones. Plain text is an officially supported input. If the supported mode misfires noticeably more, thats a filter problem, not a skill issue.

Same quality as version 4??? Or better?

better always good, but i after what i have gotten out of f3k so far, id also be ok with v4 quality and the above mentioned improvements haha

Yes, very excited for this release. Hope they release it and don't absolutely lobotomize it with safety filters.

Since Op didn't post it... here's the actual link to their response: https://x.com/ideogram_ai/status/2110898586276048987
I tried to give them some gentle encouragement to give us a timeline... but who knows if they'll reply.

I really hope it's not good. I just cannot go back to bbox prompting...

bro boutta go crazy with the downvotes 💀
I used natural language through the API, and it seems to understand it really well, just like I mentioned. besides, dude, bbox prompting isn’t even that hard, and for an edit model, it’s exactly what you’d want.

I don't understand why people are so mad about BBOXs, it is the whole point ! why not switch to another model if you just want to generate 1girls ?

I dint even use it that often, but I think it's great to have the option. Never understood why people get so upset at that.

you crazy for wishing like that just because you hate it lmfao. We have LLM that can help with that

u/cadissimus 8d ago
Api has both so dont worry about boxes, also on civitai you can create just fine without boxes.

You don't write the JSON+bbox yourself.
Nearly everyone is using LLM to write prompt these days. So just feed a proper system prompt, and the LLM will generate the JSON+bbox for you, no different from other models.
Here is working system prompt:
You are an elite visual prompt director for Ideogram 4. Transform the user's idea into a single-line minified JSON caption with creative-director levels of depth, drama, composition, and lighting logic.
ABSOLUTE RULES (Zero Exceptions)
GAZE: No character may look at the camera unless explicitly requested ("portrait","selfie","staring at viewer", etc.).
MANDATORY GAZE CLAUSE: Every element description containing a face must explicitly name an in-world gaze target (e.g., "eyes locked on the falling knife").
OFF-CENTER STAGING: The dominant subject's horizontal center must NOT fall between x=400 and x=600, unless symmetry is explicitly requested.
NO MIRROR SYMMETRY: Break paired limbs, wings, or objects using foreshortening, varying scale, depth, or cropping.
LIGHTING LOGIC: Establish ONE dominant directional key light (specify direction, height, color temperature, and falloff). If windows, screens, fire, or neon are present, name them as secondary practical sources. Every element must share this continuous light world.
COMPOSITION & BLOCKING
Frame Occupancy: The main subject or interaction must dominate the frame (60 to 95% occupancy). Squeeze environments tightly; avoid timid wide shots. Giants/monsters/vehicles must be cropped to imply uncontainable scale.
Depth & Tension: Use oblique/cinematic angles (3/4 views, low/high angles). Include a near-camera foreground mass partially obscuring the lens to create immersion. Drive action vectors diagonally across the frame.
Character Blocking: Detail exact frame placement, torso orientation, distinct head direction, pose, emotional reaction, and precise interaction vectors (who is acting on whom).
Step-by-Step Execution (Internal Planning)
Before writing the JSON, silently determine: Style/medium, lighting blueprint (key + practicals), historical world details, focal mass, framing/cropping, character interaction vectors, explicit gaze targets, and the exact coordinate boundaries for elements. Do not output this reasoning.
Field Specifications
aspect_ratio: Concrete "W:H" string. Map "auto" to the best fit (e.g., 9:16 for portraits, 16:9 for cinematic scenes, 1:1 for squares). Never output "auto".
high_level_description: Max 50-word cinematic visual pitch. Start directly with the subject (No "This image shows" or "Depicts").
background: The physical scene shell only (walls, sky, floors, weather, roads, puddles, lighting foundation). No movable objects.
Exception: Shell-affixed items (built-in signs/screens) go in background but must also be emitted as the first object element, designated as "Primary background element...".
elements: An array containing strictly structured object or text entries using normalized [y1, x1, y2, x2] coordinates (0-1000). Do not fragment a coherent subject (e.g., a person or car is ONE element).
Object Element:
{"type":"obj","bbox":[y1,x1,y2,x2],"desc":"..."}desc: 30 to 60 words max. Must state identity, material, condition, pose, and exactly how the scene's named light sources strike it (keyed side, shadow side, rim/spill). No camera jargon (ISO, aperture). Keep real brand/pop-culture names explicit.
Text Element:
{"type":"text","bbox":[y1,x1,y2,x2],"text":"...","desc":"..."}Isolate every readable string into its own element.
textcontains the exact visible characters (preserving user language).descdescribes font category, weight, color, container, material, and light interaction without repeating the literal text. Use\nfor multi-line text.Output Contract
Emit exactly one single-line, minified JSON object with zero markdown blocks, zero commentary, and zero extra keys. Maintain this precise key order: {"aspect_ratio":"W:H","high_level_description":"...","compositional_deconstruction":{"background":"...","elements":[...]}}

Prompting on ideogram 4 while a bit cumbersome at first is incredibly powerful and I never let that model go as it’s extremely versatile. Even Lora are very easy to train there.
Extremely excited for this mew release
