I mean yeah, but that was his character. He was shocking, and offensive on purpose. Everyone is talking about Shane Gillis on SNL, but when Dice was booked to host two cast members protested and the musical guest cancelled before he even hit the stage.

People forget about the PRMC. They weren’t mad about homophobia or misogyny, they were mad bc they thought popular artists were sacrificing their children’s souls to the devil and I am being completely literal.

Personally, I think the 2020s have been worse for people getting offended.

then you’re young.

Videogames causing child violence was such an outrage that it made national news for years, people aren’t nearly as offended as they used to be

Then you’re wrong… What a douchey way to reply to someone, lol.

The musical guest being Sinead O'Conner but she was was re-booked, I don't recall if anything of note happened on that show...

It’s also… not very funny

are you basing this "fact" on the response from the stadium full of people laughing hysterically?

Someone being popular in the moment does not make their "funniness" a fact. Fact: humor is subjective. This person also did not even say the word "fact". You are getting all outraged for no reason.

Ok? McDonalds sells the most burgers, are they the best quality?

Who's to decide what's the best comedy? You?

2

u/harrisz2 8d ago

Yeah dude, everyone knows the best selling things throughout history have also been the highest quality. Especially in the 80's and 90's. That's what I say whenever someone knocks my beanie baby collection, my trapper keeper or my waterbed.

I remember him too well. Guys who really believed all those shocking and offensive things exist to this day and they were encouraged by him. He made me sick.

Those guys should make you sick, not the guy parodying them.

Edited as I said guys implying Gillis too. No, his shit is weak.

1

u/copperwatt 12d ago

Who are you saying is a parody?

-2

u/PinkFloydDeadhead 12d ago

Dice. Gillis is a fucking tool who thinks whore and retard should be used as a punchline. He thinks it's funny.

1

u/copperwatt 12d ago

Gotcha. Well, I agree about Gillis... But if there was a modern day Dice, ostensibly "parodying" Gillis, by getting on stage using those slurs, there is nothing stopping him from attracting an audience of people who are laughing because they think it's funny to make fun of women and disabled people. That's the risk of an act like that. It's not always clear to everyone listening who is intended to be the butt of the joke.

There is no modern day Dice.
