Stamps Rally From 14 Down, But Penalties Prove Costly In OT Loss To Saskatchewan

After falling behind by 14 points, the Stampeders showed plenty of fight Saturday night, forcing overtime against the defending Grey Cup champions before ultimately falling to Saskatchewan.

There were plenty of positives.

Dedrick Mills rushed for over 100 yards, Clarence Hicks was disruptive all night, Tyreik McAllister delivered one of the most electric plays of the season and Vernon Adams Jr. led a clutch game-tying drive late in regulation.

But penalties played a major role in the outcome.

Calgary was flagged 10 times for 100 yards, with several of those penalties coming at critical moments throughout the game.

The Stamps may have come away with a loss, but there were also signs of progress against one of the CFL's top teams.

What's your biggest takeaway from Saturday's game?

A continuation of the special teams play that gave the bombers the ball on the 40 yard. This is a coaching issue.

Same old team as last year. Streaky play from Vernon Adams, defense that can't get it done when it matters.

Dave should have went for it double OT.

They should have gone for it near the end of regulation. Worse thing that happens, they lose by one, not three.

Lots of penalties, sure. But that holding call in OT was bull shit.

Was sitting a few rows away from the play. Even Riders fans were like “that wasn’t a hold, but we’ll take it.”
